This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also for those who repsonded about the location for the interview thank you so much James just confirmed you guys were correct!!!! ps, why EMDO2018 posting on here if he hates this school so much, I agree it is asinine!

Hey everyone. So I submitted my secondary and two LORs, but am waiting on my DO LOR to get to interfolio so I can submit it. Did any of you get interview offers before all of your LORs were submitted, or did they hold until you had everything in.

I have been trying as politely as possible to encourage my letter writer, but as these things go sometimes, I know he is very busy. Anyway...hoping I get an interview here!

I would think you could submit your app before having the LOR... I would call them to verify they are awesome with answering those questions!

They will still grant you an interview. I have an interview next Monday and my DO letter (or physician letter in general) has not been sent out yet. I will hopefully have it in by the end of this week. Best of luck to you!

EMDO2018 I wish you the very best on your endeavors, as much as anyone on here but, I believe that these boards are designed to help each other out and to communicate with future classmates and people interviewing. I hope you will remember to use professionalism and courtesy as I personally love this school and the environment and would like this to remain a pleasant experience. Personal negative comments towards others is not good practice and should not be tolerated nor should you want to display these traits in your future as a healthcare provider. Again, best wishes on your future and I hope to see all others excited about Liberty University in the future.

Well said Edward Norton

Awesome! Thanks for the answer. I turned in my secondary on Thursday, and sent the two faculty letters that same day. Hopefully something will shake out this week...

Hey everybody,I just got back from my interview with LUCOM, and all I can say is wow! This school has really got it's stuff together, anyone worried that it won't thrive really has to do some research on it. From the start they make you feel like home and everybody is so warm and welcoming. I can't really go into details about the interview, but as for the questions that have been asked.-You don't have to be christian to attend, it's a given that there will be non christians attending. But you have to be okay with the type of lifestyle and characteristics that you have to uphold. Realistically speaking, you're going to need these characteristics from any medical school-- so it shouldn't be bothersome.-The anatomy for two years thing is not THAT big of a deal, in fact it's helpful. LUCOM slowly brings in anatomy throughout the two years, they do this to help you with the boards. Rather than just having 6 months of anatomy and then forgetting it by the time you get to the boards, you are always fresh on anatomy because you're slowly going into it. It's not a big deal. This place is hiring some of the best medical doctors to teach and with one of the most high-tech buildings to this day, they have their vision on the right path and I honestly feel like attending here will help you prepare accordingly.

Hi all, I know I am being really anxious, but I turned in my secondary with all of my LOR (7 all together) including a DO. I haven't heard a peep. Should I be worried? How long does it normally take? Thanks for responding.

" I got a 23 and have been admitted to multiple schools"

this scares me, just shows there are way too may DO schools popping up and even very slow stat applicants can get in

"I bet I will run laps around you on COMLEX/USMLE"

I highly, highly, doubt it. If you don't have enough disciple to study and do well on the MCAT, you probably don't have enough discipline to study and do well on the comlex/usmle.

Was anyone able to save their progress and return to their secondary at a later date? For some reason the data I enter is not saved after I exit out.

I'm guessing you were rejected, huh?

Hmm... Depends on how long it's been.
I submitted my secondary a week and a half after I received it. Called Mr. Ousley the day after, because I wasn't sure if it had gone through (they don't send complete emails). Received an II the day after. I think for others, it's taken longer, though.
If it's been more than a week, you might just want to call Mr. Ousley (he's really helpful and nice) and be like, "Heeeeyyyy, is my application complete? I'm getting kinda worried!"

Good luck 🙂

Just received itinerary for the 25th. Who else will be there with me?

Hey guys! I am catholic and Albanian and learned all of my prayers in Albanian. In the itinerary it says that they do prayers. Can someone PLEASE post the prayers said during the interview so I can learn them in English!! Thanks!

They will pray after the introduction remarks from the Dean, but it isn't a memorized prayer. They begin in God's name and end in Jesus's name, everything else in between is 'made up' on the spot.

You don't have to say anything. The only prayer said was by the dean before we ate lunch if I remember correctly. Everyone just bowed their head as he spoke.

I wonder if this school will have problems enrolling 150 students. Most new schools start off with very high bench marks then relax their standards as the interview season goes on and the deposits are not coming in. Plus Virginia already has a DO school and lots of MD schools. There have been 5 DO schools in the last 5 years wcu, acom, marian, campbell, lucom all in the same region, what does that mean? Because of so much competition, a lot of these schools will have trouble filling their slots or they will take applicants with 2o-23 MCAT scores. And honestly, I think people with 20-23 MCAT scores should not be admitted to med school. They will probably not do that well on the boards and new school will have a 65- 70% pass rate. Not to mention, the school has to figure everything out so the first few classes will suffer accordingly. Rotations will also probably be weak leading to weak residency applicants. I respect ACOM for having strong rotations already in place. But I would think twice before attending lucom, their extremist views don't help either. In my opinion it should have never been opened.

I know people who people who had 20-23 Mcat the first time and scored significantly better the second time . Myself being one of the those people , glad all the MD and DO programs who have interviewed me do not share your view . Same person , 2 different tests ! A test does not determine if you going to be a good physician - that's on the person .

Was anyone allowed to save progress on their secondary and return to it at a later time? Is there no "save" option? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone been wait-listed and know how that process is gonna work moving forward?

From my interview Mr. Cook told that they review people on hold on a monthly basis. That would mean - if you were wait-listed after an interview and perhaps prior - your file will be reviewed again in the beginning of December, then January, February, and so on until they offer a seat or say "thanks, but no thanks".

From what I can remember from writing my secondaries responses, you cannot save. It's 'do or die' so to speak. If you want to save your progress, just copy the prompt and your response on a word file, work at it until you are ready, then copy and paste onto the webpage once you are ready.

Is anyone else having a problem with the confirmation deposit form not recognizing their name? It only lets me continue on the form if I take the hyphen out of my first name...but then when I submit it, I get an error because I didn't include the hyphen...

So just wait it out then or would calling them each month to get updated on the status be advisable?

Good question. I spoke with Mr. Cook during my interview and he told me it's appropriate to call and ask about your status. Personally I wouldn't do it every month to not sound desperate, but calling once or twice probably wouldn't hurt.

Hey Thanks for the advise, I called Mr. Ousley yesterday as you said. Got an II today for January 6th. Would love to do it earlier, but oh well. Blessed and excited.

Congrats! When were you complete?

I checked, don't see an email for completion. But I sent my secondary and the fees on 11/11/13. That's fast. Anyhow I am thrilled. When is your interview?

I am getting an error when I try to pay the first deposit as well and my name is quite basic so I am guessing it is on their end. I will call tomorrow and see if I should pay over the phone or they can fix the situation.

Hey here is a question for all of you who have been accepted. Have you found anything about the cost per year? How is financial aid going to help? They have given me a number of financial aid for SOM but no one picks up there.

Got an II today.

AACOMAS released 11/14/2013
Secondary complete: 11/16/2013
GPA: 3.21
sGPA: 3.26

Had a semester with 15 hours of F's about 6 years ago because I was young and dumb, stopped going to class and didn't drop my courses. Strong upward trend upon my return to school.

MCAT: 26

ECs: Paramedic for 10 years, including flight experience, faculty for American Heart Association, member of American Red Cross Supervisory Committee for North Texas.

I haven't called to confirm my date yet, but it will be in early to mid January. Best of luck to everyone.

Keeping my fingers crossed man. Any hints about the interview? Whats the environment like? What kind of questions? Anything would help and be appreciated.
It is a one-on-one interview. They are extremely nice and just be yourself. They want to get to know you and if you would be the right fit. The questions asked were very standard interview questions and there were no tricky questions. Relax and you'll do fine! 🙂

Thanks man. That helps a lot. Hopefully, we will be in the same class.

Just got an interview invitation from this school today! Very excited but if I am accepted I will most likely have to give it up because I can't seem to find a DO to shadow. Ughh 🙁

they'll probably take you without the letter

Um not necessarily. You'll be able to interview but they won't make a decision on your file until you submit a D.O. letter. If it's really a problem you will have to petition the Dean for an exception for cause I think.

If you contact your state osteopathic organization they can send you a list of DOs in your area who you can shadow 🙂

Thank you guys for your input. And I have pretty much called/emailed almost every single DO within 30 miles of where I live. But I guess I just gotta keep trying.

Don't give up. Go to the interview and give it your best. You received an interview invite, so that means the school wants to know more about you 🙂.
Are all the DO's in your area unwilling to let you shadow them and get to know them?
I really wish you the best.

Why cant you find a DO? go on the American Association of Osteopathic medicine website and you can locate one in your area. Where are you from? Let me help you to find one. I would hate you to not get in just because you can't find a DO in your area. Let me know.
