hoping today is the day the mailman pulls through for me...
You and me both! This process got me antagonizing the mailman lolhoping today is the day the mailman pulls through for me...
Call them. I had interview 9/29 and they said to expect reply after Thanksgiving only.are we 100% positive that all September decisions have been mailed...really resisting the urge to call right now, the mailman is evil
I interviewed 9/15 they told me end of this week or it might go into december. Honestly I don't think the admissions office even knows properly when it's gonna go through. They don't really have solid communications with the admission committee.are we 100% positive that all September decisions have been mailed...really resisting the urge to call right now, the mailman is evil
I called, they said the September letters are sent out by now and should arrive next week.

After interview?Rejected once more... sigh
After interview?
Nope, did anyone else's mailman interview them? I did even know that had to happen.
Yeah that's the frustrating part, they're saying different things. I called on last Friday. She said it could be this week, could be longer cause she has no idea what the admission committee is doing. When did you get told this information? Because it looks like you were told different things.. lol
Nothing in the mail today too.. Instate (live 20 minutes from the school), Interviewed 9/24, im not even going here but i just want to know my decision lol
Did you get a rejection letter is what I mean..?
28, 3.7c/3.56s
Lots of community service, 3-4 leadership positions through Greek life, study abroad, hospital volunteering, sports team etc
They're still sending out letters and reviewing them, I wouldn't count you self out just yet. Keep your head up.No the mailman just didn't bring me the mail, no letter or notification of any kind.
Jk, I know what you meant. I interviewed 9/15 and haven't received anything so I am trolling as a means to cope with my inevitable rejection.
Spoke to admissions today, they aren't doing rolling acceptences. They have a whole pool of students and I have no idea how theyre choosing who to review first. But they said if we've been interviewed anytime between September and November to expect to hear back by the end of the year....so long wait guys, a damn long wait ahead of us.
I honestly called them at least once a week for the last 3 weeks if not more, everytime I ask the time frame of when we'll hear back increases. I don't think the admissions office knows even when they're gonna get done. So who knows maybe soon they'll even say wait till end of January to hear back. I wouldn't even be surprised at this point if that's how long it took. How exactly do you know they aren't trolling you? At first, it was like in a week or so, then it was in a few weeks, then it was after Thanksgiving, and now it's until the end of the year... I'm hoping that at least you're right though, and we're not waiting for a waitlist or rejection letter.

I asked about my specific file before they gave me an update about it the first time I called. Now they're saying the status of my file is confidential and they can't tell me anything at this time. I mentioned my interview date and they said all september to November interviews will hear back sometimes between now till end of the year. I know it's frustrating and it's not much to go on, but I hope it helps someone of you guys to know what to expect at least. FYI they also send rejection letters and wait list letters, so just getting a letter in the mail doesn't mean automatic acceptence anyways.Just curious- when you have called, do you give your name and they pull up your file OR have you been anonymous and just asking about general timeframes?
accepted!
Interviewed 9/15
Letter dated 11/17
Received 11/21
Live about 45 minutes away in the city
Hey, do you mind sharing your stats? Please don't do it if it makes you uncomfortable though 🙂II today. completed 11/20. Excited!
Congrats! I've been complete since 10/30 and I haven't gotten an II. Should I be worried?Hey, do you mind sharing your stats? Please don't do it if it makes you uncomfortable though 🙂
DO schools like to see DO LORs, I'm sure it would be a plus if it's from their own medical school.Does anyone know if/how much it helps your application to have a LOR from a NYCOM graduate?
Pretty sure most schools still are. You are slightly below their GPA and MCAT average, but you have a fair shot.Do we know if they're still sending out IIs? I was complete with their secondary Oct 29 (late, I know) and I literally live down the road. 3.45 GPA, 505 MCAT. Chances?

EDIT: My DO LOR graduated from NYIT-COM and I was accepted, but thats n=1
@notorious_cog @PugsAndHugs thanks guys!
Do you mind sharing your stats and experiences?
I interviewed mid-November and am waiting to hear back.
My sGPA is 3.96 and cGPA is 3.93 but slightly low MCAT...but LOR from NYCOM DO graduate and quite a bit of healthcare experience.
cGPA: 3.58
sGPA: 3.48
MPH GPA: 4.00
MCAT: 27
Experiences: research (resulting in publications, poster presentations, research society induction, etc.) and 3 season NCAA Div. III athlete for four years (captain of these teams during my junior and senior years)
3.8 cGPA 3.9 sGPA, 31 MCAT on 2nd attempt (low first attempt score). Average ECs with only 5 months of research.
Did everyone who was accepted have a letter of rec from a DO? I didn't think that was a big factor since they didn't require one and I had a fee MD letters of rec. I would assume it would be preferable, but didn't occur to me that it would make a huge difference. But it seems a lot of accepted people had one.
I did shadow a DO who was a graduate of nycom for a while but didn't get to spend enough time with him to get a letter of rec from him.
Thanks, I would hope so. It's been such a long wait I'm starting to give up hope. I had a very diverse background in Healthcare from doing public heath work to PT to scribing. Still trying to piece together what they could be looking for.It says on the NYCOM admissions page that a DO or MD letter is preferred but not required. But I know some other DO schools will only take DO letters and won't accept MD letters, which is why I got one from a DO..and I happen to have a close relationship with a DO graduate of NYCOM which is why I asked him.
But if you have several from MDs then that should be good.
Looks like people with research got their acceptances lol. I have zero research background, but a decent amount of clincal hours, and a MD, and DO letter. I have managed to get 5 acceptances this cycle, but still waiting on NYIT, even though I interviwed here first. maybe they prefer candidates with more research?
