Campbell University (CUSOM) Discussion Thread 2014 - 2015

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'll research it of course
I have my interview next Monday, anyone have any advice?

Be yourself, be honest, and appreciate the opportunity.

The interviewers can see through you giving answers you think they want to hear, and the interview is about them finding out if you are a good fit. You meet the criteria for admission, no they want to know that you are someone they want their name associated with.

I have withdrawn my interview spot here. Good luck to all you future physicians... Or as I see our greatest potential--future healers.

Be honest, and in all honesty be prepared to be blown away by a beautiful facility and amazing staff. I straight up told them I had no interest in primary care and wanted to do surgery, they were fine with it because NC is lacking surgeons.

Also, there is one professor who will give you a sheet of paper with a question on evolution, or something of that sort. The correct answer is not important, but what is important is being able to explain your choice to her and why you thought the others were wrong. She was simply looking for me to think deeply.

Good luck!

Could those who have been accepted or have an interview share their stats?

How long did it take you to receive a Secondary from CUSOM? I'm just hoping that I won't be too late to join in on the fun in NC!

Does this school give any IS preferences
A good portion of our class is from North Carolina. It is the most represented state. That said, there are individuals from many states. I would guess about 2/3 are from other states.

Accepted here after my 11/11 interview. Good Chance I'll go here, was really impressed. I'm from Seattle and not one student on interview day was from NC. Stats: 3.2, 3.1, 29.

Hey to those who sent in their deposit,
did they notify you that they received it?
I sent it last week and don't want to miss the deadline because they didn't receive it.

Yes, but it took them like 1.5 weeks. If you're worried, you can always try calling them.

I sent a certified bank check. Which is pretty much the same thing as a money order.

So a cashier's check would be okay? I'd just rather have the money withdrawn from my account immediately, rather than waiting for them to cash the check. Especially since it's a somewhat large sum. Guess I just don't feel comfortable leaving that much money floating out there.

Anyone who has interviewed here can give some tips? I am just a little worried that for three individual panel interviews, would they run out of questions to ask? lol and did they ask you the same questions? or did you have a chance to bring up anything you want to mention?
Please give some insight about this anyone. Thanks 🙂

Got the call from Joy today with my first/only acceptance! I was very impressed with this school and loved all the faculty so I'm most likely packing up and moving to NC!

@Tliu91 Cross referencing your ID with names on FB group, I can see you like basketball. Me too. We'll play sometime. Don't go too hard on me though.

Thanks @allprayers23 for the feedback 🙂
I am just wondering that will interview in February put me at a disadvantage? I just realized that, from earlier thread, the school will only give out 162 acceptances for 162 seats as of now, and I am not sure how many acceptances they have already given out, but I think that the February interviews will get fewer and fewer acceptances since those seats have been filled up.
Does anyone know about this?

More of a pick up street ball kinda guy....
It would be funny if we played basketball with a medicine ball.

I should probably note now that I suck at basketball... lol

It's okay. I suck at saving people's lives or preventing diseases but hopefully I'll get good at it.

Would guess not important at all.

Also, I've been told directly- If you get an invite then you are "qualified" for the school and your stats/credentials are sufficient. The interviews are all about assessing "fit," and it goes both ways.
Schools say that, but a lot of times your 'app' hasn't gone before the committee yet. When its time to make cuts, very trivial things can make the difference between multiple 'good' fits. Its how it goes.

But I agree it does go both ways. I am sure if you thought about going to two different programs you know how hard it can be to pick one. Same thing for applicants.

Btw for anyone, what is the grading like? (i.e. Pass/Fail, all numerical, ABCF?)

Can we be beset friends? (Not trying to suck up to you so you can help me with pharmacology in the future...)
One of my interviewers definitely mentioned the peer tutoring program several times. Not sure I have a choice haha!
