Congratulations! For people getting interviews, when was your application complete?

Out of curiosity, has anyone else here submitted in June and not heard anything back?

I want to remind you @anonymous1234556 and everyone else, that this is the very first day that anyone is getting an interview invitation from SHSU.
Comparing yourself constantly to others and expecting "first come first serve" access to interviews will lead you to despair.
Your race is your own, and there are many months coming up for more interview invitations.

I concur with Wysdoc. In this eternal world filled with a chaotic symphony of medical school admissions, one must stay focused and patient, like a fisherman looking for his next meal. Let your application be the fishing reel that flows in the river of IIs. Looking elsewhere shall not change how the fishes in this river judge you.

Congrats all that got an interview already! 🙂 are they going to be in person or virtual?

Any current students that I could PM?
@sciencerules135 you can either look in last year’s thread to find some current students - or better still you will get to meet some on your interview day and I’m sure they will also have presentations about grading, attendance, all the key stuff

What is SHSU grading system? Are classes mandatory?
current OMS1 at SHSU and we are still in orientation so I may not be able to answer every question you guys have right now. However, we do know that anatomy lecture is mandatory and they require us to swipe in with our ID's. Once anatomy is over lecture attendance isn't mandatory but encouraged. Grading is pass/fail and you have a chance for "honors pass" if you make a certain score or above in the class. The score varies by block/class but there is not "honors track" like there is in undergrad.

Also congrats to everyone that has received II's there are plenty more to come!!

In house but they write questions comparable to step/comlex. SHSU has extremely high pass rates for step 1 and 2 for a new DO school (5 years old) so they are doing something right, lol.

What made you choose this school/what is your favorite thing about it!

Hi! current OMS1 as well. Congrats to everyone!! I love the school so far. the staff and faculty are really welcoming and want to see you succeed. I feel like they will prepare us well for boards. The data for board scores are clear evidence of that as well as the match rates of the recent graduates.

For those who have recieved interviews, here I have created and added a link to join GroupMe so we can hopefully fill each other in and feel more comfortable ahead of interview day. Cheers!
