see http://www.liberty.edu/lucom/index.cfm?PID=27164. I think it is about 45k/year when you factor in cost of living. Is the tuition 45k/year here?

Don't give up. Go to the interview and give it your best. You received an interview invite, so that means the school wants to know more about you 🙂.
Are all the DO's in your area unwilling to let you shadow them and get to know them?
I really wish you the best.
Why cant you find a DO? go on the American Association of Osteopathic medicine website and you can locate one in your area. Where are you from? Let me help you to find one. I would hate you to not get in just because you can't find a DO in your area. Let me know.
Me too! I'm so excited and grateful right now. I'm also going for early January 🙂 Anyone know how much it costs to get to campus from the airport by service cars? I live in NYC and I don't drive, ahhhhh ... I can't wait to visit LUCOM! Also, thank you so much everyone for your input to this tread. It's really helpful. Did you guys get itinerary right after the confirmation email for an interview? He said he would send me one, but I haven't got it yet. Or you had to wait a few days and they will send you another email? Hope we all can be classmates &/or future caring physicians! 🙂
Hello! I interviewed there earlier this month. I got my itinerary the week of the interview, so I assume yours will be the same. I stayed at the Hilton Gardens hotel. They have a free shuttle service that can take you to and fro, including restaurants around the area. If you are purchasing a plane ticket to LYH the hotel, campus, and interview location are less than 5 minutes away. Thanks! You too! Mine is January 7th. We can still see each other during orientation 😉

Wow, for a private DO school, thats a pretty nice rate.
Tuition is about $15k a semester, so with 3 semesters it comes to about $45k.How does a trimester work? So the yearly tuition would be 30k/year? A little confused .
Yea, that's what I thought initially. So it's about the same price as most DO schools.Tuition is about $15k a semester, so with 3 semesters it comes to about $45k.
good luckThank you guys for your input. And I have pretty much called/emailed almost every single DO within 30 miles of where I live. But I guess I just gotta keep trying.
Hey, I just looked up the AOA website. There are 8 DO with in 25 miles of Alexandria region. Call them, hopefully one will say yes. Even if you can't arrange one now, you will be accepted. Because you needed one to get an II, and you already have one. Call them and keep a log of your conversation, so when you interview you can say I have shadowed some MD's and have called so and so DO and I am planning to shadow a DO as soon as my arrangements are made. I really believe all the schools want to see is that you have tried. Good luck, hopefully we will be in the same class.Thank you. I am actually in the Alexandria/Northern Virginia area. Yeah, I have looked through the AOA website around my area but I guess I just gotta keep trying.

When I interviewed, they definitely said that tuition was $40k. The website also used to say $40k. I don't understand how they can just change it like that? Did anyone else notice this change?
I thought I remember reading 40k as well and now it's 45k. Anyone know the class size?
First DO II today!
Hello all. I'm just wondering, how many people here have been accepted? rejected? I'm just worried about being rejected 🙁 . I'll be interviewing in a few weeks.
Happy for you man, when is the interview? Mine is on January 6th.
Interviewing tomorrow! Just got to Lynchburg and I am wondering if anyone else on here is interviewing tomorrow?
When I interviewed nov 11 Mr. Cook said they had accepted 47. They surely have accepted more since then, but the class size will be 150, so probably plenty of openings left still. Just be positive, like someone said before. They will interview 500 to accept 150, so you have good chances of being accepted.Hello all. hey you guys, my primary app was released on last Tuesday, how long did it take to get a secondary? MCAT of 22 here,, chances looking for LUCOM?
Thanks for calling. I wonder why they decided to suddenly increase it by 5k.I actually called and confirmed it. Its 14,500 per trimester and there are 3 in a year. So it would be about 45k + cost of living.

Any interviews yet?
nope they didn't.Did they say why they suddenly changed the cost of tuition?
Thanks for calling. I wonder why they decided to suddenly increase it by 5k.
Thanks for the info! They didn't say if they suddenly changed it. But they did say that the cost is not set in stone yet. They are still trying to figure the final cost and that it will be around the same as it says in the website.
Hey, don't worry too much. It's a long process and I hope you keep positive.
- Mine was verified around mid October
- LUCOM received my verified primary last week of October
- Secondary invite on Nov 1st
- Submitted secondary on Nov 4th, since I didn't see the email till then. Make sure to check "promotional" or "all mail" in your gmail account, because the secondary invite email was not in my inbox.
- My LORs & DO arrived LUCOM on Nov 6
- Interview Invite on Nov 21
- Interview scheduled on Jan 7
My ii was 2 weeks after everything was completed, so I think you should receive ii in the next 2-4 weeks. From SDN, I think LUCOM processed application pretty fast. Good luck! 🙂

Uh man sounds like I'm screwed. Can you elaborate?Extremely religious. I felt like the interviewers were prying when it came to my religion or lack there of...
Thanks. I hope I get the people you interviewed with and really hope I don't get asked about religion. When I interviewed I was never asked or even steered in the direction of religion. One station was scenario based and one station was open file and get to know you. It was the most relaxed of the interviews I have gone on thus far and was really an enjoyable and welcoming experience. To be honest Liberty was my first interview and I was unsure what to expect...... little did I know this would still be my favorite school thus far and I put down my first deposit. If you have a chance to sit with Dr. Dormer during lunch ask him as many questions as possible, this man alone made me want to attend this school (ask him about his dolphin research =)). You will be quite amazed with the faculty and their backgrounds their isn't one Dr. I met that wasn't extremely skilled in education and have spent many, many years teaching at other DO and MD programs.
Well, they are a religious institution (like BYU, Duke, University of Portland, etc). But I never felt pressured or pried about my own religious beliefs. Like it was mentioned previously, it was a very relax interview experience.Extremely religious. I felt like the interviewers were prying when it came to my religion or lack there of...
I agree, they asked me that also, but it's a fair question considering it's part of their mission. They are trying to see how well you will fit into the school, that's all.I really liked the school. I don't mean to sound negative and yes the interview is very easy and relaxed. It must have been who I interviewed with. I was directly asked how spirituality would has and will influence me in my medical practice... Which is really just a way of asking about religion.

I agree with Donkk. Dr. Dormer and his research was really impressive and are big game changers in medicine. He also has interesting stories about his life. Donkk... we must have interviewed at the same time and sat at the same table.
I have to say, I was intimidated for my interview. Don't be. Everyone is very nice and approachable. If you look up the profiles on these guys, they are very well accomplished and have been in the field for a long time, teaching, practicing, and researching. This school will have a lot to offer to it's future students. Keep in mind, these guys are pretty sharp. There are no dummies there and if they didn't want you to interview they wouldn't have invited you. They want that first class to be extremely successful so that they can continue to operate the med school. I plan on submitting my deposit very soon.
Don't listen to what the naysayers are saying. They obviously haven't done any research into the school or its staff and are judging it with blinders. They only downside to the school is that it is a new school, which means it hasn't proven itself yet. I am excited to be apart of the first class and prove that it will be a lasting med school.
