Question
Did you receive the postcard with the #dmubound?
I received the postcard before my group interview. I also received an official acceptance letter via mail a few weeks after I got the text

Wow really hope the postcard isn’t indicative of whether or not we get an acceptance..haven’t got one yet a week after the group session 😬

For everyone wondering about the Q&A I wanted to share my experience with it: It was a 1 hour Q&A session, first with a few members of the admissions department and we had to go around the zoom room and introduce ourselves and share a fun fact. Then it was a brief virtual tour led by current students and then about a 25 minute Q & A session with those medical students.
We (the interviewees) were not really asked any questions except maybe a quick friendly follow up to our fun fact or introduction, the rest was just a Q & A of interviewees asking the academic/admissions personnel and then the med students questions. 1 hour total.

Typically there is faculty on the call too to answer questions.

OOS II received just now. Strong ties to Iowa. Complete in early sept.

Anyone who’s been accepted, does it show on your dmu application portal?

It takes some time to show up on the portal once you’ve been accepted. If you got the email and text, don’t worry about it too much. Check in a week or so, you’ll want to stay up to date on when the first deposit is due.

Anyone who interviewed (info sesh) on 10/26/23 have any of y’all heard back yet ?

Had my group interview on 10/26/23 and have not heard back yet. May be a longer wait as the cycle goes on.

Ya I’m guessing they’re just letting it ride without any decisions until later on. Interviewed back in August and haven’t heard back.

Admissions has been quoting 3-4 weeks for a decision. If it’s been longer, reach out to them for an update.

Ya that’s what was really weird haha. I’m sure they have something on their mind to not give decisions since they quoted 4-6 weeks on the email.

I called around the 7 week mark and they said they will tell the adcoms I called for an update.

I emailed around the 9 week mark and was told it would probably be several more weeks for a decision.

That was about 4 weeks ago and I’m at radio silence.

I’m grateful to have multiple other acceptances but this was a school I would have strongly considered putting a deposit down on! I’m sure it’s either an R or a WL but I obviously don’t know for sure

I wouldn’t let it bother you with the other acceptances in hand. Also wouldn’t chalk it up to an R or WL off the bat. Just be patient. As difficult as I know that is. You’ll end up where you’re meant to be.

You’re awesome thank you buddy ❤️

I got the postcard today..Are there people who got the postcard who got rejected? or waitlisted

That's also kind of messed up that they would try to get your hopes up just to possibly reject you 😒

Did anyone else get the email that their “application is complete and currently awaiting review by our admissions committee.” With a survey to complete that states whether you’re still interesting in attending or not

Spoke with admissions. Looking at a longer wait time (early/mid December), especially with the holidays coming up.
Early/mid-December is crazy! I was in the 10/6 session as well. It's hard waiting to hear from these other schools with December 14th fast approaching. I have one DO A so far, but I can't afford to drop $1,000 to then choose another school. It's really stressing me out!

Congrats on the A though! You’re gonna be a doctor 🙂 I believe we have a little time still. If it’s a couple days before Dec 14, I think they allow us to have more time or an extended deadline. Not completely sure of the specific timeline for this school, but I had also asked about it too. Here’s the official rules from AACOMAS:

Also wanted to echo for those who are interviewing soon- the Kira assessment was pretty straightforward, just prepare how you would with any other interview regarding MMI/traditional formats. The Zoom meeting was also lowkey and very informative. They told us that those who interviewed today would likely hear back in January 2024 but a sooner response can also be expected. Good luck to everyone!

OOS II LM 65
can anyone share what the interview is like?
Plenty of answers in the previous replies. Here are answers from this year’s thread:
Prepare as you would for any other interview. You noted some good things, brush up on the details of the school, etc.

Prepare to type

Ya Kira is something you do after you get an II! They have a good breakdown of what it entails what’s they invite you. PREview is optional!

It's asynchronous, but the questions are fairly standard for an interview so the interview thread should be of great help as you'll probably get a few of those. Essentially you get 10 questions, 45 seconds to think and 1 min 30s to answer. I didn't love the time-limited format but it being asynchronous did take off some stress. Then you just have to attend a Q&A session but it doesn't get graded and factored into your decision lol

My application has been complete since October 5th and no news from them. Do I email them or just wait?

LOL I got a postcard in the mail that read CONGRATULATIONS but it ended up being just a "congrats for interviewing" card :/ granted i did receive it a week after my interview, was curious if anyone else got this card too?

Yes! Followed by a postcard from current students. Still awaiting decision from 10/16
