+1 OOS Final Pool. Does everyone else’s email say they’ve been reviewed and will be reviewed again? I was under the assumption a lot of FP people were not yet reviewed and would be in February.

Mine says it’s been reviewed and will be reviewed again. Based on the email, you can’t send accept updates anymore during final pool?

OOS at the pool 🏖️🐬🦑🪼🐠🐙🦀🐳
Folks, how are we feeling about being at the pool party? Do we have any reliable information about how likely the pool party turns into an A party? 😬🙏

Would love to know this— currently stressing, wondering if it’s time to seriously start prepping to reapply right now.

From digging through past threads, in-state approx ~30 are accepted, ~50 waitlisted, ~60 rejected (then ~20-30 get off the waitlist). OOS I can't find as much info for. The waitlist is is bigger, about 100 spots, with much more variable movement (up to ~50 acceptances from OOS WL in past years). Unfortunately I have no clue as to how many OOS applicants are straight up accepted or rejected after final pool. I think about half the class comes from the pool however so we all still have a fair shot.

Does anyone know how many IS people get final pooled in total? I am pretty nervous about this

Does anyone know if final pool applicants are not eligible to apply to Iowa's summer research fellowships for pre-M1s? I saw on their website the deadline to apply for pre-M1s was Feb 28 but final pool decisions don't happen until March. It's fine if we're not but I just wanted to clarify if this was an option or not

Unfortunately As after Feb 28 are not eligible 🙁

Does anybody have any historical data on final pool numbers; how many students are typically final pooled IS vs. OOS, how many students are typically accepted from final pool, what percentage of the class may be from final pool, etc.? Thank you in advance!!

Based on prior year threads (thank you to our ancestors for this information):

2015: Tuesday, March 3rd
2016: Tuesday, March 8th
2017: Wednesday, March 8th
2018: Tuesday, March 6th
2019: Tuesday, March 5th
2020: Wednesday, March 11th
2021: Wednesday, March 10th
2022: Wednesday, March 9th
2023: Wednesday, March 8th
2024: Wednesday, March 6th

So using these, we could expect tomorrow, March 5th, or combining this information with the trend of final pool decisions coming the week prior to residency match (which always falls on the 3rd week in March), it is more likely next Wednesday, March 12th. Either way, sending everyone best wishes 🙂

Quick question about the curriculum at Iowa. I know it's graded preclinicals, but are the exams in-house or NBME?
My understanding is that pre-clinical uses in-house exams but that in the clinical curriculum, NBME shelf exams are used for core rotations. This was a few years ago though I’m not sure if that has changed!
