I have 2 weeks of death coming. Then sweet sweet release to break [emoji16]
Lol you get a break between quartersI’m a bit disappointed that we only get one week of break and then onto our next quarter.
I’m ready for summer break!!!
Somehow I didn't see this until now lol. It was good! It was surprisingly easy!@bryndiana.jones how was your first surgery!?!
Our break is one day in the middle of the semester, which is basically an extra day to study and cry.Lol you get a break between quarters
I feel like that's pretty normal for schools on a quarter based system. We go pretty far into June... it would be ridiculous to expect us to go over 6 months without a break lolLol you get a break between quarters

That makes sense, I guess. But doesn't everyone/most schools have spring break anyways?I think the schools that don’t get a break between quarters are semester schools that break the semester into two. So not a true quarter system school like Oregon State.
Yeah, but I know with Illinois ski’s said they start the next quarter right before their break. So it’s the same time between Winter and Spring break basically for both of you, they just move on to the next quarter before break. That makes sense, I guess. I went to a semester school and as of right now, I like quarters. Since there is SO MUCH material, it's nice to have finals that only cover 10 weeks of material instead of 14. I may change my mind when I'm in school far into June though. But tbf, you can't rely on Oregon to have nice weather until the 4th of July so prob won't be missing much lol.Yeah, but I know with Illinois ski’s said they start the next quarter right before their break. Tbh I miss the quarter system. I went to a quarter school for undergrad and I liked having nothing to worry about during spring break cause we’d just had finals![]()
Edit: realized that I didn't address the "we won't be expected to just look at an animal and know what's wrong". Very true! We also won't be able to move around their insides the same way we do in anatomy, if at all. We also won't have the isolated tracts or hearts or any of that. So anatomy doesn't really lend itself (at least in our curriculum) to translating to medicine directly. It's just purely so we learn the structures.

We don’t get a break between first and second quarter first semester though. 12 weeks from the beginning of school until thanksgiving.Yeah, but I know with Illinois ski’s said they start the next quarter right before their break. But that’s what I’m saying 😛 you’re a semester school that splits the semester into two, so you have to same breaks as a regular semester school, even though Illinois calls them quarters. A true quarter system school it’s typically Septemeber to December, January to March, and then March to June for the academic year divisions. We don’t get a break between first and second quarter first semester though. 12 weeks from the beginning of school until thanksgiving.
That’s a trimester, yo 😛But that’s what I’m saying 😛 you’re a semester school that splits the semester into two, so you have to same breaks as a regular semester school, even though Illinois calls them quarters. Nope, cause there’s summer quarter too, it’s just optional 😛That’s a trimester, yo 😛
Well I know there are some letters of the alphabet in there, though I've always kind of wondered why they chose QRST and not like...MNOPanyone wanna teach me how to read an ECG in like 10 mins? no? no takers? ok...😳
Hi yes agree where do we sign upI personally would love to give block scheduling a try after having 16 week semesters and 8 week quarters. 2 or 3 weeks of only one or two subjects sounds bomb.
Shhh keep your voice down, the Davis people will show up and start braggingI personally would love to give block scheduling a try after having 16 week semesters and 8 week quarters. 2 or 3 weeks of only one or two subjects sounds bomb.

that would've made it so much easierWell I know there are some letters of the alphabet in there, though I've always kind of wondered why they chose QRST and not like...MNOP
the idea of learning gross anatomy on a block schedule literally makes me want to vomitI personally would love to give block scheduling a try after having 16 week semesters and 8 week quarters. 2 or 3 weeks of only one or two subjects sounds bomb.

Typically anatomy isn't taught as a block on its own but integrated into the other blocks. So you learn neuro anatomy in the neuro block, cardiovascular anatomy in the cardio block, etc etc.the idea of learning gross anatomy on a block schedule literally makes me want to vomit

yeah because then you could look at an ECG and just say "MMMMNOPE" and be donethat would've made it so much easier
Your semesters are only 12 weeks long?! So you only have 24 weeks of classes per year? 😱 I must be missing somethingWe don’t get a break between first and second quarter first semester though. 12 weeks from the beginning of school until thanksgiving.
well that makes a lot more senseTypically anatomy isn't taught as a block on its own but integrated into the other blocks. So you learn neuro anatomy in the neuro block, cardiovascular anatomy in the cardio block, etc etc.
this is just for physiology. I passed the test for sure and ECGs look a little bit less like abstract artDammit I knew I was forgetting something. It's PQRST. Or MNOPQ. Well, I've ruined my joke, and taught you all incorrect things.
I passed cardiology I swear.

Oh good, you don't need to know about MMMMM's yet thenthis is just for physiology. I passed the test for sure and ECGs a little bit less like abstract art
Hrm I think we have 15 weeks of classes (plus 1-2 weeks of finals) per semester. 1 week of clinical experience and 1 week of PBL stuff. So that makes it 13ish weeks of classes. Our semesters are 16 weeks, with normally 2 reading days and 2 or 3 testing days at weeks 4, 8, 12, and 16. But we are on clinical rotations for 8 of the 32 weeks. So we only have 24 weeks of class first through third year.
You misread my post.Your semesters are only 12 weeks long?! So you only have 24 weeks of classes per year? 😱 I must be missing something
And 12 weeks uninterrupted is not that much, you must've not understood a break between legit quarters is 100% needed lol. I'm not doing 20+ weeks of classes straight

Oh, except I guess now they also have midterm weeks so make that 12!
EwWe still have lectures on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of midterm week, and Monday and tuesday of finals week -_-
University wide policy is that we have to have a study day prior to the start of finals, so vet students get that benefit too.I wish we had study days before finals. They basically give us the weekend between the end of classes and the start of finals week
As someone who is on their fifth test in a week, I don't know if it would be better or worse for me to take them all in a condensed couple of days or just have this hellish spread that we have now
I think I would get more sleep and be less grumpy if it were condensed, but I also think I would do much worse on exams on averageDude, I'm torn. I don't know if I would be doing any better if I wasn't on the condensed format. But I also feel like I wouldn't get so lost in the material.
