What are you all’s LMs? How did you all feel you fit the school’s mission?

LM 78, ORM but first gen everything. Maybe I didn’t fit the mission that well? I mean I’m OOS and know next to nothing about Chicago southside other than binge watching Shameless… I’m overall a pretty cookie cutter applicant so I’m not surprised

+1 OOS pre-II rejection just now, submitted 7/2. LM 79, mission fit was ok, no significant connection to Chicago south side so that’s my guess. But happy since I got a different II at the same time

^^ seems like they're going in submission order since everyone's been late june/early july so far, so i guess we just have to wait :')

not gonna lie. no energy to apply here.

not a fan that they take T20 level applicants and then shoehorn them into really dodgy southside clinical work.
I know others have downvoted this, but I give you props for being self aware enough to recognize when a school's mission fit doesn't match your goals and interests. Pritzker is known as a service-oriented T20, and that means students who go there are more than happy to do their clinicals at hospitals that serve Chicago's socio-economically disadvantaged populations. It is not for everyone. I agree with the other commenters that you should probably save your money and withdraw from this one.

Moderator note:
Some of the posts in this thread have been deleted to avoid detracting from its original purpose. As @RunnerDad mentioned, UChicago's mission is not for everyone and that's okay! In general, students should not apply to schools whose mission(s) do not align with their own priorities. However, it is also possible to discuss these differences without denigrating a school and the community it serves.

Anyone know if they will open up more slots for interviews? The only 3 available slots don't work for me 🙁

I have been busy this summer for research. Can I still submit my application to Chicago, or is it too late to be considered? Am I totally screwed up?

bruh just submit. as everyone says, before labor day is fine, and even if you submit a few weeks after you'll probably be okay

Thanks! that reduced my pressure a bit. As from other threads, it says the ealier, the better for rolling applications. So if the application is late, unless it is extremely good, will be thrown away. Not sure if it is just a myth.

people are needlessly neurotic about being early. yes early is better but what's done is done. just try to submit as soon as you can, submitting in august is perfectly fine.

It’s a myth
