Has anyone on the deferred list heard anything about decisions yet? Does the deferred list typically have movement later in the year or does it move throughout the cycle?

they say throughout the cycle, but I just assumed it comes later in the cycle.

just fyi everyone: it seems like Drexel now utilizes their holds a bit differently! When I applied two cycles ago, hold at drexel mostly meant soft R. I checked last cycle's thread and it seems like people who were on hold received IIs later on (feb-ish). Although I would not be too optimistic to protect my sanity, hold here is not the worst thing! 🙂

Anyone send a pre II update and could shed some light on what is "substantial" for an update?

Question to those interviewed and later accepted. What was the timeline for hearing back that they gave you on interview day? I've been seeing a lot of acceptances that came way earlier than the timeline we were given. If there was a difference, how early did you hear? Thank you!!!

They didn't say much on interview day (at least from what I can recall). I got the call about 2 weeks after my interview.

Wow, that's an insane turnaround time. They gave us a window of about three months from the second week of November when the interview was. When did you interview?

I was told “around three weeks maybe but it won’t be super long like months” hahahah. Which I guess means that was accurate bc it was about 4.5 weeks
 
To those that sent an update letter, did you guys receive an email confirming that it was sent?

I'm pretty sure they expect you to upload it to the portal yourself. If you emailed it, and didn't receive anything back, and also don't see if on your portal, I suggest you go and upload it there yourself as then it will definitely be available to the admissions committee! I made that mistake myself for another school because I didn't know there was a place to upload updates on the portal, and they just emailed me back saying that I should update my portal instead of emailing lol

Yep I uploaded the update onto my portal. So things should be good for now 👍

To answer the 2nd question, there have been some people throughout this forum that have stated that they have received a pre-II R. I submitted and was complete on 7/9 but still haven't heard anything. Hopefully some good news comes around soon. Wishing everyone here the best!

Yes, it was an email. This is what it said:

"Thank you for applying to Drexel University College of Medicine. After reviewing your materials, the Admissions Committee has elected to hold your application. Should the Committee select you for an interview, you will receive the interview invitation via email. "

There’s no definitive answer on whether holds this cycle are a soft R or not. There seems to be some speculation that they are (this was based off a previous cycle’s usage of holds that were mentioned on here). However, I believe I saw someone say on here that last year’s usage of holds didn’t necessarily mean a soft R. Overall, the only way to figure out this answer is to see what happens throughout this cycle. Nonetheless, you’ve been doing an amazing job this cycle. Great things will be coming your way and I’m wishing you the best!

I haven’t gotten any response yet from Drexel besides the open house emails, but I still sent an update. Nonetheless, I think you should send an update if it’s notable. It could lead to an II but there are no guarantees for that. A hold isn’t an R so you’re still in this race. Best of luck to you!

Your email should say that they’ll let you know the time either before or the day of your interview. So you might just find out day of like I did 🙂

Based off of what others have reported here, it seems that they send an email to report any status changes. I still haven't heard anything from the school besides the open house emails but hopefully we hear some good news soon.
 
Hey any current students able to help answer some questions? I have interview coming up and wanted to discuss the school more if possible.
