do you know anything about the admissions process? If I was complete early June and have not received an II from A&M, is there still potential that I get an II later on in the cycle? Or have I most likely been passed over?
I was also complete around that time and ended up having my interview in late october. I cannot say when you will hear back, but it isn't over until its over. We are still early in the process.

Anyone who interviewed go to the Welcome Committee preinterview meeting the day before?

If you are available, then I would recommend you go. It will not have any impact (good or bad) on your interview evaluations or application; however, it's a good opportunity to assess the culture of the school and student body as well as help to alleviate interview anxiety. Besides, I always enjoy talking to y'all and look forward to it whenever I attend or host them.

Will definitely be going. Thank you for your insight!

Has A&M showed up yet for anyone on TMDSAS for ranking after their interview day?

After interviewing, my advice for anyone scheduled to interview here is to put your “woke” pants on. Ofc it depends on your interviewers, but it felt reaaalllyy forced.
Broadly speaking, issues of representation in medicine and social determinants of health are major public health topics that physicians are charged with knowing and advocating about for the good of patients, without political regard. Some elements of those subjects were discussed in my interviews several years ago, but my interviews and my experiences as a student have never felt like a "woke" culture to me. Obviously, I'm n = 1 and your experience is just as valid as mine so I would love to talk privately to you about it, especially if you have any concerns.

What kind of Woke - I thought A&M was the most conservative school in Texas and you are saying otherwise. 🙂

Anyone else struggling to get a fee waiver? I've emailed them twice, once a week since I applied, and have gotten no response.

Actually they just gave me the waiver since I asked why not
lol. I love it when “but why?” solves the problem.

ENMED people start and end in Houston Methodist(?).

The regular A&M medicine students, all start classes in College Station. Whoever is allocated to Dallas and Roundrock (used to also be Temple but no longer there and now Baylor is taking over the set up) disperse at the end of year 1 and start taking classes at their designated locations. I know some of the MS2s who are already in Dallas. However, the ones allocated to Houston, stay back in College station until the end of the year and only relocate to Houston (Willowbrook Methodist?) in January.

One could also spend all 4 years at college station.
I don't know how I missed this reply. Thank you for clearing this up! I'd initially read it as those choosing the Houston clinical site had to do an extra 6 months of med school lol. This all makes sense, and I appreciate you explaining it in such food detail!

You are running out of places to badmouth for not showing you any "LOVE".
Haha, true! Texas schools have certainly given me a major shot at earning at least one acceptance. I sure hope I'm interviewing well. I always think that we'll never know how well interviews are going until the A's and R's start rolling through haha!

If you get only one or two it is very hard to ensure you get in (happened to someone I know in the last batch - 2 interviews, one reject after match day and one never said anything -looking at you UH for not clearing your waitlist. You have completed so many interviews that I would be shocked if you dont have at least a couple of admissions on October 15th.

Btw, what dates is A&M offering?

I appreciate the positivity! That had to be tough for that individual you mentioned, just never formally knowing their status at a school until the moment it is too late for any news to matter.

A&M only offered one day, 9/29.

That is good for applicants if they still have at least 3 months of spots left.

I called because I have a scheduling conflict on 9/29, and they offered several more dates, through 10/27.
They will accommodate additional dates but they are still going to fill the first open date which means they have next month mostly open..

Is TAMU SOM the accepted abbreviation for this school?
For whatever it's worth, our Dean prefers "TAMU Medicine" or "TAMU School of Medicine" and we have been repeatedly instructed not to use the acronym "SOM" ourselves, though the court of public opinion may differ.

I guess that’s because SOM could be mistaken as School of Osteopathic Medicine?

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm not sure if there is any grander reasoning than that she just doesn't like the way it sounds  But I've been told not to use it 3-4 separate times in the past 6 months (including directly from her) so the administration seems pretty adamant about it

I am waiting to receive secondary invitation email. I am IS and my primary from TMDSAS transmitted on September 22nd, but I didn't get an email so far. I tried to create the account using this link (TAMU) but no success. I keep checking my email spam folder. I also sent an email to admissions but no response so far. Appreciate any suggestion on how to move forward.

For MD/PhD- are we supposed to reply to the sender of the II or the woman they mention in the email to confirm?

It has been 10 days since the TMDSAS transmitted the application and I still did not receive the secondary application link. I am little worried as time is running out. Any suggestions on how to get the secondary ? I am also wondering if TAMU SOM screening applications this cycle to send the secondary ?

Check your junk mail, it might have went there. Everyone gets a secondary. Also talked to someone on the admissions committee, they said they're really short on interview screeners, so this years interview process might be really drawn out.

Thank you! I have been also monitoring my spam/junk-mail folder regularly and so far no luck with secondary notification email.

do you mind expanding on this?

For those who have interviewed, what is it like? is it traditional interviews or MMI?
