Hi! No I just had a different offer closer to home :) I think ATSU is a solid school and I’ve talked to some happy campers there. Don’t be nervous, be proud - it’s a great program! Regardless of wherever you go you’ll be a great doc.

I feel the same way
If you want to be a specialist it is generally considered a better idea to prioritize MD schools, DO schools tend to train you more on family medicine and internal medicine and pediatrics. In terms of those specialties, ATSU is an excellent school. Other people prioritize brain surgery or whatever, so they would not be wise to attend ATSU.

Yea I understand. Unfortunately haven’t received too much love from the MD schools I applied to so far lol. Gonna make the best of it regardless tho

Would any current ATSU SOMA students be willing to DM and answer some questions?

If you email admissions they will connect you with a current student. One of the students met with me over zoom and answered a ton of my questions about the classes and curriculum idk how many are on SDN

have they sent any pre-II Rs? I got a pre-II R from the Kirksville campus but have heard nothing at all from here

Has anyone with a sub-500 MCAT score gotten an II or acceptance from here?

hey guys do you think it's too late to send in a primary here?

I was accepted with score just below 500, had LOTS of other things on my application though as a non-trad.

Anyone think it’s worth it to go ahead and submit my secondary at this point?

OOS acceptance today an hour ago. Just interviewed Monday 2/26. Super quick decision

I submitted my secondary to ATSU around this time and had an II from them, albeit my LM was 70 and WARS was 71. Also, when I interviewed with ATSU-SOMA last cycle, I think they were mostly offering waitlist spots rather than acceptances since it's a bit late in the cycle.

just curious did you end up getting an A after your interview?

Oh I got rejected actually, I think what killed my application, besides the poor internet quality I was facing during my Zoom interview, was when my interviewer asked how many medical schools I applied for as the last question of my interview, and I didn't wanna say I applied to 59 schools and was applying to ATSU for some safety school options because I was only II'ed at 3 schools at the time, and waitlisted at all 3 schools. I fumbled at answering that question and I tried to keep the number confidential for privacy reasons. I could tell they didn't like applicants who were applying to a lot of schools and who lacked a strong commitment/interest to ATSU-SOMA and its Osteopathic/community medicine/primary care-focused mission.

thank you for the comprehensive answer and hope you secured the A elsewhere!

Thankfully, I reapplied Early Decision to my state school and got accepted there, my state school was my top choice and cheapest choice too!

Does anyone know if there are still spots available here? Interview scheduled for 4/8 and just wondering if they are already waitlisting or not.
