So I was digging around last years TCOM thread and found something interesting... 🙂 Looks like last year they got the second batch of acceptances out during the week of Christmas, around the 20 and 21st of Dec. If this holds true, some of us could get some amazing news! I am excited to see what happens!

:laugh: You are the second person to ask me that... Well, Tech is my number 1 school! thats why I have a sad face next to it, because I didn't get a prematch and I am worried that I may not even match there. Makes my heart hurt! I want it bad...

I feel like a crazy weirdo because I get so excited when I see that you posted last in this thread and I don't even know you. Your story is just so inspiring! Keeping my fingers crossed for some good news for you soon 🙂

Edit, that sounds weird. I mean that I'm excited because I think you're posting with acceptance news, haha.

Nosh, you're right. TCOM will give out a second batch of pre-matches before the adcoms leave on Dec 23. That is what Patrick from the office told me. Wishing everyone the best of luck.:xf::xf::xf:

C'mon Noshie, match will be on our side 🙂xf🙂!! Tech is my number 1 too (but I loved TCOM tons), and I also interviewed mid-September. No prematch yet, but I'm not giving up hope for the match. 😀
 
Has anyone gotten any news today? I was hoping for some pre-matches this week.

They will call you, so have your phone by your side at all time.

I know, but working the 9-5 + weekends doing research is starting to get to me too..
I dont know if you can call 5 weeks off bt 1st and 2nd yr summer. lol

Urk. I was really hoping for good news today! I will be travelling on the 23rd which means my phone will be off most of the time... Well, there is always voicemail...

I'm not great, I shoot in the mid 90's (just good enough not to slow anyone down). I have a few beers and just talk shop when I play golf, I'm not trying to go pro! ha
But yeah, lets go play. I haven't played in DFW yet.

On another note: I got a letter today from TCOM and I thought I would share part of it...

"Dear TCOM Class of 2015:
I do hope you are enjoying your holidays! We have concluded our fall interviews and in the process have selected one of the best entering classes in the history of the medical school."

I hear ya. I shot mid 80's and I haven't play any courses in Ft.Worth yet. Im sure they got some nice ones hopefully that don't break the bank.
 
This is more curiosity than anything, but what's the dress code for OMM lab?

As soon as I saw this I went out to check my mail and got SO EXCITED to see a big envelope! But then I see that it's just a magazine and not exciting school info and checklists and such. Womp womp. I know it doesn't make sense to send that stuff out so early, but I want to get this process rolling already!! I don't think it's fully sunk in that I really AM going to be a doctor. The more tangible dates and info/requirements they send me the more real it'll become. Hurry up and send me stuff, TCOM!!

I don't think the feeling of being a doctor will truly sink in till you face a very sick person who is looking at you for help and there is no 'backup.'

We are so lucky to have picked a field like medicine. Just the whole idea (of being a doc) has a romantic quality to it. I hope that feeling never goes away. Maybe a few years working in the ED will fix that though! ha
 
I am an out-of-state applicant and I interviewed on November 9th, but haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone who interviewed then heard anything, or know when we should hear back?
 
If we don't hear from them today, we will have to wait until Feb. 1st. :xf:

UPDATE:

Just confirmed that they they will be offering acceptances before the end of the day (5pm depending on the speed of their servers) via the student portal. Let's keep our hopes up!

Nothing on my portal yet, it still says under review... :'( I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

It's 5pm... Has anyone else received anything?? I'm starting my countdown to the match... 39 days and counting! 😛 Ugh, this wait is really much harder than I thought it would be...

Never mind. I got a call today saying I was accepted and that my acceptance packet is in the mail!
 
I'm guessing this was all the prematches? Not many people posted updates...
 
Who knows.. not everyone knows about this forum and lets not forget about the lurkers. I was told by a previous adcom that only about 1/3 of the seats are filled via pre-match.. its usually the cream of the crop since they are the ones on the top of the ranked list. The rest of us must wait until February 1st and see what happens. Lets hope for the best! 😀
 
I'm in the UNTHSC med sci program right now and got the acceptance call yesterday afternoon!! Congrats to everyone that got a pre-match offer!!

Like Elkewlbeanz said, only about 1/3 is filled from these offers. I interviewed on Nov 16th, and I asked about how many pre-match batches they were having. She said they had one the day pre-match offers were allowed to be sent out, and they sent out ~230 offers that first day! That almost broke my heart lol. But just remember that usually those same people have offers elsewhere too if they got in that early. Just keep your hopes up!

They gave out 230 the first day???
If they only give out 1/3 of the offers during pre-match that would put total offers given this year at (of course this number would be even higher because I'm excluding the number since day 1 of pre-match) 230 x 3 = 690, that is about the number they were interviewing. So that seems a bit high to me.

Taking the number from last year, TCOM gave out 448 offers of admission, therefore if 1/3 of those were filled via pre-match, that would be 448 / 3 = about 150. So I would guess that around 150 offers* of admission have been given out thus far, with most coming from day 1.

So, no need to get all worried for those who haven't pre-mated yet, 2/3rds of the seats are yet to be filled! 👍

Also, for those who don't live in Fort Worth now (which I'll assume is the majority of the incoming class) I just moved up to Ft. Worth last week (I'm back down in San Antonio for the holidays), but 7th street is a very nice place to be in general and it's close to the school, so maybe keep that in mind when the time comes. 😎
 
Yeah the number shocked me, but that's what the admissions lady told me during the interview date! I just assumed it was because the majority of people with pre-matches there don't choose the school, but you made a good point about the total number being interviewed!

I think they are closed this week for break... Though, when I was going to UNTHSC, they never really closed anything. But then again, research is a 24/7 thing.

Someone earlier said that the 23rd was the last day before the admin offices are closed for the holidays. I think they only had 2 pre-match batches

edit: heh, sorry I didn't realize Noshie already replied!
 
Thank you Noshie and Panasonic52! I was hoping that the Admissions office would open in between the holidays.
 
Any other Med Sci prematches?

doesnt seem like the program is worth a crap for getting into tcom considering Ive spoken to several people who have decent stats and a 3.86 in the program and no prematch offers.....

Aren't they guaranteed acceptance if they meet certain criteria?

I'm tossing it up as a possibility if I don't get in this year, but I'm leaning towards a full master's program in something a little more real world.
