I was definitely going to fly until I found out my dad was also planning on heading to Omaha soon so that he can pick up an old van that he gave one of my brothers a few years back (he's a hobby mechanic, so he just doesn't let vehicles go for long, lol). So we're going to be tag-teaming it. It'll be nice since I don't get to see him all that much since I'm down in SLC now, plus I can practice interview questions with him on the way 🙂. So it's kind of like killing two birds with one stone in that sense. Plus, I'm kind of used to the I-80 trek to Omaha (I went to school there and have made the trip more times than I care to count), so it won't be that bad.

I actually work in a lab in Ogden (Cornerstone) and commute from Midvale. It takes me an hour there and an hour back if I drive, but I try to ride the frontrunner as much as possible, especially if I need to study. The job really isn't amazing, but I work really independently developing methods and such, so it's enjoyable for me, and if I use the commute time effectively it's a win-win. If for some reason I don't get in this year, I'm finally going to get my EMT training done so I can start doing actual medically related work again.

I seeeeee! That situation sounds MUCH more reasonable. And your commute for work isn't as bad as I thought. Good luck on the interview!
 
Interviewed yesterday. Amazing school! It has officially become my top choice. All there is left to do is join the waiting game 😛 ... Congrats on those who got accepted!!

Agreed. Yesterday's interview was awesome! I hope we all made it, it'll take me a whopping five minutes to put down that deposit!

9/14 interviewee here. Accepted today at about 2pm! First of the season!
 
Hey guys, Im a little behind the curve. Received DMU secondary late. But just got interview invite less than two weeks after submitting secondary. Any tips those 'veterans' of the interview process would like to bestow upon those about to "Enter the Dragon'? Good luck to all!

Just relax and be yourself. My interview day was actually FUN. I thought I'd be a nervous wreck all day, but I actually enjoyed myself. Be sure to check out the interview section of SDN to get ideas for interview questions. Good luck!

Get the Cajun trail mix from the cafeteria. It's delicious.
 
I sent in my secondary two weeks ago but I wasn't able to submit LoRs until this past Monday. DMU sounds like an amazing school, so hopefully I still have a shot :xf:

You definitely still have a shot 🙂 I was complete in Late Oct/Early Nov
 
Can't believe myself. Just missed my connecting flight in Denver at 10am. Next flight is at 7pm!!! Why did I lose track of time? FML

Are you flying to DMU or back from DMU?
 
any hotel recommendation? it would be nice to get continental breakfast, free shuttle from/to the airport and from/to the school

3.75 sci, 3.71 non sci, 29P. Lots of shadowing and I've been working with a DO for almost two years now. I didn't feel like I was strong enough in the interview guess I was right lol

Embassy suites has a free shuttle, their continental breakfast is FANTASTIC (omelette bar, hot breakfast, etc etc) and if you stay the night after interview, there is a mangers reception with free booze and food at 5:30! Also very close to downtown and zombie burger!!

I just got settled into my hotel. The weather is perfect! Excited for tomorrow!
 
+1 for staying at the Hampton.

Lunch is a great time to learn more about the school and life as a med student from the student ambassadors. Any last minute details to talk about why you love DMU right before the interviews is a great opportunity!

I graduated already and if all goes well, I will have a year off in which I absolutely refuse to study 😛


Btw, the Hampton is nice, the shuttle will drive you within a 3 mile radius of the hotel too. My only complaint is that it's literally right next to the airport and every so often an airplane flies over which is pretty loud.
 
The Adm.Office said they received my lors on Friday. Anyone knows when can I expect "ready for review" status. Does the office actually email You when the application is complete? Thx

I may be a nerd, but what would I go study? I've been out of school for just over a year now. Plus, am I still a "pre-med" when I have acceptances? Please say no. Like being a teenager, so ready to leave that world behind.

Yeah, not looking forward to looking forward to interviews pretty much the whole time. Food is much more appetizing AFTER the interview.

It's really not bad... DMU does a great job of making sure everyone is relaxed throughout the day. Honestly, I didn't even hardly think about my interview until after lunch. You'll be fine... don't worry about it!

I had the last interview and the day was so fun that I wasn't even stressed seeing other people get called for there's while I waited.

They will email you when you are complete.
