DREXEL DPMS 2021-2022

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
To add to this thread, I have a friend who received an interview invite for the Drexel MD program last week and his interview was yesterday, so the med school committee is still conducting interviews for their MD class. My friend told me the only dates available for his interview was for this week so hopefully, they're wrapping up their MD interview cycle soon and will be sending out our invites next!
That could explain why they have not reached out yet, since they are still filling seats for their MD program.

For people receiving interview invites for other programs at Drexel's Graduate School of Biomedical sciences, I've heard from people in my year that they received an invite to join other programs that they didn't even apply for, or that they were accepted into DPMS after being accepted into IMS or IHS, or that they didn't apply for IMS or IHS but got accepted into DPMS. Try not to take an acceptance or non-acceptance (?) to another program as a declined DPMS application 🙂

hey! was the current cohort still given the option of living in the grad dorms over the summer even though i assume many did choose to work remotely from their home town because of covid? also, is the grad dorming an option that you can pursue past the summer period? thanks!!
Unfortunately no since it wasn’t required for us to move. However for those who wanted to move, the TAs gave them suggestions on good apartment complexes to consider and everyone was able to find their accommodations before fall started 🙂

In an information session they had mentioned that the summer may be online but they are aiming to be in person after the summer

I think they're in person? I got into one of the other programs and got an email saying return to campus this fall

With all this extra time left to stress out, I'm worried that I didn't properly send my MCAT scores lol. How were we required to send those in, if anyone remembers? We definitely self-reported, but what about official scores? I emailed the contact points at DPMS, but to no avail. In my portal, it says it's been received, so is that all?

If it has that check mark and it says received, I think you’re good to go. If you’re worried, I’m sure contacting them again wouldn’t hurt.

It went really well! A lot of adjustments had to be made and adapting to attending school in the middle of a pandemic was really something else but overall I am really content with the program. You'll hear this time and time again once you're in the program that it is extremely challenging and will push your limits as a student but it is 100% doable. The summer classes are all P/F for the most part but the best thing you can do to set yourself up for success is to take it very seriously. hone in on your study skills, figure out your weaknesses, learn how to plan ahead for a balanced schedule and I think you'll do just fine the rest of the year.

Hey everyone! I see that everyone is getting anxious and worked up regarding interview invites and the status of their applications. I just want to say that I completely understand your frustrations and they are all completely justifiable but at the end of the day, all you can do is wait for their decisions on their timelines. We are in such uncertain times at the moment and everyone is just doing their best. Everything about the last minute acceptances and the deposits to other programs and moving last minute are all crappy and frustrating but it is all worth it when you do get into the program because it means you've taken that one huge step towards accomplishing your goal of becoming a physician. And from what I have gleaned the summer portion of DPMS will be remote and so even if they accept you a week before the program starts, you will have time to figure out living situations for the remainder of the school year. And you will be provided with a multitude of resources to help you do that. Every person working the program is pushing for your success so at the end of the day, you have to trust that things will work out just fine.

I am currently trying to get some information about when invites will be extended and possible alterations to the timeline but I have hope that they will start to reach out shortly.

Ah so glad to see you on this thread. I’ve read through previous threads and you seem super resourceful!

Hello everyone!

I have gotten in contact with a couple of people and have been told that interview invites will start this week! The delay, as some of you have guessed, has been due to the admissions committee still being busy with MD applicants. Just remember that everyone has until this Friday to submit their application still. The majority of interviews will occur in May and decisions will be given in June. I am not sure if it has already been mentioned but the number of students they plan on enrolling into the program this year has increased from 50 to 55. I was also told that the summer will in fact be remote with on-campus learning resuming the first week of August.

Please continue to ask questions and vent your frustrations and I will do my best to provide answers and address your concerns. Most importantly, just remember to try to be as patient as possible, have faith and breathe.

You are amazing

Do any of you know if will we see a change in status in our portal if we get invited for an interview?

Just got my MCAT scores back so I sent in my scores today and I was told that they would receive them by the next business day! Hopefully They will be able to review my application in time so I could possibly make the early May interview group😭
I sent my scores in yesterday and hoping they receive them today as well 😅

Theyre making me nervous now because I sent them an email telling them I sent them and they responded with this "We do receive them the next day but it might take graduate admissions a week to get everything in the applications" Even though after I took the MCAT back in March, they said my scores would be in my application by the next day.... So I emailed again I'll let you know what they say!

Yes please let me know, I appreciate it! I am also nervous, & hoping for the best and hoping the best for you as well! Wishing you the best for this application cycle!😊

Now that we have the update that invites will start going out this week, I’m checking my email even more compulsively, if possible!

*ding* “Drexel?!?!???!?!” Credit Karma, your score has gone up 🙃

Does anyone know if in the past years how they send out these interview invites? Is it all in one day, or like they take a week to send it out to everyone?
