Yeah, I got in through my SMP. So, I guess you can say we're similar in that regard. I'm still 2013 so far 🙂

Yeah, join the group dcowboys. We're not going anywhere until we hear from them. I'm going to hail TCOM with letters, calls and updates for sure.

please do try to remember, they do move through a lot of their waitlist, ive shown you the stats before on success if you interview. and from personal experience can tell you my best bud at tcom got accepted 1 week before orientation as he was preparing to take the mcats again. ive also heard other stories about people coming in during orientation, as a matter of fact a few students from the group photo we took the second or third day of orientation didnt even begin classes because they left for another school, deferred due to personal reasons, etc. keep a positive attitude man.

thanks fergustsi for giving us great info and sticking around here for the match! we're definitely not giving up on TCOM. you just might see our annoying little first year faces in a few months 😛 thanks, again!

i'm not so sure about that actually. that's a good question. we can ask them when we bug them on Monday. oh man they're going to receive a lot of aggressive phone calls.

The OOS one is ranked I think so im guessing IS is also....based on your stats and interview score

Yeah, with a test coming up, I might do the same. Although, if they were prepared, they will probably just notify you on your status page to save everyone the trouble. I hope that they tell you upfront on the website if you're on the waitlist.

I called today to find out my status and when he told me I was waitlisted he said my letter by snail mail to notify me of this was being mailed today....and my status has NOT changed online. It still says under review....so don't lose hope! You could be waitlisted and it just hasn't changed on your status page like me

the nerves of today sucked booty for sure. it's definitely not over until we figure out where we stand with TCOM. all we can do now is try our best to get some rest after this roller coaster.

haha yeah. we're so big we need our own match. all the medical schools in texas (7 MD and 1 DO). Baylor College of Medicine isn't included b/c apparently they're too good for the University of Texas system 😛

Yep, TX has a separate match that has all of the schools in TX include the one DO school. TX also has their own application called TMDSAS.

But seriously even if you didn’t match realize that there is a wait list and it does move! I looked on MDapplicants.com and found an applicant who didn’t get in until May. And as other have said an acceptance can come much later!

I don't get on here very often but I wanted to let you know I got in last year one week before orientation, so it can happen! Although unbelievably hectic, it was worth it.

Don't bother contacting TMDSAS about waitlists...they don't have information about that. I just called the school on Monday after the match and they let me know I was on the waitlist. Oh, and my status page did not reflect I was on the waitlist right away. Good luck!

I emailed admissions and asked about letters of intent but they said that at this point there is nothing much more that can be done to change your status and location on the wait list---it is pretty much locked in. Maybe if I write a song about how wonderful I think the program is and post it on YouTube I will get bumped up on the wait list... probably not😛

I sent an "update" letter in late May about the same time they got my final transcript. I just expressed my interest, my final GPA and science GPA, and new EC's I had done since my interview. It was still 2 months before I got accepted, so I doubt my letter had anything to do with my acceptance.

I was going to call them and see about the letters of intent too. I'll probably get the same answer but oh well, worth trying. That and there's this SMP to finish. Thanks gump for letting us know how it works a bit. I'll still give it a shot, but it seems that's how it works.

EDIT - Cbo, I just noticed your posts on my profile. Thanks for laying it out so clearly. It's unfortunate, but I'm starting to see that it is the case. I feel that I should go ahead and send something since it would kill me not to, but we'll see.

Please take this site with a grain of salt - just like you should take anything I say with a grain of salt (I'm only a 1st year, after all).
There may be valid concerns there but I think it is blown out of proportion. There are many sides to this issue.

Oh well, yeah, it's a totally loaded site. I didn't really see a productive discussion in the comments section or anywhere for that matter. I think there was only one commenter that said "We should wait for the results of the study group and approach this situation calmly and pragmatically". It was probably the only objective thing in that website.

The letter was fairly general and had a few interesting stipulations. For example, if by June 1st, you already have a seat at another TX school, TCOM will be unable to offer you admission. I think that was the only interesting point; the rest was just them saying they will accept people off of the waitlist in intermittent times.

I'm going to double confirm to see if there's really nothing we can do to improve or update our situation. It's the least I can do to not drive me insane while waiting.

Hey congrats on the match and the wedding! Yeah, I was wondering where a lot of people went but it's good to see them again. And thanks, I hope I can make it to TCOM; I'd love to meet everyone.

I think we discussed it a little earlier. There's really no info. Anything can happen and I'm sure there are patterns, but it'll only be anecdotal evidence for us to work with.

So, here's what I plan to ask them when I call on Wed or Thurs:

Can we improve our application from this point onward?
Will LoIs affect our position in anyway?
Should we still send Financial Aid to TCOM (assuming you're doing it)?

That last question is pretty much a given, but I'd like for them to say something certain and possibly new. If someone calls before then, feel free to ask them anything I was going to.

30 people you say? Did the orientation presenter say that or is it just speculation? I wonder how many people are waitlisted too, because it seems not that many people get flat out rejected.

Anyhow thanks for the hope. We might not be able to do much to help our situations, so it's just up to good old fashioned fate.

I did give them a call and found out I was wait listed too. I think you are right Flu Shot about not many people who were interviewed get rejected. They did not tell me much other than basically the list is ranked but we can not tell you were you are ranked which to me makes no sense but thats how it is. In terms of sending grade updates and activity updates he said you can but your spot and rank are pretty much locked. He did tell me there will be movement most likely starting in April or May. I also had emailed them before I was bold enough to call so if anything new comes up I will let you guys know.

Same here. I am going to email Lynn Scott right now and just make sure that everything is fine. I have a couple of other interviews that I want to decline based on getting into TCOM, but want to make sure it's official before I reject other schools!

Hello, congrats to everyone accepted!
I am still "under review" on the page.
However, I got the official acceptance letter in the mail today.
The letter is dated January 30.
They ask for your accept/reject response postmarked by Feb. 13.

when you log into the tcom website click people tools on the left hand side, then my to do list, on the drop down menu select student center. At the bottom of the page it has admission information and it should say accepted.

i was freaking out about it too earlier, and i finally figured it out.

i'll be at TCOM next year too (just found out in the match)! Can't wait to meet everyone!
