Time To Get a WWatch - Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't remember feeling this confused about a game since the G-Man incident where everyone was town and the host was performing some kind of psychological experiment. Only Clem will have a clue what I am talking about, and I don't actually suggest we're in a game like that. But that's how baffled I am right now.

I'm staying on Nate, because if my brain is producing nothing useful whatsoever then I'm just going to turn it off and follow mechanics.

tone bad.

Closest I come to confident reads:
SportPonies is town.
Santygrass is town.

"Confident" is too strong a word, but in this environment I can only follow my gut reads:
Animal Midwife is town.
Clem is town.

If all of the above are correct, then one more town read still "solves" the game (at least from my own vantage point).

All of these people "look" town on some level or another, but there's also some part of my gut that resists that view:
Aprilthearab
Empire
NateTheLesser
PSV
Truenamer

If I can remove one of those names and move into the two tiers above, then it's fine. I don't actually have a clue which name that should be, but perhaps I can call upon a sort of SDN consensus for the names they know best.

If the SDN regulars had to lock one of these three as town (just pretend, please), which is best? April, PSV, or Truenamer?

Why am I below Santy and Sporty?

I'd choose April.

Santy's claim today is probably the best town indicator in the game, just given what it is, when he claimed it, and why. It's one of very few concrete things I can grasp at. Sporty has been contending with this day phase in a way that I think looks quite authentic, particularly with respect to Nate's claim, the weird state of too-many-town-reads pervading the thread, and most importantly the samac kill (trying to find an SDN player to attribute it to).

It's not that you got "worse" really. They got more town. You still "look" town, and I think that is especially apparent when you get into questioning players. But I also could see you being mafia and it would surprise me a little less than it would with Sporty.

You do remember I've been pushing Nate though, right?

Thank you. Do either of you believe it's plausible that Truenamer has become victimized by confirmation bias (i.e., he was an early suspect and just never managed to overcome that impression despite honest efforts)? Or is he just plain old suspicious?
I mean, he's never been misyeeted but outside of that he's continually been village to me.

I think I found a True village... quirk.

I don't want to call it a village tell exactly but I'll be interested in seeing what affiliation he is this game and if it holds... true.
Okay but after this game you gotta tell me so I can imitate it properly when I wolf

Sure. I don't think that's town-indicative necessarily. He's the easiest push on the board right now, and probably easier for you than for anyone else given your Day 1 exchanges. It's not "suspicious" to me, but it doesn't impact my read a great deal.

His play this game is consistent with village play in previous games, but he's enough of a noob where there's not as much data for him.
I still have a gnawing feeling in my stomach about his early play but I'm trying to set that aside for the concrete things I do know on his ISOs.

PSV

If I am understanding this conversation then, it seems that AM and Sporty would rank the three SDN regulars I mentioned as follows:

AM:
April > True ≥ PSV

Sporty:
PSV > True ≥ April

Please correct me if this is incorrect. I am interpreting Truenamer as a soft "second" in each case since you both just provided some kind of town case for him.

This is all just to help me sort my own POE, so I always appreciate humoring my questions and babble.

Sporty's never voted him and Santy has only briefly been on him though.

That would be correct.

I've stated that I'm okay with seeing him yoten today.
Coming from someone who frequently sits off the main vote because runaway wagons are useless, this is unpleasant.
I don't appreciate that implication. I'm getting a lot better at voting with my village reads. I'm not even saying you have to vote for him specifically. It's just that if you're in a w!Nate world, then it's not possible for me to be a wolf. So it's frustrating.

I'm sorry you're frustrated. And I'll admit that I did not look at a recent tally to see you're voting for him.

But I'm also about the last person here that'll clear you if you vote a wolf.... and you know I also don't see a point in contemplating packmates when we haven't flipped a wolf yet.

(I'm also living in a universe where I think there's a 3P)

Well, I'm voting PSV currently I was on him for almost all of yesterday.

You're not the last person. This isn't the first time I've been in this position this year.

Sporty and AM, you seem to have diametrically opposing reads on SDN regulars. Do you normally see eye to eye?

Huh.

I'd be surprised if he didn't flip wolf at this point.
Where does this high degree of confidence in Nate come from?

I apologize if I missed your case on him, I can go look for it if you've spelled it out.

Not usually. Last time we agreed was about shooting Zenge. That was back in early winter.

what does this mean
Last game, I voted Cray. Then she acted on me. Trilt still POE'd me.

Stranger Things I voted Barks. Was still POE'd and I was largely distrusted by everyone but True.

Bowling also got me severely POE'd despite being enthusiastic about Zenge dying.

Those are just off the top of my head.

God Stranger Things was frustrating, you were *radiating* Village AM energy

okay, I just didn't understand what you were referring to. I see now that it's bussing.

I'm just not understanding why you're so sure he's a wolf, like I should be preemptively clearing you for voting for Nate.

Not playing like I expect a mafioso with a big tally lead to play. I think Empire’s view is a bit uncharitable.
i have played a lot of mafia this year and seen a lot of mafia run up in the early game this way and he fits that profile. i don't want to act like i'm shoveling dirt on him or anything - i want to give him every chance to speak, but i am just not seeing it here from him

admittedly he finally gave me SOME meat with the sportponies read; I'm mulling that over because my read on her was primarily feel-based in that she seemed to be saying the right things at the right moment and making posts that looked like they were solving to me but i don't keep notes so i couldn't point directly to them. i'll give her a look to check my feelings there but my vote is likely to stay where it is.

maybe, except I don't think we really have any good evidence as to who would be wolf vs 3P at this time so it's not like it's a different type of hunt atm.
My thing is there's no evidence that 3p exists outside of a Zenge post which may still be a joke.
