Yea of course, interviewed 10/04. I don’t think there is any pattern to their calls

I’m thinking they have to be done for today by now :/

but a huge congrats to everyone that got that call today!

Just got the email, put on the alternate list

Anybody know what "alternate list" means? Checked my portal and that's what I got under the "admissions decision" tab

High priority alternate. Confused about the distinctions between HPAL, regular alternate and WL??

Seems like high priority is supposed to be the upper echelon of the waitlist that's has the highest chance of being accepted?? But it seems like last year there wasn't much movement...

Anyways as I'm only rocking the alternate list I'm just gonna focus on my only other II and consider the frightening idea of reapplication because I don't really like being treated as a side chick LMAO

Is getting on the "alternate list" (not high priority) pretty much a soft R, based on past cycles? Be honest please.

That’s how I’m interpreting it, seems last year there was 0 movement on the alternate list so I’m taking it as a soft R as I don’t think this school sends post interview rejections

They do send post-interview rejections, I caught one yesterday :(

Interview invites sent in January? Still sitting on zero

RWJ accepts half the class in December and the other half in Feb/March. If you look at last year's SDN forum for RWJ, many people got II in late December and throughout January

Hey sorry, just need to confirm, there’s no security deposit or due date on a deposit right? I couldn’t find one and just really need to feel sure! Thanks!

I heard there’s a Highest priority alternate list that’s like top 10 in the whole list based on last yrs thread. If so, is this notified in your email because technically they cant rank since feb/march decisions havent been sent out? Did anyone receive an email saying they were in the highest priority?

Yes, I got a competitive hold, which they said was a high-priority alternative waitlist. They also said: "Please remain in touch with us and know that applicants in the High Priority Applicant category are quite likely to be accepted to our school as spots become available."

Sorry I should have clarified, but I meant like a highest priority vs high priority. Apparently, they rank the top 10 within the HPWL and designate them highest priority which is usually detailed in the email, so I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about that/has received that in their emails. Thank you for the response though!

If you go back and look, not just last year but also the year before, you'll see nobody reported being on the "highest" priority list before the spring. Whether this is because they don't make that designation before then, or because people receiving it in December didn't report, is unknown.

We can also see no one reported that so far this year. Given the tiny sample size (10) it's possible that people received it but aren't SDN participants, OR that no one received it yet. A related question then would be whether they send follow-up e-mails in the spring telling some people who were placed on the HPWL in December that they are "highest" priority, or whether that designation is reserved for people who interview later and cannot be accepted because they ran out of spots?

Bottom line, unless something drastically changes from the past two years, it just doesn't matter. Even though they are apparently telling people on the HPWL to "[p]lease remain in touch with us and know that applicants in the High Priority Applicant category are quite likely to be accepted to our school as spots become available," for the past two year, only a few of those "Top 10" received a call, and no one else did, as spots never "became available."

To me, the better question is whether they are actually accepting fewer people this year and really anticipate HPWL movement in the spring, or whether that is just form language they haven't bothered to change from when they actually accepted a meaningful number of people off the HPWL?

It would make sense for there not to be rankings yet as they still will add people to the WL from the spring interviews. I do hope that the wording is sincere and won’t result in the same outcome as last year where hardly anyone left that wl.

The same thing also happened in the 2019-20 cycle. I don't think the wording is necessarily insincere. It might just be a relic of a time (3 years ago) when they made extensive use of the WL, and they haven't changed it in hopes things will revert. If the new reality, however, is that their yield is now higher than it used to be, then they either have to accept less people up front, or stop telling people on the HPWL that they anticipate making extensive use of the list.

As far as ranking the list goes, I honestly think I might be onto something, if no one from the HPWL in December ever becomes a "highest" when they make that designation in the spring. For the record, I did not see that happen the last two cycles. If that's the case, then it's really less a ranking and more creating a separate list for people who would have been accepted had they interviewed before December, but were not because they interviewed in February or March when there were no more spots left in the class.

I'm just speculating but, if I'm right, then it's something that's just not available to anyone who received a decision last week, since there was a spot in the class for everyone the adcom want to give one to. FWIW, the only decisions reported on SDN in December, for the past 3 years now, are A, HPWL, WL, and one R this year. No "highest priority of HPWL."

So I also got the "highly competitive" "competitive hold" email on Friday but I'm a little confused about it. Does that mean we won't hear back until people start accepting other schools in Spring? And was there a lot of movement from last year on the alternate list ?

Yeah, they’ll start taking a look and (if space allows) accept ppl from the alternate list (from high priority first) after May 1st

High priority, or "highest priority"? :)
