Sorry to make another "what should I do" thread. Here is the situation:

I'm accepted at Temple and in the "Acceptance Range" category at Tulane. I'm OOS at both schools and tuition is fairly similar. Temple has great facilities and I really think I would fit in with the students. The same goes for Tulane. The con for Temple is location, as many others have noted. IMO the clinical opportunities are comparable as well (for my interests anyways).

I'm wondering if I should be happy with Temple or try to go for Tulane with a Letter of Intent? Obviously, I would never write one if I wasn't 150% positive I wanted to go there (hence, this thread). Any opinions/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As a side note, I'm on hold post-interview at my state school. I'm not writing a LOI to them because I didn't really like it...yes, it's much less $$$, but there is a chance of being placed in 1 of 3 locations. I don't like that sort of uncertainty if I'm offering to withdraw other acceptances to go there. BUT...any input on reconsidering this would also be appreciated.

Once again, sorry for the long post. Thanks for any advice.

I think it would make sense to write to Tulane. Even if you feel uncomfortable stating you would absolutely go there if accepted, you could say you have been accepted to another school but remain extremely interested in Tulane.

Worst case, you don't get off the waitlist at Tulane, and you go to Temple. Either way, you're in a medical school that you seem to be happy with 🙂

Tulane is also very receptive to these letters/emails as well.

What state school are you considering?

the state school is UIC. I'm on hold and at this point I think Chicago placement is highly unlikely 😎
