The KH application says it's due early Oct... is this the only merit aid Stanford gives and should we fill out the application despite not knowing whether we'll even be accepted?

If you're interested in KH then yes fill out the application. I went to an info session and it's not supposed to have any influence on the result of your med school application. They do things independently so KH will decide who they're interested in and then later on check in with the med school to see if you're still under consideration with them or not. I've been planning to apply but have been procrastinating bc I thought I'd probably be rejected by now lmao

Anyone applying for KH know if it affects our MD application at all? (ex. does it speed up an interview/admissions decision?)
I know someone who applied for KH, and he said that KH reviewed your application first, and then if they didnt want you, sent your app to the regular MD pool. So if you apply KH but don’t get in, it could delay review of your application.

Hopefully they changed that, because it honestly doesn’t seem fair, but that’s what I heard a few years ago.

literally me, are you planning on submitting basically at the deadline? I don't want to harass ppl for LORs if i get that R before the deadline

for anyone about to interview in 40 minutes, did they send out who the interviewer is

Yeah I'm planning on applying like right at the deadline. I asked two of my letter writers to submit what they wrote for my med school app just tweaked slightly for KH.

I thought the MMI was unidirectional via Kira. Can you come back after your interview to confirm/deny this and to update us on if the trad interview is via Zoom? Good luck today!
Everything is on Kira, including the trad interview
Yep! Everything is on Kira and each station (including traditional) is with a different interviewer. There’s also no written component (despite what their MMI video on the portal says).

Thank you both! So the MMIs and trad interview are both with someone who can ask follow-up Qs, etc.? You're not just talking to a screen?

IKR! I saw that in the video and was so nervous-- my advisor said it might be a response to generative AI and a way to check that we could actually write, but I'm super glad it wasn't included

Just want to double check with those who interviewed, are there any student sessions / information before the interview day? Couldn’t see anything on the portal but was wondering if anything pops up!

There should be videos about the curriculum and financial aid available on the portal, but nothing more than that! The afternoon portion of the interview day is an info session though!

For anyone that's interviewed already, can the interviewers see you or are you recorded during the 2 minute prep session? I feel like Id get super nervous and blank out if they did. also are we allowed to take notes during the prep session?

what parts of the components that were shown in the video did you encounter?

Did anybody else get an email about an interview confirmation that we have to respond to in the portal? What are people saying?
isnt it the reminder email that we have to reply to at least 5 days before our interview? i don't see anything about replying in the portal.

Interviewers can't see you during the 2 minute prep! I'd also be stressed if they had!!

No notetaking is allowed for the interview.

I'm not sure we're allowed to say what kinds of questions we got, but all of it was one-on-one and there wasn't a written component!

My reminder email said "You must respond to this reminder email using the "Communications" link of the MedAdmit Application Portal", so I responded through the portal (just replied to that email using the portal's communications tab, there wasn't like a specific page or anything)

Happy The Office GIF

the lunch voucher solidified stanford at the top of my list

OOS II received but did not notice the photo requirement of having a neutral expression (used my professional headshot I have been using for all schools that also has a textured grey background 🙃). Would it be wise to get another picture taken with a white background or should I just ride with what I uploaded?
Any advice? I also submitted a photo with that generic gray background. Probably the same one lol

Hey, I have two questions I was hoping to get answers to:

1) Does Stanford send out rejection letters?
2) Due to unforeseen circumstances, I indicated that I was interested in KHS on my application, but I will not be able to submit by the 11th. Will this in any way impact the evaluation (timing or perception) of my MD application?

No to both esp bc KHS is a separate application and you can always apply your second year (but for 1 you can confirm it by looking at previous cycles?)
