Hey OOSers! I just declined my spot at msu! Good luck to those on the wait list!!!!
Do you know if he said that 13/33 is typical for the amount of people committed or if its normally higher or lower? Thanks! This week has me so nervous as april 15th is approachingSo I had a meeting with Dr. Meiring today and he told me he just found out that all the SC contract spots have been committed to. He said 13 out of 33 OOS have committed and that half of the alternates have contacted them declining. He also said it could take up until mid-May to find out about an OOS spot
He said he'll know more next week about the OOS list.
He didn't say whether it was typical or not so I'm not sure. I'm nervous too! I'll probably call at the end of the week and see if there has been any progress but he said one alternate was notified that he got a spot the week before classes started so don't lose hope if you don't hear around April 15th!Do you know if he said that 13/33 is typical for the amount of people committed or if its normally higher or lower? Hey, curious undergrad here looking to apply in a couple of years. For those who were accepted, what is your deadline to commit? I need to make sure I have time to establish residency before I the deadline!
Become a resident of Mississippi before VMCAS application cycle for the class you are applying to. Certain states require you to be resident for at least a year, plus register to vote, etc.
I'm working on it so far as proof of residency and changing my driver's license, but the issue is mainly with my age. They don't consider you to be an adult until 21, and you must have resided 12 months in the state after your 21st birthday. What I'm trying to do is make sure that the deadline to commit is after my 22nd birthday.
While I'm working on becoming a resident right now, before the VMCAS app, I think I have a good chance of getting in if I apply either as IS or OOS because of how my academics and experience are going so far -- and I don't mean to sound smug or anything! I just want to say that that's less of a concern than making sure I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for OOS tuition.
Also for reference, IHL/MSU's "residency" definitions are here starting on page 99:

You have to be a resident before submitting your VMCAS on September 15th (new deadline). Otherwise, you are considered an OOS.
No. When you sign the contract as an OOS, you agree to be OOS for 4 years. This is a far shot to ask in this thread I guess, but do you know if it's possible to petition to pay in-state tuition even if I applied as an OOS student?

When she says the wait list has not moved does she mean that no one has been called off? Sunkistkitty was told my Dr. Meiring that over half the people have taken themselves off the waitlist. Do you think the number she gave you was updated from that?
I just called and spoke with Hailey. She said she couldn't give me my number yet. But left my name and number if any updates happen.
Yeah Dr. Meiring said that half of the alternates had declined an alternate spot and 13/33 of the offered spots have been committed to.When she says the wait list has not moved does she mean that no one has been called off? 1000? 2000? who knows! I literally have no idea how many people they put on the list. I know they have only 8 alternates for the SC list.It makes me wonder how many are on the alternate list then. 100? 200? If half have already declined their spot then it seems very likely for a lot of people to be called off the list.
I hope so! I'm tired of waiting!haha you're scaring me with those numbers! Maybe we will all hear from Missy tomorrow though!
So I just found out that I've moved up 9 spots in the alternate list as of yesterday. The list is moving super fast.
I got called also and have moved up 9 spots as well! I also finally got my number #48 not sure how many they go through on the waitlist typically though.
I called her and she left me a voicemail and I'm going to call her back soon and try to get my exact spot. But I think she only calls people if they're offered a spot.Is she calling people to let them know their spot?
Is she calling people to let them know their spot?
So I just talked to Missy. She told me I'm #43 and that oftentimes they go past 43 but they may not know until even June.
Yeah definitely, I think we both have a decent chance!! The waiting is pretty much unending.Thats awesome! Hopefully we will both be called off but waiting till June sounds awful especially since classes start in late June! I plan on calling her weekly to see how much I have moved.
Anyone been admitted off the list? I'm in the top 20 and haven't heard.
they have been swamped with graduation stuff such as preparations and paperwork. I'm in, but still waiting on enrollment package. Just believe and live MSU-CVM in your mind every day, until you get the call. It will happen if you believe in it hard enough. Eliminate doubt from your mindset
I really would just like to know if they have called anyone off the list and if not, when he expects they might start.Dr. Meiring has decided to visit to my college and I have a meeting with him tomorrow. If anyone has any questions you would like me to ask please let me know! Also has anyone heard/called in today to check on the wait list movement?
Just kidding! I just got the call OOS!!!!
How do you know that 86 people are classed up? Thought they would at least go through a few weeks of calling alternates. Just curious!86 classed up as of today. I think this is it. Join our Facebook page conwayKitty13
If I were to guess I would think some of those people are upperclassman .....How do you know that 86 people are classed up? Thought they would at least go through a few weeks of calling alternates. Just curious!
Sorry, I'm confused. All the spots have been taken technically?Talked to Dr. Meiring and he said the class is already full. This doesn't mean people still won't be called off though. Sometimes people decided to decline after being accepted because of costs associated with OOS school or personal reasons.
