I applied to SUNY Downstate for their PhD (no MD) program in Neural and Behavioral science. However, I haven't heard anything aside from when I called on April 30th -- they said I was the 8th candidate, however they only had 4 spots. Therefore, I am 4th on the waitlist. They said applicants have two weeks to accept the offer, otherwise it goes down the list. Does it seem probable that I will get in? Does anyone know of others who have applied?

I find it weird I haven't received any notifications via email or snail mail. Do you think I should call on monday to get an update on how many spots are open?

(sorry if i should of posted this in the official thread, i thought it was a bit different considering this is just PhD. I scoured the internet all night looking for some information this was the closest i found.)

As this is for the MD applicants I can't offer much help. I don't know the trend of waitlist movement in PhD Programs. I don't see how calling and finding out more information would hurt you, so go ahead and call.
