Hey guys, I got this message from CUSOM this morning and I was wondering if y'all think this is a good or bad thing at this time.....

"Thank you again for taking the time to complete your application to Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Your application has been placed on hold. Our committee is still interested in your candidacy and asked that your file be placed on hold for further review.

The Admissions Committee reviews completed applications periodically throughout the admission cycle. Should they choose to grant you an interview, you will be notified via telephone."

My interview group was actually really small -- just 4 people including myself. A few people I know that interviewed there said they were in groups of 5-10 people.

Does anyone know how long this waitlist is? Was I "passed up" since some waitlisted people who interviewed after my interview date got accepted?

Thanks Medickdb and Roundeyes for your response..

Was yesterday the deadline for "seat deposit" ? or is it today evening ?

I have not done any upper division bio courses yet - but I do have an interview scheduled for next week - Does anyone know whether this is going to affect my interview and further decision by any means ?

The deadline for the seat deposit is dependent on when you heard back, I think. My deadline for the seat deposit was one month after I received my acceptance call.

Yes, I understand...I am checking about the most current deadline (which I guess is today or was yesterday) - was just wondering about that...

Hi everyone,
I am applying in next year's cycle and was wondering how good my chances would be here. Ill be applying as early as possible, OOS 3.55 cGPA, 3,45 sGPA, 32 MCAT. Decent volunteer, research, shadow experience, also work as a personal trainer. Highly involved in my fraternity and our school's fraternity council. Anyone with similar stats?

If u meet the mission, you'll not only get accepted but have a strong chance for a scholarship

Almost identical stats. Accepted + scholarship. Shoe in as long as you do well at the interview and identify with their mission (rural/underserved medicine + interest in primary care + interest in staying in NC to practice).

I am interviewing on 3/17. does anyone know if the class has been filled or if I stand a chance? I know it is a super late interview and I'd like to stay realistic with my expectations.

Hey...I had a conversation with the Admissions 2 days back and they mentioned that there are only like 5 seats left.

Thanks for the help. Do you mind telling me how much your scholarship was for? Sorry if that is too personal.

Anyone know what the attire is for accepted students day? Business casual?

Last year it was straight up non-formal casual. A lot of us wore shorts, sandals, and a shirt/polo cause it was pretty hot that day. I don't see why it would be any different this year.

Much better than my stats and I was accepted. Campbell is looking for a particular type of person who meets their mission and the "feel" of their school. If you are meant to be there, you will get in without a doubt. 🙂 Good luck!

I don't know if you saw my post earlier, but I was accepted into last years class off of the wait list the second day of school. I deferred for a year and will be attending this fall, but don't lose hope! I interviewed for the wait list specifically and still made it. The seats move around a lot. People hear back from other schools and chose to attend those. 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll be hoping for the best.

Can anyone tell me if they allow biochem to be substituted for ochem?

Biochemistry is not a prerequisite. Organic chemistry 1 and 2 are both prerequisites. You cannot take biochemistry without Organic chemistry. They highly recommend having an additional 2 courses in science, but biochem is not mandatory for acceptance.

I am taking ochem 2 in May and was not sure if I should take biochem I appreciate the responses and information.

As I understand it, Biochem is not a requirement. However, it is highly recommended to establish a strong base of knowledge for the first few semesters in med school.

Thank you I may look into taking a class depending on time

Hey I am coming from far so I was wondering if it is worth it to go to the accepted students day or will we have the opportunity again to see the campus and get the orientation during beginning of the class period? Do you think its worth it? Is it just presentations and lunch?
Thanks

There's an orientation before school starts. If you're looking for a roommate, I've been told that Accepted Students Day is the best time to find one.

I also received that gut-wrenching wait list email. 🙁 Has anyone contacted them to see which tier on the wait list they are? Im going to try next week. Man I really love this school! Hopefully we get the acceptance call very soon!!

don't give up just yet...campbell is a newer DO school and there is a good chance some students will end up taking slots at other places.....all schools should see a little movement since most don't over admit by a ton

I plan on calling them Monday.

Last I heard, 159 of 162 spots were filled. That could always change though.
