Hi all!

I’m still hopefully waiting to hear back from UTSW for an II, but so far I haven’t received anything. I put together the attached spreadsheets that break down MCAT and GPA data from TMDSAS applicants and the corresponding interview-invitation rates for each school. Feel free to take a look.

I’ve been fortunate to receive IIs from Baylor, UTMB, and TTUHSC El Paso, but I’m confused about why I’m hearing from these schools and not others like UTSW. I’ve seen applicants with a very wide range of LM scores receive IIs there, so I’m trying to understand how schools decide whom to invite. For reference, my LM is 74.

If anyone has insight into how UTSW or other TMDSAS schools approach II selection, I’d really appreciate it. Tagging @wysdoc and @TMDSASSY in case you have any thoughts!
Your timing, your writing, your goals and activities all play a role. Celebrate the wins!

Hello! Would anyone say it is best to submit a letter of intent before the second round of pre-match II in late november. I'm sure this is my top choice, but I don't know if it would be better to wait until after the round or try and get it in before.

Is UTSW done with sending interview invites? I saw last year's anomaly going into December but not sure if it'll repeat this year 🙁

If we got an A, do we wait to send in transcripts until after graduation and grades are final? Confused bc tmdsas says to send it in now.

I've seen that UTSW is pre-match heavy a lot on this thread, but I have also heard that there's a lot of movement after match day. Not sure if either statement is more accurate, but anyway, I'm trying to ask if I can still have hope if I interviewed early October and haven't heard back.

UTSW usually issues prematches before Christmas and may be one last time before match deadline.

There are always openings during the match process because many have dual prematches in both Baylor and UTSW (occasionally with Dell but that is a much smaller number) who have to choose one or the other.

As an OOS applicant who interviewed on 10/29 but didn’t get accepted during the November wave, is it most likely gonna be a WL or R at this point?

There are officially 23 seats per the rules for OOS. Usually they fill the seats at some point and then wait for people to drop in order to choose someone else.

No one knows if they filled the seats yet. So anything is possible but not sure they issue Rs to interviewed candidates until much later in the process (March or April?).

agree with this and most likely you will hear your decision around the same time as our TMDSAS Match Day for the in-state applicants (this year it's February 13th)

I totally blew this interview 😭. The actual interviews went so well! But I just had a massive brain fart because they split the interview over two days, and I totally forgot about the check-in. They called me and were clearly upset because I had not joined the Zoom link. Stupid me was sitting in front of my computer the whole time, just waiting to click the web link to start my first interview. I am a case manager, so I usually have a million things on my schedule, and the check-in part totally went over my head. I wonder if the staff is gonna flag me straight to the R.

How did they display that “they were upset with you”?

She sounded annoyed over the phone. At the moment, my brain was scrambling trying to figure out if the link went to spam, and she said that was not the case since I had confirmed. She said I would not be allowed to interview anymore. At that very moment, I found an email, was panicking, clicked the link, and she said, "I see you joining now, so I will hang up." I apologized while three people on Zoom just stared at me. I was allowed to continue, but I am sure you can imagine how I felt. 😭

dw too much! I recall the check-in thing on that same day of the actual interview and it was super short (as in it ended early)
