2022-2023 Texas A&M

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From A&M’s FAQ:

Each applicant is given two individual 30-minute interviews and a 7-minute Standardized Patient Exercise (SPE).

What is the SPE? Is it like MMI?

You'll meet with a standardized patient virtually. It's very similar to the patient encounters you'll do as an M1 but virtual and shorter. When I did it, I had some questions I was supposed to ask and some tasks the "doctor" wanted me to tell the patient. Don't stress about it too much! It's just to see how you interact with a patient. Be empathetic, kind, and listen to them.

I interviewed this cycle and they did not have a SPE. I interviewed in early August so maybe procedures changed (but I can’t imagine they would because that’s really unfair for interviewed applicants).

+1 for enmed as well, we didn't have any SPE

I interviewed 9/15 and they let us know that they are NOT doing SPE's this cycle

Noticed you applied to several OOS schools. Are you IS or OOS?
Only IS applicants match. If they were OOS, they would have just been accepted.

But on that note, did any OOS students hear back post-II? I'm waiting anxiously because TAMU is literally the perfect school for me and my career goals.

JUST GOT ACCEPTED! I MIGHT BECOME A TEXAN! LET'S GOOOOOOOOO <3 Thank you all for the support

Edit: For other OOS applicants waiting, I never got a phone call. I only got an email saying that I was accepted to the class of 2027

Does not prematching means your chances are shot?
Nope. I never prematched to any of the schools I interviewed at (3). Ended up matching at my last choice and then later got off the waitlist for TAMU after match day. So no your chances are not "shot".

Sure, its nice to have a prematch to calm your nerves, but just because you didn't get one doesnt mean you've been rejected.

Also a small group of people get pre-matched. Don't let SDN fool you, we have a large class. Mine is 166 students and I assume that 2027 will be larger.

When we click "accept offer," does that bind us to TAMU or any school? I just want to accept the pre match offer and want to wait out other schools for now.

It will help to read these two posts and watch the videos about Match.

Did you interview earlier like before 10/15? Also, thank you so much. I guess the waiting game sucks and it's nice to know earlier. It's pretty relieving to know there's still a chance.

you can accept all offers for now and rank them by Feb 17th for Match.
All the TMDSAS schools know that this is the drill

For those that haven’t received an interview yet, does your application just say “your application is ready” or does it say something else on the status page?

For those who are accepted, how would you rank the different regional campuses and why?

Here is my ranking:
- Round Rock (my partner works in tech and her company has a branch there. Austin seems really fun!)
- BCS (research is great and extremely affordable. Went to a Big10 school so I bet it's a similar feel)
- Houston (not the TMC so everything complex gets transferred but more affordable than Dallas)
- Dallas (seemed to be the most expensive and would be competing with Baylor students on everything)

As far as I know, Baylor College of Medicine is not the same Baylor in Dallas. They are both separate institutions so I believe you won't be competing with Baylor students in Dallas, but more so if you go to TMC.

This is correct. The naming is confusing but “Baylor University Medical Center” in Dallas is NOT a branch or affiliation of Baylor college of medicine.
