Does anyone know if the traditional interview is open or closed file? And whether it is separately held or a part of the MMI stations? I couldn't find that info anywhere

It is open file and the interviewer asks you if you have any updates on your application, as well as elaborating on specific parts of your app. It is also built into the MMI circuit.

Thank you so much! Since it's part of the MMI, does that mean the traditional interview is really short? (~10 minutes)

No, thankfully they try to mimic the traditional interview part of the circuit to those of other schools, so you have 20-25ish minutes in that one and the rest are around ~10 mins. All of the stations combined including breaks add up to around 2 hrs.

That's great to hear. Thank you so much! I hope they send you that A 😊

Submitted at 11:59... now I know how Tmac felt when he was down 12 with 33 seconds left
Holland I love seeing these comments 🤣🤣🤣 I guarantee you are getting an interview in January lolol

does anyone know if Stanford accepts pre-ii updates? I have some pretty significant ish updates but can’t find anywhere to upload a document on the portal

ah, that sucks. had some papers in the review process that I couldn’t list on Stanford’s supplemental app which have since been published :/
They had you link your Orcid right? If the papers are liked to that, maybe they’ll see them? Not sure, but hopefully that’s why they had us do that

Hi guys, how strict do you think they are about the headshot we uploaded? I uploaded my regular one with me smiling and just realized that they asked for a neutral expression with no teeth in the linked guidelines. Should I email them to ask to submit another headshot? This is stressing me out lol
I wouldn't bother. I very much doubt it will make a lick of difference.

I don't know the answer to this, but I can't imagine the following scene actually happening:

INT. YALE MEDICAL SCHOOL ADMISSIONS OFFICE--2 A.M. EARLY MARCH, 2023

A weary and weathered admissions team making the final selections for Yale Med Class of 2023.

ADMISSIONS OFFICER #1

This woman is an absolute rockstar. Perfect for Stanford.

ADMISSIONS OFFICER #2

Same here. My applicant is pure gold, one of best we've seen.

ADMISSIONS OFFICERS #1 & 2 (in unison):

How do we possibly decide who should get the very last spot?

DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS (burping with extreme confidence):

Hold my beer.
The Director hands of her beer without looking to a very confused Admissions Officer #2. The Director briefly--we are talking fractions of a second--looks at the two application files in front of her.

DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

This one is smiling. Go with the one who can follow directions.

I would just relax and not draw more attention to it.
I could actually imagine this happening

INT. STANFORD MEDICAL SCHOOL ADMISSIONS OFFICE--2 A.M., EARLY MARCH, 2024

A weary and weathered admissions team is making the final selection for the Stanford Medical School Class of 2027.

ADMISSIONS OFFICER #1

This woman is an absolute rockstar. Perfect for Stanford.

ADMISSIONS OFFICER #2

Same here. My applicant is pure gold, one of best we've ever seen. But there's only one spot left!

ADMISSIONS OFFICERS #1 & #2
(in unison)

So who gets it?

DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
(burping with extreme confidence)

Hold my beer.
The Director hands off her can of Pabst Blue Ribbon without looking to a visibly confused Admissions Officer #2. The Director briefly--we are talking fractions of a second--looks at the two application files in front of her.

DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

This one is smiling. Go with the one who can follow directions.
FADE OUT.

To be clear, I would just relax and not draw more attention to it.
Very solid dialogue. Well written. Now I’m curious about your personal statement…

Where is the big rejection wave I expected yesterday (last year's trend), I would rather have the band aid pulled off quickly then have my hope broken at the end
Stanford's secondaries were sent out much later this year than last year if I remember correctly. I wouldn't be surprised if the R-wave has been postponed accordingly.

Waiting to be the next one to take the R hit like

Dear I_like_Floors,

We have reviewed your application to Stanford Medicine and are informing you that your application has not been selected for further consideration.

As it is for many other medical schools in the United States, we must decline many bright, promising medical school applicants. Due to the competitive nature of our program, we are unfortunately not considering people who like floors. In fact, one of our new core medical competencies is the ability to levitate menacingly and T-pose on patients. We hope this decision does not dissuade you from pursuing a career in medicine. I am confident that you will find a place where your needs can be met and you can work towards a successful medical career.

Please be aware that neither feedback on the application nor explanation of the review decision will be provided to declined applicants.

We thank you for your interest in Stanford Medicine and for your patience over these past months. We wish you the best in your pursuit of a career in medicine.

Sincerely,
Stanford Admissions
