Anyone else on pre-interview hold and really wanting an interview here? I have mediocre stats too. Why must they make me hopeful 🙁

I think you are drinking the kook aid. Dr. Franklin is burning well established bridges at DMU. She is angering leadership at the hospitals in Des Moines and the faculty are leaving in mass secondary to her firing Dr. Reed. She is proposing radical solutions to non-problems. DMU has a great product, arguably the best inthe DO world and I see her changes threatening that. If the board is smart she'll be gone soon.
what is this in reference to??
Day 62...called and they said my file still hasn't been discussed and no change. Cool.
I'm not on hold but I am waiting on an ii I was complete 10/22 🙁
How do you know you're on pre-interview hold? Did they email you? I've been complete for 54 days now, and still haven't heard a thing 😴

I don't think my stats are that bad. 3.3S, 3.5C, 30S. I got a 3.95 GPA for grad, tons of EC, experience working in a developing country, upcoming presentations for the NIH, and a couple patents pending. If those are rough stats, then I don't even know. But yeah. Good luck with your apps, hopefully they'll get to you with an ii soon!
I think he was just inquiring about your approximate stats, not insulting them
Ahh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up felix2929. That's the problem with text. Tons of room for misinterpretation. Either that or is it because I'm ESL. >_< Hahaha, Sorry ajh1983. But irregardless, hope you hear back soon.
interviewed at DMU 11/19. was AMAZING! the students/falculty were sooo nice! My interviewers were super chilled. No grilling, no ethics questions !!!( I was so surprised)! students had exams that day so we only got to talk to them during lunch. Super helpful and fun. Pretty cool facillities with the SIMs and all but I'm iffy on the lottery system for 3rd yr rotations. They said 95% of their students gets where they want to go. We will see how I did in a few weeks! hopefully I get accepted! Ahhhhhhh the waiting game again!

Hey, I was at the 11/19 interview too. I was the one from Jersey. Do you think they'll get the decisions out today, it looks like last week they put out the letters for the ppl that interviewed on monday that wed. I hate this waiting nonsense. Were you in the D.O. group or the DPM group?
Got a really nice letter with a small personal, hand-written note from Dr. M congratulating me on my acceptance. DMU is so nice and amazing, and I'm a little sad that I won't be attending next year.
yes, rough meaning approximate. I hope we all hear something soon with interviews being scheduled so far out at this point. DMU is easily my top pick at this point.

Yay, got an interview invite! I was complete on Sept 27th, for anyone interested. Sadly the dates available are nowhere near my Dec 17th KCOM interview. I'm not sure if I can really afford two separate trips to the midwest...
when did you interview?
Hi everyone!
Not sure if you know me, but I used to be very active on the forum a while back. I'm currently a 1st year at DMU. It's been a couple months since I last posted here, so I just wanted to congratulate everyone who has been accepted!!! 😀
If you have any questions about the school or anything, feel free to PM me. I'll try to remember to check frequently. DMU is a fantastic school with amazing faculty and students (i promise I wasn't paid to say that, haha).
And just for old times sake:

So I interviewed a while ago, the very end of September, and never actually wrote about my experience.
I was hosted by a student who despite me being delayed leaving Denver several hours and arriving at almost midnight the night before an anatomy practical, he insisted on still letting him host me despite me telling him I didn't want to inconvenience him. I was really tired between having an interview the day before my interview here and waking up at sixish to get ready because he had to be at school early, but couldn't have been more grateful of how awesome he was about it all.
The interview day itself was pretty standard as far as being shown around, and the facilities are really nice as far as simulations and whatnot and the OMM demonstration was pretty neat to watch firsthand. We met a great deal of the faculty and everything was explained very clearly about curriculum changes, IT changes that potentially were coming, rotations, etc.. Lunch was glorious due to them saying get as much as you want to eat which for me was absolutely great. All the students I met were wonderful, and they sat with us and answered all of our typical questions at lunch as well as while awaiting our interviews. Everyone was so nice, encouraging and genuinely interested in us, which made me feel so comfortable. My interviewers were an M2 and Dr. Wilson. They asked standard questions as well as focusing a lot on my application in particular and what I wrote about in my personal statement. I was asked about flunking out my freshman year, <1.0 GPA... but they sincerely seemed impressed with my performance the remainder of my time in school. My research interests came up a bit and we even discussed potential for scholarships based on my experiences in the lab and I inevitably walked out "knowing" I would be accepted. I was the last to interview and when I came out most everyone was gone, as you would expect as my interview did run long and I was last, but a student who I believe is part of the student government or whatnot approached me and spoke to me about my interview and told me how he didn't want me to feel forgotten about and wanted to make sure I was good on getting back to the airport and so forth.
Des Moines is a lot nicer than I had envisioned in my head prior to visiting and thanks to my host I got to see a bit of downtown before I left.
I was accepted within a week if I remember right, and unless one of my state schools takes me (tuition difference), I will most likely matriculate.
I got an acceptance with a 25 MCAT and my interview went very well. They didn't even ask about my low verbal score. I have very good ECs and they were most impressed with my experience. So, there is definitely a chance with low scores. You just need to have other impressive things on your app to make up for that low score.Have any of you gotten in with a lower MCAT score? By lower, I mean <26. I got an interview with a lower MCAT, and so far the only people on this thread that I saw commenting on that issue have gotten wait-listed/rejected even though their interview went supposedly well. I am obviously going either way, it would just be nice to know if there is even a remote chance of getting an acceptance... Thanks🙂
Thank you. This gave me hope, especially as my lower score is due to verbal as well...I got an acceptance with a 25 MCAT and my interview went very well. Just received a personalized letter from Dr. Mueller about attending DMU-COM. Gosh, this school treats its students so well - even the potential ones!
I must say that I have been surprised yet again by this school.

tl;dr
Interview is relaxed; just be yourself. DMU is awesome!
FYI, I got an email from Anna last week that the scholarship committee would be meeting in the next few weeks, and once a final decision was made, those who have scholarship offers will be emailed.
