Got the status update. Just reminding us how their cycle works and that people still on hold haven’t been forgotten about.

I was complete on 7/25, and radio silence... anyone else? I was under the assumption that VCU sent Rs out as they reviewed apps.

anyone know the post hold A rate?
I know it must happen but I haven't seen anyone report getting rejected before they're put on the post-interview hold, which makes me think that nearly everyone gets the hold post-interview. So I don't think there's any meaningful data to be drawn from getting a hold, unfortunately!

I imagine a lot of the students accepted in the first batch at VCU will decline it by the Spring as they may receive other acceptances to "better" schools.

I feel getting on the waitlist, showing interest through letters and having stats above the median puts you at a pretty good shot even if on hold

The interview day presentation link no longer works on my portal 🙁 Did anyone get a copy and can share?

Congrats to everyone who got an interview today! You'll love the interview session and learning about the school. I hope to see you all being neurotic with me on here in mid-December for the next decisions!

@ClashRoyaleKing i wish you luck! How does VCU roll out decisions? I just scheduled for an early Dec interview — would i also hear back in mid Dec?
I also scheduled for first few days of December and am wondering the same thing!
They release admissions on four dates each cycle. The first was October 16th. The next ones are December 16th, and then early February and mid March, if I remember correctly. Since you are both interviewing before December 16th, that date should be your first potential date for an admissions offer.

My interview is scheduled almost 2 weeks before the 16th so it’ll be an honor to be right there with you tweaking/refreshing my email 🫡

Just got the R email. Did everyone have this statement about “strongly suggesting” I consult an advisor/admin if I need to reapply?

I have my interview with VCU in early December, anyone got any pointers on how to prep? This is my first interview so I'm super nervous.
They are super nice and are intentional about calming nerves and making it low pressure, so nothing to be nervous about. Just prepare to answer the typical questions (I.e. tell me about yourself, why medicine, why VCU) and standard MMI scenarios. You’ll be good!

Awesome thank you so much!! That’s a relief to hear they’re intentional about keeping it low pressure

What do you mean by release admissions? As in releasing information about whether you’re accepted or waitlisted or rejected for another round of applicants?

No. They offer only acceptances on those four dates. If you are not offered admission during any of those dates, you become a part of the waitlist.

I submitted one in their portal and ended up getting an interview.
This is weird bc the FAQ section in the portal says “May I submit additional materials and/or updates to my application while it is being considered?
  • ONLY at the request of the Admissions Committee. Otherwise, please DO NOT submit additional materials or updates. We believe that the AMCAS application you initially submitted is representative of your academic abilities and activities. Unsolicited materials will be discarded.”

That's interesting, according to MSAR "Notice of significant updates that detail new grades, recent presentations or newly published articles are accepted." Tho I assume the portal has the most UTD information.

One would think but who knows. I kind of had to search for the info, it's not immediately obvious and there is a place to upload new docs on the portal.

I mean good on you, clearly it worked out 🤣

Thanks! Yeah I'm not saying the update letter contributed to me getting an II but it definitely wasn't a bad thing. I probably should have looked into it more though.

how soon after sending the update did u get the II

My application was complete 7/19 (with secondary submitted) and I haven't heard anything since :/ (OOS applicant)

MSAR says they accept updates, interest, and intent letters but it says they accept "updates that detail new grades, recent presentations or newly published articles are accepted"

I interviewed 10/16 and am on hold - could/should I send an update and can it be about service/clinical related stuff instead?
