"This is probably the worst gift I've ever seen. Thanks a lot."

Back in the day, George Mullner was a coal miner. He didn't like to talk about how long ago "back in the day" was, but rumors say he had hair then.

Now... he was older. Old. Some would say senile, and that sometimes he said things that didn't make sense. There was a lot about George that didn't make sense, though. Why did you hear footsteps when he was moving, even though he' was in a wheelchair? Why did he post requests for quartz on the Help Wanted board, but get testy if you gave him any as a gift? It just didn't make sense.

Some of the island inhabitants felt that what he was saying didn't make sense, either. He was hopping from vote to vote with a vigor that didn't seem ... fitting for an old man in a wheelchair. What kind of wheelchair is on springs to leap around like that? It all just seemed very suspicious.

"I don't understand," he said, furrowing his brow as he glared out at the crowd forming around him. He hoped no one noticed the sweat starting to trickle down his neck. When had it gotten so hot in here?

"If you don't understand, why are you doing it?"
"I don't KNOW!!!" he roared.
"If you don't know what you're doing, how can we trust that you won't do something like put UNDERWEAR in the SOUP FOR THE GOVERNOR?"
"WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT?? THAT SOUNDS LIKE NONSENSE!!!" He legitimately had no idea what was happening at this point.

Someone held up a pair of tighty-whiteys, pinched between two fingers to ensure as minimal contact as possible.

"He was going to put these in the soup at the luau!" came a voice.

He was confused. Panicked. He didn't know what to do. He wasn't sure if he'd seen those before. In a last ditch effort, he made eye contact with the nearest person, drew a deep breath, and bellowed:

"I. WEAR. BOXERS."

But it just seemed like too big of a risk to take. He couldn't be near the soup. They had to be safe ... right?
