*~*~* Official Class of 2023 Thread *~*~*

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I actually didn't even have them listed as future courses, just not sure how it would look to have one or two W's. Unfortunately I won't know where im going for sure until closer to april since im still waiting on quite a few decisions. I'll just play it safe. I guess I can always just audit the class if I want.

Good plan.

Any more good news from 2023 folks? It's been awfully quiet in here recently!

One of the other guys from the school specific thread for my top choice volunteered us to be admins for the c/o 2023 FB group lol. I just made the page today.

The only thing I’m waiting on now is my HPSP. And all I’m waiting on for that is my doctor to sign my medical form. She’s had them for almost 2 weeks now. It’s getting a little frustrating.

It should be super exciting to start getting to know your future classmates!

And yeah, I would imagine that waiting for that form is quite aggravating. Have you reminded them about it yet?

Yeah. They’ve only accepted like 40 people or something so far.

Twice lol.

Oh wow, they must have been super impressed by your application and interview then, to accept you so quickly!

Working in a doctor's office has taught me the art of precisely how to annoy them to get paperwork done lol

I guess so. I also wrote them a letter of intent, which probably helped. They are super pro-military too. I'm so thankful to have been accepted. Now I just need to get this HPSP stuff taken care of.

Yeah, I mean we do a TON of paperwork in the military. But in the military, I'm an E-6 and an LPO. Which means if a division is not getting me the paperwork I need, I go talk to their LPO and ask him to get her guys' asses in gear. Taking two weeks to sign a form and return it would not fly at my last command (or any command I've been to). I think that's the frustrating part. She's on her own schedule, and there's nothing I can do to expedite it lol.

I hate that feeling of knowing that something I need is riding entirely on someone else and there's nothing I can do about it. I swear it's one of the worst feelings in the world lol. I hope she gets that form signed soon so that you can put HPSP stuff behind you!

Thanks. Yeah, it will be nice to have everything all set. That's literally the last thing I need to get approved, and then I'll be good to go. Then we just have to look for a house, get approved to rent, commission, get orders, set up the govy move, move out there, go on a short vacation, come back, and start school! lol

:dead: <---- me whenever my phone makes a noise. I swear I'm going to actually have a heart attack one of these times lol.

I think I need some of @Goro 's Xanax. This silence from schools is going to be the death of me.

Take two of these

and two of these:

Do we need to actively make sure we fulfill all of our pre-matriculation requirements or will the school reach out to us about that? Like a lot of people I'm now nervous about losing my acceptance lol

Edit: I mean vaccinations and other random stuff

They should provide you with information on what needs to get done. Mine sent me a link to an accepted students page that has a pdf of everything we need to do prior to matriculation. It’s up to us to get it done though.

Ok guess I just haven’t received anything like that then. I’ll try not to worry about it

lmao theres a school I was accepted to that wants a copy of an (at-least) 8 pg paper I've written in a humanities course. I definitely did that, but tbh I have no idea where those files might be since I cleaned out my hard-drive after graduating.

I laughed out loud.

Last 8+ page paper I wrote for a humanities class was in a foreign language, foreign country, and I had to pay a typist to type it for me...I only received the hard copy. Obviously, this was before all students carried a laptop everywhere and "internet cafe" was not a thing.

Anyone do the background check from certiphi yet? I only know my past 2 addresses and I've had like 4 or 5. Is that okay or do I need to find my exact addresses? The older ones were while I was very young. Moved around a few times up until the age of 5.

I did mine. You need your actual addresses. Doesn’t it say to stop when you hit 18? Most background checks want you to go back 7-10 years or until your hit when you were 18.

I forget what certephi said cause I filled up every spot and only got to when I was 27 lol.

Sounds like we had very similar situations, and I only listed my one address from ages 6-18 and then my current college address, and they never raised any issues with it (so only two addresses total)

Haha they really need just an "active duty" option instead of putting all the addresses

Thank you both! That's a relief. I know my past 2 addresses and the rest are older than 7 to 10 years ago so i guess that should be fine then.

lol I know. The best was that for HPSP I had to fill out the security clearance paperwork again despite having an active security clearance. That was fun. It's like 35 pages.

I'm not 100% sure. I'm 35, so I could only go back so far and didn't actually pay attention to what they asked for, since I knew I wouldn't be able to provide all of them anyway. They apparently didn't care about that, because it came back clean. Just do whatever it says.

I gave all the ones I had. I was able to give the ones up to 18 years ago. Sounds like that worked fine for lemonade58 though.

I couldn’t remember some of the street numbers so I put like 76XX9 Dayton St or whatever and mine came back a few days later clear on everything. Lol. I tried.

Okay is anybody else experiencing the "need to know" starting to hit suddenly this week or so? I was just minding my own business being patient and suddenly I'm getting really antsy waiting for a few big decisions around now and in February

I've actually been fine lately. Felt this way all through the first half of January but recently haven't thought about it much. I've been very distracted with work and classes again though so that might be part of it.

Mostly in a "waiting for pre-matriculation stuff" way. Awaiting one more decision end of this month, but I essentially have my mind made up after getting into a top choice and am ready to get the ball rolling to make it actually official!

Basically all my decisions are in. I’m waiting on one waitlist, but I’ve already decided where I’m going. Just gotta wait for the pre-matriculation stuff to start rolling in.

Yeah I guess it depends on whether you know where you're going yet or not. I'm waiting on some big decisions in Feb. and my SO is applying to another health profession, so coordinating whether we might end up in similar regions is increasing my anxiety as he narrows down his list

sidenote @freedoctor17 I see you in a lot of the threads I'm waiting on decisions for so at least we are waiting together!

Best of luck to you! It's definitely been a long process. Was always surprised inithe past a bout how anxious it can make people but now i realize why haha.

so once we get our certiphi report back all we do is "release" after reading it and then we're done right

I also released it, and the school got it right away. You only have to do an extra step if you have to submit it to a third party (i.e., not a school).

How did y'all know your schools received it? Portal update, confirmation email etc?

I released mine a week ago and have heard nothing since from any of the schools I'm accepted at and I'm stressing about it more than I should be...

I called admissions about something else and she mentioned that she had just received it. I didn't get any sort of confirmation email from the school or anything.
