Being on the “Waitlist” is higher priority than being on the “Alternate List”. If you’re on the WL, they want to offer you a seat, but the class is full. If you’re on the Alternate List, they’ll review your application again when more seats are open and decide if they want to offer you a seat or not. So, by that logic, they’ll offer seats to everyone on the Waitlist before they offer any seats to someone on the Alternate List. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Yea I’m reading last year’s thread and they said the same thing… but I saw ppl who were on alternate and accepted later and the official website says “The total number of alternates differs from year to year; a five average would be approximately 60 alternates. Every year a significant number of alternate candidates are offered acceptance into the class” so def holding out hope it’s not over until it’s over 🗣️
 
My email says waitlist but the homepage form is saying do you want to accept your spot on the alternate list.

Just had interview and I asked this. Waitlisted individuals have PRIORITY for acceptance if a spot opens up. Alternates are only accepted if a spot opens up that is not filled by a waitlisted student.

On a side note, can anyone tell me why they decided to do this 😭

Ugh why do they have to put tiers for their alt/WL 🤧 but I still have hope… it’s only middle of the cycle so we still have lots of time to see movement! (I have been stalking the 2023-2024 thread)

LOL Dw I was panicking too why the emails are different… so from what I read from the previous thread and what other ppl are saying this is what I gathered:
If you are waitlist you are priority… if you are alternate list then you will be considered after the WL has been contacted…
It sounds that this is the first wave of WL bc it seems tht the class is full rn… however we can expect ppl to withdraw their As when they hear back from other schools in the upcoming months so WL (you) will be offered the seat before alternate (me)… the rolling admissions is just a rough process rip

This is post interview… from the previous thread I saw the school sending interviews up until end of April! Good luck you got this!

damn so they are still interviewing students even though they are technically out of spaces for the class?? i know that spots fill up when studetns withdraw but will they have that many?

my thoughts ^ i have my interview scheduled but almost seems pointless since seats are already full anyway..
 
i think what happens with this school is that they know a lot of students will drop their A’s so they need “back-ups” so they continue interviewing. I spoke to a student recently who was on the waitlist until a week a before school started. lol

Don’t get discouraged! I am trying to minimize my time on these threads because it is such draining process and comparison is truly the thief of joy… dw u will do great in ur interview!!! I am going to go and touch some grass because refreshing my emails, sdn, cycle track, and reddit is def not helping lol

i can't see when they're scheduling out into since I already had my interview

however, on the website it says Sept-March

Typically how long after receiving this email can I anticipate hearing back about getting an interview? I was complete in January, ahhh does anyone know if they're still sending out interview invites or have we reached the end? 🙁

I got that email 11/27 and got the II on 12/10, though everyone’s experience will likely be different

I got this email on 10/14. Dead silent since then. I just sent a LOI as this is my top choice.

Received this 7/22.. I just think it means your application is complete.

Rest of the email says “If you are selected for an interview at any point in the admissions cycle, you will receive an email notification outlining your next steps.”

I think it's more likely than not, but they have a lot of WL movement so I would give it a go if you wanted to attend.
