it’s just so weird, so many people interviewed but so little As reported

Is it just me or does the match list this year seem significantly worse than previous years?
 
For those that received the “interest in interview” email, has there been any movement?

Firstly % of students matched. Class size is around 200 but seemingly only 170 matched (~85%). Also in a lot of the more competitive specialties, the # of students matched was lower than previous years.

Wow 85% is relatively low
 
I called recently and they said my application was already reviewed but they can’t tell me when I’ll hear back, do you guys think if I submitted a letter they would go back and view that or is a decision already made once they review your file?

this schools process is absolutely atrocious; if they've reviewed your file and a decision is made they should let the applicant know. Its absolutely appalling. Worst app experience ever tbh

Edit:
For future applicants, this school will string you along 6+ months post-II with no response

I agree with this sentiment so much, don’t matter if you interview early you still won’t hear back.

And correction, the person who answered didn’t say a decision was made they just say the committee reviewed my app which is why I’m wondering if any letters I sent would even be looked at.

when did you interview, out of curiousity?
 
Could someone tell me if I'm just being neurotic-- I have an interview here next week and am scheduled later in the day/in the afternoon. I'm mildly afraid that it will run long and I won't have time to do the 4 PM writing assessment. Should I email admissions and ask what to do in this hypothetical situation LOL

definitely being neurotic. there's no way they'd penalize you for something they did

Anyone think they could be delaying decisions until they decide to do with that allotment of money Kathy Hochul said they’d give the hospital? They’re having a town hall deciding what to do w it and then submitting a proposal April 1st. Maybe they’re seeing if the school gets anything before deciding?

Wouldn’t this affect residency apps more though since I think it is funding for the hospital not the education sector of SUNY Downstate.

I think the delayed decisions are just a part of their strategy to get a decent yield… unfortunately.
 
Soooo is there a date that they will HAVE to let us know a decision by or has there been any mention on recent Virtual Chats?? I didn't see any explicit date on the AMCAS guidelines

yea confused too, based on cycletrack and last year sdn thread they started releasing waitlists around March 15...... maybe they're backed up, maybe not
 
Just something I noticed: In their emails about the info session they originally wrote “The general chat session with our students will be held on the 1st or 2nd Friday of every month beginning October 4, 2024 - May 9, 2025.”

However, in another email they said the last info session will be April 4th.

Are they cutting interview season short this year? Wondering what that means for decision timing
