Hoping iis come out this week! Wishful thinking. It seems like over a week has passed since invites, I suppose since they are actively interviewing. Remaining optimistic 🙂
 
Do you reckon we'll have another round of decisions this Thursday? Last week's decisions came out on Thursday, so maybe that's the day that they meet to discuss the previous week's interviews?

I'm hoping for sooner! It was 7 business days from the last interview date until when they heard - that would mean Tuesday (since I interviewed 9/14)... :xf:

I interviewed the same day. That would be solid.
 
Anyone here going to be interviewing with me on Oct. 1st? Only a week away! ...I'm really nervous.
 
This school just rocked my world. What everyone is saying in previous reviews on this thread is true. PM me for specifics.
 
Anyone interviewing this Friday (28th)? If so, would anyone want to meet up the night before and grab a bite to eat and maybe see a bit of Des Moines?

I'm interviewing at DMU in a week (Oct. 1st). Does anyone have any tips or particularly tricky interview questions that tripped them up? Any help or advice at all would be much appreciated. Also, ill be driving in from out of town and staying in a hotel, does anyone know of somewhere nearby I can go to get something to eat and watch some of the Bear's Cowboy's game that night? Go Bears!

I'm driving from Salt Lake City, UT (~15 hr drive) 😛 ...probably going to stop in Omaha, NE and stay with one of my brothers, who both just bought houses this year. After that, it's only ~2 hrs... which is actually what I commute each day for work haha... my poor car.

The question I've got to ask myself is... to drive down on Sunday and pay for a room in Des Moines or just make the trip really early Monday morning since the chances of me actually sleeping the night before is almost zero... decisions, decisions! What do you guys think?
 
I'll be interviewing Oct. 1st, also coming from chicago area. The more of these posts I read the more relaxed im starting to feel. Just practice answering as many questions as you can get your hands on and you'll be fine. Best of luck, I'll see you there!

I see the benefit in driving to save money, but 15 hours? Dude you could fly, and make up for the lost $$ by picking up a few hours at work? I'm up in Ogden and there's NO WAY I'd make that drive haha!

Also... Where in UT do you work? No job in my mind is worth that commute! I'd just move closer to it or get another job. Cool job?

I was definitely going to fly until I found out my dad was also planning on heading to Omaha soon so that he can pick up an old van that he gave one of my brothers a few years back (he's a hobby mechanic, so he just doesn't let vehicles go for long, lol). So we're going to be tag-teaming it. It'll be nice since I don't get to see him all that much since I'm down in SLC now, plus I can practice interview questions with him on the way 🙂. So it's kind of like killing two birds with one stone in that sense. Plus, I'm kind of used to the I-80 trek to Omaha (I went to school there and have made the trip more times than I care to count), so it won't be that bad.

I actually work in a lab in Ogden (Cornerstone) and commute from Midvale. It takes me an hour there and an hour back if I drive, but I try to ride the frontrunner as much as possible, especially if I need to study. The job really isn't amazing, but I work really independently developing methods and such, so it's enjoyable for me, and if I use the commute time effectively it's a win-win. If for some reason I don't get in this year, I'm finally going to get my EMT training done so I can start doing actual medically related work again.

This just makes me want to get a ii even more! I think out of all the other DO schools, I have read the most amazing reviews on this school . Now only if they would show me some love, already.🙂

Accepted! just got the email.. interviewed 9/14. First medical school acceptance!!!!!!!
 
Was about to send a post-interview update letter on my activities when I check my inbox and find a DMU acceptance email.

I interviewed 9/13. Complete 7/12. Submitted 7/6.

c3.6/s3.5/29 and OOS.

Feels good to get the first acceptance of the season! Good luck to everyone!

That's awesome! I was already impressed with them before I even went on my interview, and they really blew me away. How'd your interview go?

I think it was really good. It lasted more than an HOUR! It was just a really good conversation, so we lost track of time. It's only one piece of the puzzle though, so I'll have to wait and see. Just wanted to let you know about the distinct possibility we could be classmates.

Dang, i interviewed 9/14 and nothing. Probably got rejected.....

Don't go thinking that! The day I got my acceptance, someone posted first thing in the morning that they got a waitlist email, and I didn't get my acceptance until later that afternoon. Hang in there!

Sweet! That would be awesome! I almost don't want to go to my LECOM interview on Friday... I'm pretty sure I know where I'll be come next fall!

Wait. If I recall at the interview the lady was pretty emphatic about not enjoying receiving our phone calls unless you hadn't heard within three weeks. Plus if you get in it makes the wait all that more sweet!
 
Will they notify through email regardless? Or do they send rejections through snail mail like some schools? I could have swore that I read they do that somewhere in this thread.

They send out WL/Rejections through email, but don't put yourself out man! First emails went out less than an hour ago, and they are sending to about 40 people! :xf:

This is true, and with my email I also got the enrollment agreement email that was personalized with my name, so it might be alphabetical, I don't know.

Meh. My name is pretty much dead last in the alphabet so we will see. If they dont take me I sure hope one of my other schools will. These guys were top choice though.

I think they are going in alphabetical order as well. My last name is towards the beginning of the alphabet, so don't lose hope yet!
