Hey! I interviewed at SHSU last month and was just so impressed by the school and it is definitely somewhere I could see myself at. I was wondering if you have any insight to the post interview acceptance rate? I know SHSU interviews quite a bit of applicants. Just curious what my chances are of getting an A after interviewing I guess

If you loved it rank it # 1 for the match!
Best of luck

Sorry for the late reply, we had our first anatomy exams yesterday. I am not sure about hard statistics which I am sure you could find on the website, but from what I remember from my interview they planned to interview roughly 600 and took 162. So, you're looking at roughly 29% chance based on those numbers, but there is a lot that goes into how schools rank candidates pre and post interview which @Goro and @wysdoc have made posts.

Anyways, hopefully we will see you on campus in the fall and good luck on any other interviews you have!!

They'll probably accept at least 320 for a school with 160 seats.

Are you sure that you released your MCAT score to TMDSAS? That’s an extra step needed for the TMDSAS and AACOMAS applications.
If you have done that, yes email them & ask for a secondary

Has anyone interview already? How was it? (if you are able to share)
I felt that it was pretty low stress. The school was quite impressive and the interview day was quite fun even.

Can anyone kind of explain the match process does it guarantee an acceptance, and if not what are the typical odds of matching given multiple interviews?

It does not guarantee an acceptance. Here is the link to information and a video about the match process. I’ve heard people say if you get three interviews you are likely to get an A… but at the same time, this is not always true. You can interview at one school and get accepted and you can interview at five schools and not get accepted. I don’t know of any definite information on those stats.

If anyone doesnt mind sharing, how was the student ambassador group interview/what was that like? IIRC they didn't have that last year?

Can anyone briefly describe the interview style for Shsu?

One traditional one on one, one scenario based, group activity, student ambassador group interview, and written questions. It is pretty much every interview style all in one day.

Has anyone that has already interviewed gotten the file review complete email that people talked about in last years thread?

Good Afternoon Everyone! Are there any current students here who have any information regarding preaches? Thank you so much for your guidance.

One can only hope - but interviewed last Friday so tbh I don’t think so (but hope so). Wishing you luck for tm tho!
Sheeeesh! Perhaps they loved you so much that they wanted to extend that A right away! 🫡

Heyo! Was wondering if you had any information regarding prematches or decisions this cycle! Thank you 🥺
I wish I did, as I know how stressful and anxiety producing this time was for me last year. Unfortunately we don't even know when you guys are interviewing until they day before when they start setting up. I was lucky enough to prematch last year and I interviewed on September 29th and received the offer on Nov 8th. I do know they send them out in waves but have no idea about if the waves correspond to interview date or ADCOM ranking. They have reached their limit of 162 seats with our class and every subsequent class will have the same.

Also, you can still get into medical school without a prematch and even off the waitlist like one student in our class! Good luck to everyone during the rest of the cycle. If you have any other questions or want more info, feel free to DM me.

FWIW, last year I interviewed early (I think their first interview day in July, though I recall once I had the invite, I could select from a few dates?). First wave of pre-matches happened almost exactly a year ago.

Does a thank you later make you get ranked higher or is that a myth ?

Ah I see! To confirm, you are saying that SHSU fills their entire class with prematches? Or am I misinterpreting something?

I think they were just stating what the class size is.
But even if a school gave out a number of pre-matches equal to their class size, the Match Algorithm will note that some of those who pre-matched at SHSU did not rank it first, so the names of those 162 classmates could be different after Match Day.
