DREXEL DPMS 2021-2022

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Since submitting mine, it just says "Thank you for your application. Your file is currently complete and under review. A decision has not yet been made on your application to Drexel University. If additional materials are required before an admission decision can be rendered, we will contact you."

Is that what yours said before?
Hey! Yes that is what it said before!!

Hey Everyone! I just got rejected via the portal. I want to take a moment to thank all of you for the support and help! This program is truly meant to help disadvantaged individuals and I'm thrilled to see them give many of you an opportunity to overcome economic and social disparities. We have all been through our fair share of obstacles to reach our goal of becoming physicians. I strongly believe that as long as we don't give up on our aspirations, we will succeed. I hope to work with some of you in the future, and I wish you all the very best!!! One day, we will all do our part to make the world a better place!!!!

Hi all! I just just my status update this morning and I did not get an interview! I wanted to get advice though from you all: like should I reapply?
you mean, should you reapply to medical school? or to this specific program?

I'm so sorry to hear, but thank you for these kind and motivating words. You're going to get your opportunity, I know it! Good luck with your applications going forward!!

Hey everyone! Hope all is well! Thought I'd try to help ease tensions (maybe? lol)

So I was actually one of the students on the Student Panel Q & A this year during the interviews and for what it's worth, we had these student panels scheduled till May 20 (this is the last date). So I'm assuming no interviews after May 20? Not in admissions so don't take my word for it.

Also I seen someone say we had acceptances by this time last year. That isn't true at least from what I remember lol. First wave of acceptances was end of May (like May 28 ish or so). Second wave of acceptances was like early to mid June (I was in the second wave and I wanna say I got mine June 8 ish?)

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the clarity! Very helpful

This specific program
If you have the means, I would apply regular cycle next month. Even if you were to reapply to this program, you’d have to wait another year anyway, so might as well double your chances by applying for the regular programs! That’s what I’m going to personally do anyway 🙂

To clarify - you don’t think there will be any interviews after May 20th or interview invites? If no interviews, then that means they’re probably done sending invites right 🙁 it’s so late already

thats my thinking 🙁 unless theyre sending invites today as well since they have already started sending rejections

Hii! Thank you so much for adding to our convo. That's really helpful in order to gauge how the process will move along. Also, I was the one that mentioned that acceptances were out by this time, but I just realized that was for the year before lol! (I know someone who interviewed 5/6/19 and had an acceptance on 5/16/19), and ofc things change from year to year. So I apologize for not clarifying, thank you for pointing that out though!

It makes more sense that decisions will be around the timeline you mentioned since they did mention that there would be two rounds.

Do we know for sure that the program will be in person?

The summer component will be virtual, starting on June 28th, which goes for 6 weeks. They're expecting us to be in Philly for the Fall semester.

Let me preface this by restating I have no link to admissions whatsoever as did other past DPMSers that helped on sdn forums in previous years - but if I had to guess I feel interview invites are still being handed out probably till a couple days before the final interview day of May 20 so maybe like till May 17/18 ish? Not sure just a guess!

They could very well add more dates too, that's also a possibility. So don't rule yourself out yet if you haven't gotten an interview invite - neither you nor I knows exactly what agenda admissions is on this cycle with COVID affecting a lot (for instance interview invites were sent out 2 weeks later this year than in my year). Don't lose hope!

Hello everyone!
I have a quick question, for those that have/had been invited to an interview, what did your portal change to before you actually had the interview?

I’m sure this was mentioned before but the thread is lengthy 😅😂.

Thanks to all!

My status remained “under review. No decision made...” until after i selected a date for my interview and it was confirmed. Even when i got the II the status was the same. At least for me.

Same! No change on my portal until I picked a date. Then it was just an additional message confirming the day of my interview and who to contact if I had to reschedule.

How long did it take Mr. Kareem to get back to you about the date that you chose for interview?

II 2 hours ago! The latest date I was offered was 05/24. Not sure if I had a status change on the portal because I’ve been disconnecting/working on not obsessing for my mental health. Complete 4/30.
Ayeeee congratulations!!!

Congratulations! Do you mind sharing your stats?

Hey everyone. Since the start of applications last year I have been extremely close to a member on here. This morning I learned from her mom that she was taken to the hospital last night for an attempted suicide. From our conversations I believe it was due to how mentally exhausting and draining this application process is. Did you know about 1 in 3 medical students attempts to take their life during their medical education? I want to reach a hand out to anyone that needs help or just wants to talk about struggles they are going through.

This brings up another post that was made about a week ago. I know a handful of individuals who have amazing stats yet still apply to this program. This is a disadvantaged program for individuals who have a significantly less chances of getting into medical school due to their stats. Just remember that because you might be taking a spot from someone who has not the best stats due to their life circumstances such as being homeless or living in an abusive home.

I'm so sorry to hear. I hope she's doing okay and gets the help she needs. And I hope everyone here also takes some time for themselves to recharge mentally and physically. This is definitely a brutal process, and I'm wishing the best for everyone.

thank you for sharing this with us, we can come together in prayer, beliefs, vibes, anything and wish her well and a peaceful recovery. this highlights what comes with the pressure and competitive nature of this career. it’s truly saddening that it’s not talked about more often. we need to do more for our pre meds, applicants, med students, residents and physicians.

I am so sorry to hear about that, I will be praying for her and for her family. I also will be praying for everyone on here, that our mental health is taken care. I hope that she gets that interview and acceptance, and as well to everyone on here who is waiting and is deserving of that seat.

Remember everyone that this too shall pass

I received an interview invite today and chose 5/24/2021. They had 05/17, 05/18, 05/19, 05/20 and 05/20. I am grateful I received an interview because I was worried I would not get one.
congrats!!! may i ask what your stats are and when you were completed?
