So is it safe to assume that this is the last week that A's would be given out? I know they said April 30th but I feel like 90% of A's are given on Fridays

We can assume all we want but none of us know. Last year the class FB group was much bigger. In the last two weeks of April 2024 no As were reported (but also not enough reporting on SDN/CycleTrack etc). But this years situation is so different that we cannot predict

Lets put it this way they interview half of their instate applicant's. If you have a LM score thats pretty low like me (something like 67), not even an MCAT in the 10th percentile of matriculants. I'm assuming an R hoping for a WL at this point. HOWEVER, if you have gotten this far you're probably a lucky bastard. I consider myself very lucky, I may just slip into the 2029 class. HAHA, we will see on April 30th.

same lol ok wait for those u want to share ofc like this message if you have a LM score of around 66-69 (either lower than avg MCAT or GPA) and are waiting to hear back? I'm OOS in that position and just wondering how many of us there are or if you're just waiting to hear back in general

IS still waiting, LM of 68

UMass doesn't care about LM. My friend got accepted last December, LM 66, no gap year. I think they are looking for someone with big heart!
Yes I’ve also heard that UMass doesn’t care about stats as much as other schools. But also I have observed that OOS applicants who get in tend to be pretty high stats (again just my observations from my friends who go there rn)

Is your friend IS?

I have also heard from past and current students that they really like applicants who have demonstrated interest in primary care & are planning on pursuing it for residency

He is OOS, applied for regular MD, interviewed in December, got accepted in about two weeks.

Crazy take. They have a median MCAT score of 514 for marticulants. I was unaware they were looking for someone with a big heart. I would have mentioned that I have familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with preserved ejection fraction.

I don't know what my friend wrote in his essay, but I exactly know his MCAT is 509. Besides he had a big heart, he performed very well in his interview, that's my best guess.

No doubt your friend rocked everything and has a heart of gold. I'm not going to argue that adcoms care about stats, because as premed's we all know this to be generally true. There is certianly a lot of hope for people who are still waiting to hear back, its not over till its over.

In the mean time, a really good author/physcian is Siddhartha Mukherjee. Read everything this guy has puts out, pure gold.

I'm in-state, but my LM is in that range. I am a PURCH applicant and was WL'd for both. Praying to get lucky first week of May but *shrug*. For the sake of my mental, I stopped thinking about it and just waiting it out. As the goat, drake, once said "gods plan"

I find it so strange there haven't been any post interview Rs reported like ik there's prolly people from awhile ago who just aren't on here to say but still waiting to dump it all on us April 30th is cruel ngl lol

yea at this point i am almost confident that the final batch of post-ii R will be sent out either on 4/29 or 4/30 bc they just love procrastinating

Is this late-April rejection pattern also for people who had late interviews too? I interviewed in February and I was hoping they're still deciding not waiting to send rejections late-April but I'm not sure how any of this works at all... any advice/input is appreciated, ty!

From what I’ve seen there’s really no pattern / correlation for when you interviewed vs when you hear back

Ex. I interviewed in December, no reply yet. I know a couple of others here had earlier interviews as well, like August/Sept. someone who interviewed in Feb got rejected already (in this thread or reported on admit.org I forget)

Oh ok, that makes sense! Thank you!

I think it is so wild that a school can hold its applicants for this long. Many schools have earlier deadlines to commit, and with not knowing so long it really puts everyone in a limbo. I wish everyone the best these last few days of April as they wait to hear back from UMass <3

#OOS PURCH+ MD, II in December + Jan

I’m ngl idts they usually just send decisions in the morning from what I’ve seen. Idk if I’m wrong but last Friday of April last cycle was basically just the R dump right?

Edit- sorry guys I don’t wanna shoot down everyone’s hope. they sent out As today which idk if they did this late in April last cycle so there could still be WLs sent out next week 🤷🏽‍♀️

Some thoughts:

- “By March 15 of the matriculation year, issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and report those acceptance actions to AMCAS.” (Link: Traffic Rules)

^ this may mean that the FB group is underreporting & there are less seats than we actually think at this point, esp if they have sent out 225 A’s by 3/15.

- if the 150 WL number is still maintained, high chance that spots on the WL are filling up by now.

There are probably still going to be people WL/A next week and adcom is saving the R for 4/30. Who knows.

(they're saving the R for me 😭) ty for this analysis i will continue to be delusional

Post-II R this morning. Never heard anything LEAD specific, but assuming it’s for both. OOS but qualify for IS tuition. Interviewed 2/4 and 2/10. Good luck to those left in the running!
