***The Official Midwestern-Illinois Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Congrats to those that got accepted! although it leads me to question how theyre handling applicants? I interviewed back in nov, have been waitlisted but people get calls of acceptances the next day after interviewing post-dec. Given im sure those applicants are deserving of an acceptance but is MDW even considering giving the waitlisted students a seat?
 
Does anyone know if MWU update status on Aadsas when they reject you? They called someone who I interviewed with 2 days later but I haven’t gotten a rejection email or waitlist call? The school said my status is still under review in their system.

Mine still none On ADSAS I did my interview on feb 12 didn’t hear back too

I was told that as many as 40% of the students on the waitlist end up withdrawing their app Bc they go elsewhere. If this is true, then chances of being accepted from the alternate list is high. I would call and check your status. Whenever you call, they add that to the notes and place it inside your folder
 

so i got rejected by mwu-az but aadsas still says received/under review so maybe its similar to mwu-il lol.

I wouldn’t go off of your AADSAS status. If I remember correctly mine either said “none” or “under review” until about 2 weeks after I was notified in email that I was waitlisted. So it seems that they don’t really use/prioritize that status, you’ll hear back directly way before they ever get around to updating it!

Do you (or anyone else!) know if they accept from the alternate list in order of when you interviewed?

As with all waitlists, if for example, an Asian OOS female student withdraws their acceptance, they will look for someone similar to that (Another OOS student, female, with similar background) because they already made a stats list for diversity that they want to meet. At least that's what I was told, they wouldn't just pick the first person on the list
 
Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I withdrew my matriculation into MW-IL. I have committed to another dental school. I really hope whomever gets offered my seat makes the best of the opportunity and becomes a very successful dentist! I really loved the culture at this school and think it is a great program for our dental eduction!

So I submitted my application to Midwestern 3 day before the cycle ended and then received an interview invitation within the next day or two. My interview is tomorrow but received an email saying the i haven't fulfilled my prerequisites. I am confused why I was offered an interview if my prerequisites haven't been fulfilled. If anyone can help me figure out what this means that would be amazing. Im not sure if i am interviewing for the waitlist or...
 
Just received news I’d wait list, interviewed on the 12. Anyone have experience with successfully getting off the wait list? Please PM me with any tips or advice.

They give interviews and if selected you have to finish all prerequisites before entering the class in the fall.

I was accepted 2 days after my interview last week and my status never changed. It still says none since I submitted my app. I don't think they update that.

Happened to a Friend of mine with MWU. It means you will have to fulfill them over the summer. They can still accept you but you have to complete them with a satisfactory grade BEFORE matriculation

i was accepted Friday and my status says “offer accepted”. I did pay the matriculation deposit though

They actually did update my status overnight! This morning says "offer accepted". Before that it always said "none"

My DAT is a 21AA/23TS/23PAT
My undergrad GPA is a 3.1
Post-bacc GPA 3.7
Over 1000+ shadowing hours
My application was verified by the first week of August.
I've had 4 other interviews but no luck so far.
I've written a letter of interest and called literally 3 times, and every time they wrote how interested I am on my application.

Any advice at this point??? I really want this school.
I just don't know what they don't like about my application. 🙁

The best advice I can give you is to hang in there. I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but no news is good news! If they have not rejected you yet I would not give up on the school. I know this school interviews until April, so you still have plenty of time. I am in the same situation with another school and as much as it sucks, it will all work out in the end.

I submitted in June, had multiple acceptances, send MWU two letters and called them once, then interviewed and got accepted last week. Try to hang in there, I am sure they will get to you soon
 
Interviewed on Tuesday. Received the acceptance call earlier today!!
 
they sent out interviews today, still didn't get one, but I thought you all should know

If you're planning to reapply, do you need to ask for new letters or rec from profs/ dentists? or can you just resubmit your old application the day the portal opens with the previous letters

Couple of years ago, everything from the last year’s application stayed on AADSAS, but unfortunately they have changed that, and you have to re-submit everything all over again.
