I interviewed Oct 19th, nothing yet...fingers crossed, <3 this school!

for the people who found out did the application status change in the morning or has it been changing throughout the day? lol

i have been refreshing my application status page every 10 minutes!!

Caroline just called me to congratulate me and let me know about the acceptance packet they will be mailing out

Did anyone else get a call to confirm their online status? I'm being neurotic and paranoid. Apologies to everyone who has to read this.

To the above poster, mine changed this morning. I'm not sure exactly when it changed -- I checked it when I saw people posting on here.

My status changed at 10am this morning and I got a phone call after lunch around 1pm.

(I interviewed in Aug)

I'm posting on behalf of my husband. He was an out of state applicant who interviewed on October 5th and was accepted today. His online status changed around 11 a.m. PDT and he received a phone call a little before 1 p.m. PDT. It appears that they are updating statuses throughout the day as earlier this morning his still said Under Review.

Best Wishes to all of you!

Ugggh mine says accepted, but no phone call. I emailed Caroline about an hour ago, no response yet. I just want some confirmation!!

Edit: okay, got the phone call, I'm officially accepted 🙂 Happy day! Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear!!

I created a 2015 TCOM page on facebook. It's open to the public so just search "TCOM Class of 2015" and join!

TCOM is an amazing school partly because of the people who go there. Can't wait to meet the prospective classmates.

Good luck to the rest who weren't pre-matched today! Hope to see you in the group before long.

Where can we check the "status" everyone is talking about? I am really stoked but I would like to see it in writing (and I can't wait for the letter). 😀

Accepted today!
Got a call around 3pm!

I am super excited...congrats to all and hope people waiting hear soon!

TCOM 2015!

ACCEPTED!!! I'm gonna be a doctor!!! I got a phone call at 11am. I was at another interview though. lol. I interviewed here on October 12th

I interviewed last Tuesday and did not get a prematch yesterday... However, I just logged on to my TCOM status page and my status just changed to "your application is under review" so maybe they are just now getting around to the people that interviewed last week! I may have a chance at prematch after all!!! Maybe... I hope... I could be very wrong, but I need something to cheer me up right now because I did not get anything yesterday. So this would be my attempt to grasp at straws... 🙄

Good luck noshie!! Try taking your mind off of it for a while and have some fun!

No worries yet Noshie, when I interviewed at TCOM they hinted that the Admissions Com were reviewing applications approx 2 or 3 weeks after they came in for the interview. Not sure how accurate this is but just give it a few weeks.

Interview invite today! OOS, complete November 2. I have to call back to schedule though. Anyone know when invites are being offered and what the typical accepted OOS stats would be?!?

well i just tried to log on to my account today and it says I no longer have access to the system. i am assuming that is a REJECTION. weird

I got a question for you guys. When I log in to check my application status, all I get is my application has been recieved and application is complete. It doesn't say under review or anything, and I have no "to do" items. I submitted back in early July. Am I on the right page?

Weird. Check your to-do list. Maybe you have something left to do (grades/classes/transcripts, who knows). Otherwise you should call ASAP.

That is normal... If you haven't interviewed yet, this is what your status will be. Mine said I was received and complete until I got an interview a few weeks ago. After my interview, it changed to under review. Yours won't change until they give you an interview. Don't sweat it, there is still time.

That does not mean you are rejected! I have applied to TCOM before and been rejected... It will just say that they have reached a decision and you will be getting a letter in the mail telling you your status. What you have is not a rejection, it is probably a glitch. You should call them and get this fixed.

Hey Guys!
I'm new to SDN, but I have been keeping up with this thread recently. Noshie, I'm in the same boat as you--my status changed on Monday, so I assume we will hear soon.

For those of you who have already been accepted (Congratulations!), I was wondering how long your status said "Under review" before it changed to accepted.

Thanks!

When did you interview? Was it the same week as me? I was there on Tuesday, November 9th... Just wondering if they are just now looking at our stuff.

Welcome to SDN! 🙂

I interviewed on October 19th, but there was a hold on my application till November 1st, because a letter had not come in yet. I called today, and they have just sent my application to the reviewing committee. I'm having a hard time being patient, but that's all we can do for now.

So I am guessing if you see "Your application has been reviewed. Any decisions will be sent via U.S. mail." is the kiss of rejection.

I also noticed when I logged into TMDSAS that TCOM just disappeared from my ranking list, which was there just two days ago...

really sorry to hear that 🙁

Yup... That status is the kiss of rejection... 🙁 I am really sorry to hear that! That sucks that they removed you from their ranking list! They really should not give out rejections and just wait for the match to decline you! How rude!!! Its ok though, keep your head up and everything will turn out for the best! You still have A&M to hear from and AZCOM is a sure thing... 🙂

I was fortunate enough to prematch Monday, but I have a question that I was hoping someone could answer. I have a concern regarding the 8:00 am to 5:00 pm M-F class schedule. That seems to be an inordinate amount of class time, which leaves little time to study the material being taught in class(especially since I will have an hour commute each way). Can anyone shed any light on how the class schedule works as a practical matter? Thanks.

Anyone know when the next round of pre-match acceptances will be?😎

I am a current first year at TCOM. Yes our lecture schedule is pretty much 8-5 everyday but most of the lectures are not mandatory. We have what are called MLM [clinical integration of material taught] which are mandatory to attend. There are some other classes as well which are mandatory attendance. Anyways, there is plenty of scheduled class time which is not mandatory and its entirely your choice to attend or not. What I would suggest is, in the beginning go to the lectures and see if that works for you (There are some courses for which the lecture attendance would be suggested. PM me if you want to know which ones) If it does not, then study on your own and only attend the mandatory lectures 🙂.
TCOM is a great school and congrats on getting prematched.

Does anyone know if I decline the offer of acceptance, will that completely take me off their accepted list or can I still Match there during the match in Feb.? I am still waiting to interview at A&M and hoping for an interview invite from SA, so didnt want to already commit to TCOM, but would like to keep that option open since I really liked it there....

just hold on to the one acceptance you have and want. Go read about the Texas match system so you can understand how it all works.

The schedule at TCOM is the worst of any school in Texas. It doesnt give you a lot of time to study important subjects while bombarding you with basically time waster classes. A lot of the classes give graded quizzes that makes you want to attend lecture in order to secure a good grade. Overall the schedule gets an F in my book.

I'm a little confused. If I accept my offer of acceptance to TCOM, I can still rank other Texas schools higher in the match and get in somewhere else, right? I'm not actually 100% committed to TCOM? I liked TCOM, but I was more attracted to the curriculum/schedule of other schools. I just don't wanna risk it and give up my TCOM acceptance...

Accepting is not a commitment that you will attend--you are just asking them to hold your place. You can rank them very last for the match if you want and go to whatever school accepts you. Do not decline the acceptance until you have another one. Like someone else said, it's all explained on the TMDSAS website.

If I'm an OOS applicant that's interviewing on Dec 7, does anyone know the chances of making Pre-Match? I have above average grades and around the average accepted MCAT. 😕

persective according to a MS1 at TCOM (me)
Ok, the schedule stinks (at least during the first year), more than stinks, you go to class at 8, get out at 4-5 (or earlier some days) and then study till 11-12, go to bed and start again the next day with weekly quizes and test every other week to every week.
If you are not a go to class person, you might want to reconsider TCOM (although regular lectures are not required attendance). There are a lot of extra class activities, some very important (clinical medicine, learning to do a physical exam) and some of debatable importance (informatics aka how to read a journal article from the biomedical sciences).
Personally I do not mind the extra classes they really have minimal time impact aside from sitting in class, and if you put in the minimal work needed to do well in them they are a great way to boost your gpa.

Second the prematch thing. If you prematched and love TCOM great you are set. If you prematched and love some other school more, just list that other school higher on the match list (some time in january or febuary) and if that other school lists you high as well, you might match at that other school. if you have not prematched, patience.

Also if anyone is interested in working in rural areas or underserved populations you might want to consider the ROME program. In ROME you get extra and earlier clinical experiance (2 overnight ER observations in the first year), and you get to learn some skills earlier (phlebotomy, IV, joint injections etc.). It is a little more work, but it is worth it (and you generally get to find a close group of friends among the other students in ROME.
You also spend some of your 3 and 4th year rotations in rural sites which means that there are less people (residents and fellows) between you and the attending and what is going on. Feel free to messaage me about questions about ROME, TCOM, or dual degree programs or any other questions you might have.

So since acceptances are sent out on Nov 15, does interviewing earlier in the cycle still help? Does TCOM review applicants as they roll in and hold acceptances till prematch day or do they review all applications around nov 15 and send out the offers then

How long did it take you guys to get TCOM on your match list on TMDSAS after you interviewed? Its been two week since I interviewed at TCOM and I am still under review...

Under review since yesterday. The waiting begins yet again!

It is my understanding that it's a rolling admissions process. After interviews, it may take about 2 weeks before the admissions committee comes together and ranks you by whatever formula they use. Then they basically go down that list and offer acceptances. They can and will offer acceptances up until the end of the year. After the class is full, they'll use that same list for their waitlist. Waitlists are the story of my life! 🙁 Hopefully this year will be better! :xf:

Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to all who are waiting to hear something. 👍👍

Hahahaha, this was funny and cute.

You realize every time I see you as the last poster in this thread I think its going to be you proclaiming your acceptance right? 😛

EDIT: And your other texas schools -.- just saw your post in the tech thread lol
