Canadian here. Interviewed 10/18 and still waiting for a response (going on 4 weeks so not looking great :/).

Stats: 3.54/3.55 with a 509 MCAT .
Did you wait a long time between your secondary app and being offered an interview?

OOS here, I remember them saying that it didn't mean anything if someone from our interview group got called the day after the interview or the very last day on the 18th. But yea, my stomach is in knots waiting to hear. I really love this school, especially after meeting everyone and doing the interview. The campus and East Lansing is also beautiful in the fall.

Anyone know how many OOS applicants they interview and whether or not those who are interviewed OOS have a higher chance of acceptance?

Is there some type of fb group for accepted students? Send me the link. So pumped.

Do I stand a chance here? I'm about to apply.
3.4-3.6 gpa with 518-522 MCAT, OOS ORM
Your stats are great so I would say apply if you have the $100 to spend, but keep in mind they are 90% IS and suggest the "most serious students" apply by Sept 1.

Is east Lansing a nice area to live in? Is the school nice?

Is having an interview on December 2nd going to lessen my chances of acceptance. People started getting accepted here in the beginning of September.

Well what is your other option lol? You have to interview to get accepted and the sooner you interview the better chances you give yourself.

I interviewed on Nov. 9, is it possible to hear anything within this week? Or is that too early?

No because I will have to kill you for hearing back that soon when I interviewed on October 21:blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::laugh:

From what I understood from what they told us, possible, yes. Probable, not really. Probably can't reasonably expect anything until maybe next week, but that's just my guess.

Anyone know if the DMC is filled or close to being filled? I don't have an II yet or anything but the DMC is like 20 minutes from my house and I have children so I can't really move my whole family ( well I could but it would really suck). Therefore if the DMC is filled I probably won't be going here, and I only applied here and wayne state.

I contacted Anne Snyder about this ten days ago and she said all three sites were still open.

They also are able to work with you to make room for certain circumstances. Once you get in you can deal with that before making any final decisions.

Looking for brutal honesty here - am I a chump for attending MSUCOM as an OOS student if I don't undertake the DO-PhD program? I'm lucky in that I attended a state school and have no debt whatsoever. I know almni from MSU and feel that it is in a league of its own with regards to DO programs. I liked the school when I visited and am excited about clerkship options and the state hospital system.

somewhat unrelated question - is MSUCOM pass/fail?

Yeah I kinda want to know too

For males interviewing: I wore a green/blue/white striped necktie and received 2 compliments from an admissions staff member and MMI interviewer. Socks, pocket square can also show some school spirit.

yes, it is pass/fail, but grades matter cause your percentile shows on your transcripts. I asked about this on the interview day.

The same person complimented you twice?

I wore a blue suit, white shirt, red necktie with a full Windsor, lighter brown shoes and belt, and black socks.

Result? No compliments and haven't heard anything in 20 days. Listen to @YayPudding 🙂😉

Dunno what you mean by chump. 4 years versus 7-8 @ 80,000?

I'm pretty sleep deprived today, my words bad making :smack:

Two separate compliments from two folks

All they will show is percentiles 1-5. In reality , they don't mean much. It all comes down to board scores . I have several friends in the 1st percentile and I'm in the second. They have great cramming abilities but don't retain jack. Remember it's a marathon not a sprint

Correct, paying that much for a medical degree when I have the options of other DO schools. I just think MSU can offer me more.

You have other DO options but choose to come to MSUCOM and pay OOS tuition? I would love to hear your reasoning for being 320K in debt after 4 years!

I have a friend that just got accepted to Burrell in NM, and their OOS tuition is around 40K a year for OOS students!

I am currently without debt but am interested in pursuing a school that would give me the best chance of going after whatever specialty I end up wanting. After interviewing at other programs, researching and knowing DOs, I felt that Michigan would give me the most opportunities.

If you feel that you have a MUCH better chance at matching to what you like, I'd say go for it! Michigan is a beautiful place... minus the 19th century roads.

For those who interviewed here, where does the interview take place exactly? I was looking at the map they provided and it looks confusing! They said " walk to East Fee Hall and check in" but not sure if this is for parking or the actual interview

Parking is in the Wharton Center ramp, which is probably a 5 to 10 minute walk from East Fee Hall. East Fee Hall is where the interview is. They will have a check in table right b the door.

Good luck!

Sparty on future classmates😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Got the call while at the dentist and had to wait 2 hrs before they returned my return phone call from their original voicemail. Pretty classy for them to give ya a call and actually speak to you before they deliver the news.
