2024-2025 University of Chicago (Pritzker)

Thanks! that reduced my pressure a bit. As from other threads, it says the ealier, the better for rolling applications. So if the application is late, unless it is extremely good, will be thrown away. Not sure if it is just a myth.
people are needlessly neurotic about being early. yes early is better but what's done is done. just try to submit as soon as you can, submitting in august is perfectly fine.

It’s a myth

There are some schools that *really* value early submissions. Those are Jefferson, Michigan, NYU, Pittsburgh, and a few more. Other than that, most schools have just started interviewing, and according to LizzyM you will be considered “on time” if you’re complete before Labor Day!
oops, it is already biting me. I still have Pitts and NYU in my queue :-(

Pitt has given over half their interviews out, but NYU I think only 40% or so? Last year they had two big waves and one smaller wave, and they’ve only sent one big wave so far. I would definitely still shoot my shot at NYU! If you really like Pittsburgh you could throw your hat in there as well, but the chances are lower so you need to consider if the secondary fee is worth the $$$ to you or not!
thanks for the advice. Let me think about that.

how do u know this about pitt?

I quickly checked pitts thread. I did see quite a lot II sent out. It is kind of late for Pitts

An estimate based on cycletrack.
The problem with making this kind of estimate is sampling bias. People who are using cycletrack are more likely to be the people who have higher stats and have submitted on the early end, which would be likely to lead to earlier IIs being extended. There's a whole bunch of people still applying, and people still on the broad staircase being considered.

good thoughts from statistical angle! This also shows statistics course and knowledge is important for physicians and clinical research too

II this morning! complete 7/4 (early submitters are not yet cooked)

Can anyone comment on the phrasing of their II email? Mine called out my letters of recommendation specifically, wondering if that is specific to me or if it’s the same for everyone.

wdym called out like referenced to their strength?

Yeah, they said “Our Admissions Committee congratulates you on your achievements and the fine impression you have made both on those who have recommended you to us and on those of us here who have read your application”

Probably just a generic statement but I was kinda sweating over my LORs so I think I’m reading into it too much

+1 OOS II! Completed 7/8, it looks like they're still looking at the early-mid July secondary submissions

Big congrats. My secondary just went out at 1:30am today :) . So I would have to wait for a month

Good luck! Don't stress too much about longer wait times, UChicago continued to offer interviews as late as January last cycle

I think it is after, but not sure; that is why I am asking.
FAFSA for the next academic year will not be available until this fall 2024.
They are still trying to redesign the application after a very late roll-out last year, but it should open up to begin working on it between October and December 2024.
There is no point in working on it now, one less thing on your checklist.

They are just lingering there reviewing apps submitted from 7/1 to 7/10 for the past 4 weeks. Is it because they are busy with other activities such as white coat ceremonies etc?

Like can they just send me a rejection so I can move on? Looks a lot slower compared to last year’s thread

Last year, the biggest rejection wave of the entire cycle came on August 23rd! If they do things similarly this year, there will be some major movement soon.

I heard that they can keep you silent, and not sending R to you. Personally I like the idea just sending out R if not chosen for certainty.

I mean in this case no news is good news. If they haven’t sent you an R they likely will review your app again later in the cycle for a possible ii

Anybody else get the "Apply to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine" email from the DEI office like 30 minutes ago? It just feels interestingly timed given that admissions was sending out both IIs and Rs today lol
