Got a II here. For the interview week, it looks like Monday afternoon is an interview preview day.
Is there any word on whether that is a required event or something I can attend in business casual? I will be on travel that week and was not planning on packing a suit. I scheduled the interview day thinking I would be back in time for the interview day Friday.
It is required (but if you absolutely cannot attend you can email them) and it is casual! I wore a sweater to mine and most other people were in casual clothing. I could tell some people were at work as well which I am sure they understand.

Edited: There is also an option for two different times that day and you only need to attend one. Mine lasted 25 minutes.

So what is the purpose of the pre-interview thing they host on mondays —what does it cover ?

Everyone just introduced themselves and then they showed you how to use the web app that the interview will be taking place in and explained how the day would run/what happens if you have any technical difficulties. There was a chance for people to ask questions about the interview day.

Sick, thanks!

oh thats good --I wish more schools did this --it will help calm out nerves lol

10 days until 10/20 decision day! How is everyone feeling and navigating the countdown? Just wanted to extend my support out there for others in this boat! 🙂
I have avoided processing the fact that it’s October to avoid the nerves, but it’s not working super well haha. I thought decisions could come out on the 15th, but I’m not sure where my mind got that from—did they say 20th during the interview day?

It’s no later than the 20th and no earlier than the 15th because 10/15 is the first day AAMC allows decision release. And I hear you! I tried to schedule every meeting I could possibly have for work this week so I wouldn’t have time to think about this 😂

I have some minor updates and was considering sending - might bring a tiny more attention to my early August submitted app (doubtful lolz)
frustrating because i literally love this school so much but i don't think they feel the same way about me

Wonder if they’ll be inviting fewer this cycle. Appears that it’s been 15, 15, 14 past few Mondays

Folks who have heard back today, did you interview in September? Early October interviewee here wondering if it'll really be until late Nov before we hear back.

Congrats to everyone with the A!!!! & to all those WL and deferred I hope it turns around for you and that you have an amazing rest of the cycle!

Yes, interviewed in September.

Can accepted people give me an idea about what tier undergrad they went to? I hear that this is important at Umich

Is it brown university and your username is a unique play on the school name
Well, the username is more of a reference to the Beyoncé song, but I did go to Brown, lol. I used to have a really doxxing username that was explicit about where I went to school though

Yep, I interviewed on September 24th

Deferred decision support group to anyone who needs it 🤟 Definitely seems like it's not a death sentence based on some quick scouring
Something that seems somewhat reassuring for fellow people who are deferred (ignore the preview message):

2020-2021 had a total of 468 II and 381 As (according to TheDataKing's tracker). Per MSAR, about 80 people are WLed each year, and they unfortunately haven't had to pull from the WL. So practically everyone who doesn't end up with an A ends up on the WL either upfront or later.
At the time of this poster's post, there were 422 II out and 204 As given. This was the beginning of January, and interview season here seems to end at the beginning of February (so they posted 1 month before wrap-up).
204 --> 381 in the end seems like quite a jump, so it does seem like there could be decent conversion of deferrals to As.

What is defer vs waitlist?

What is defer vs waitlist?
Defer means they delay their decision to give A or WL to like late February or some time in March.

WL is arguably worse since they are going to consider the deferred students first before putting them on the WL.

In a way, its two waitlists but at least with getting deferred you have a shot of getting accepted while with WL there is a very slim chance

For those of you who have interviewed here, did you fill out anything in the optional question about fulfilling core competencies, if you've basically done all the usual pre-reqs as courses already?

Interviewed and was accepted here - I just left it blank!

To make sure, for the HIPAA certification requirement for the interview, we just have to open the link on our Checklist, read through the slides, and fill out the certification at the end then download/submit that pdf of the certificate? We do not need to log into any webiste for the training since we do not have a UMich account, right?

Does anybody know if Michigan accepts letters of intent from people who have interviewed?
