Some of you might find this information useful. I interviewed here recently and they told us that everyone should expect to hear back before Christmas - that's their goal.

I was actually officially complete the same day I got the invite (11/30) which was really weird but it turns out it was a genuine invite because I called and was able to schedule my interview.

Stats: sGPA/cGPA = ~3.8/~3.8 , MCAT = 28

Try three months.. I was complete early September; still nothing.. Btw, did you actually get a complete email?? I didn't, but I was told they had everything when I called them.

I submitted in August and haven't had a peep; no complete e-mail, but I my online app says 'Complete'. I wish schools did formal rejections. The added effort doesn't seem prohibitive and it would really help applicants know where they are at...

Did they tell you guys why they're so behind in sending out decisions? It's very strange for a school to take nearly 4 months after interviews to send decisions out.

Yeah it's insane, which completely sucks since nyit is my first choice school. This was my first interview and I haven't heard anything, while getting accepted to a school I interviewed in November. It's really discouraging to not have some update at least on what's going on.

I just want closure from this school. Like its insane how its been almost 3 months post interview.. and i have heard nothing.. like what does that say about the school?

In the past they have started interviews in November and this is the first year they started in September but I guess their timeline for decisions didn't change. Still ridiculous and its sucks because this has been my only interview
 
Just got the acceptance letter! =D
It was postmarked Dec 1, 2015.

I'm just curious though, how to you guys plan on dealing with high cost of living and high rent? Especially those that are married?? I'm looking around at the rates, and it's like 2k per month on average... :*(

I like it a lot! I am in the DPC curriculum, which does make a difference. Full disclosure: I only had interest in problem-based learning curriculums when I was applying to schools. After college, I knew from the start that I would die of boredom in a lecture-based curriculum. Anyways, I say DPC makes a difference because although my year has almost 300 students in it, I am essentially in a class of 35. Most of our exams are separate from the lecture kids and we have two separate sets of class ranks. We also get a lot more faculty time and opportunities for things such as standardized patient interactions.

The reason you see 2k per month is because everything that costs less is taken. Come June/July when leases are up, you will see a lot more places get put on rental websites. Most of my friends pay about $1200/month. I got a place for 1400 and live <20 minutes from school. Costs a little more, but it was fully furnished and utilities included.

Yet you only have a midterm and a final to compress all that information. Anyway, I hear that in LDB if you fail a block, you have to repeat that block in the summer. If you fail two blocks, you have to repeat the entire class? The passing grade is ~70, right? Some first year also told me that about 30 students typically fail the first block in anatomy, is that true?

You're a bit off on the grading, there. I can't speak for lecture, but in DPC, we only get 2 grades for the entire YEAR: Biopsychosocial sciences and Clinical sciences, both of which are Pass/Fail/Honors. The biopsychosocial grade is comprised of DPC exams (55%) and anatomy exams (45%). There are 4 DPC term examinations per year, weighted equally. For anatomy, there are 2 written examinations and 3 lab practicals. All of this together adds up to a Pass, Fail or Honors in June. If you finish the fall semester and your combined DPC and anatomy average is <70%, you are in hot water, but you are allowed to continue. To pass for the year, you need to get >70% in biopsychosocial overall, and >65% on the average of the 4 DPC content exams.

The clinical science grade done in a similar way.

Thanks for the info. Is there a trend in COMLEX Step I scores for those in DPC and LDB?
 
So being paranoid and stressed about this school's decisions I spent my Sunday reading over the last two years threads hoping to see a pattern to ease my mind. From what I noticed it seems the first 3 months of interviews basically all got acceptences. I didn't see a single rejection listed, there might have been and not posted on the thread. In the next 3 months of interviews it was mostly all wait list except for a couple of acceptences and some movement off the wait list.

My best guess is that they interview for the class itself early on and have more or less of an idea if they'll accept you before you even sit down for an interview. Then they interview basically for the wait list the next couple of months with only a few acceptences and some movement off the wait list.

For those of you waiting since very early on in the interview cycle like me and those still waiting to hear about II hopefully this helps a bit on what might be going on.

yeah until I actually see people come on here and tell us that they've been wait listed I'm going to just relax and chill.

Im afraid of not hearing back by christmas. My guess is that all of the people who interviewed so far and are accepted will hear by Christmas, with waitlists and rejections being sent out after the holidays.

Is this how it's panned out in previous cycles? Doesn't bode well for September interviewees (myself included) who haven't heard back yet....

Im just guessing based on what they told us and what wednesday said. Also I know some other schools waited until after thanksgiving to send bad news. I dont think you are worse off than anyone else. I think somebody from september got accepted few days ago.
 
Just called admissions, for the 9/15 interview date they said that they are still running on delays with those applicants. He mentioned not hearing back by now is not a bad thing, and they don't know when the admissions committee is meeting next. For my file they did update that the admissions committee had it so hopefully they finally make a decision on it for me and whatever they decide at the next meting I'll hear about it soon. I also asked if they send updates on how many seats have been filled and how many deposits have been made and they don't disclose that information to the applicants either.....more of waiting in the dark...horrah. It's gonna be a great holiday season guys! :meh:

If anyone is concerned about their file status I highly recommend giving them a call, mails do get lost sometimes and they'll let you know if your letter was sent out.

Has there been any post-interview rejections yet?
 
Interviewed 12/1. They said it would take 4-6 weeks.
Just received my acceptance in the mail today, dated 12/3.

love how someone who interviewed on december 1st gets a decision, while i thought i was lucky to get an interview so early and am still waiting almost 3 months for a decision lmfao lol!

MCAT 32
Overall AACOMAS GPA is probably around 3.5, BCPM probably 3.4

Pretty much no medical related activities except sub 100 hospital volunteer hours, which are from high school. Otherwise, 300+ hours research, dance team, orientation leader, hall council e-board, a mentoring program and summer housing assistant.

Could you perhaps pm me the names of those places? I've been looking around but can't seem to find an area that cheap... =/
