To add to the controversy: when I interviewed earlier this week, the admissions committee member who was our host made it sound definite that some people would hear back in January. Not necessarily those of us interviewing that day, but they hand out acceptances then. :O

Hey all, just wanting to pick your brains about my app here. Primary was received 7/23, and I still haven't received a secondary or rejection. I even emailed them a month ago but they never replied. My MCAT=34, GPA=3.7. Is anyone else in the same boat or have any ideas on what's going on? Also, do they accept update letters? Cheers, and good luck to the rest of you 🙂

A buddy of mine asked an admissions person about this. They said that the initial screen (for secondaries) is based a lot on your scores: GPA and MCAT. Don't know exactly what they are looking for, but earlier in this thread it looked like some people with a 9 in Verbal, as what looked like their only blemish, may have been screened out. The second screen (presumably, for interviews) emphasizes your science background. They weren't specific so I don't know what this means, but I'm guessing science GPA, pre-med GPA, research involvement, etc. There was no mention of the actual application / essays, but perhaps these are just the most important things they look for at each screen. They also said that some reviewers are slower than others. Hope this helps 👍.

Any current students please feel free to correct me in great detail 🙂.

I was verified 7/11 w/ a 34 (11/9/14) and 3.82 and STILL have no received a secondary.

Perhaps its the 9 in verbal? I would be pretty pissed if that was it though. I got UCSF secondary and they screen way more for secondaries than UCLA.

Interviews at UCSD, and UCI (and some out of state schools) and not even a secondary from UCLA. what the hell!?

Oh and I emailed them and did not get a response, so I may call them to see what going on here.

Well I interviewed at UCLA, rejected at UCI, on hold at UCSD, so...it doesn't always make sense. Just because you interviewed at "x" school doesn't mean you are entitled to an interview at "y" school. The whole process is so subjective and random.

Interesting, I also have not recieved a secondary from UCLA, got secondaries at every other UC, I also have a 34 with a 9 ( 13-9-12) and a 3.74, verified mid September

this. I got secondaries from all UC's except UCSF this year...In fact, two years ago, with a far less compelling application and weaker EC's and LORs, I received a secondary from UCSF. Schools have their own process for handling all their applications. One thing I've learned at my interviews is that it's obvious that schools see "something" in your application that they like. It's extremely subjective and can't always be quantified by stats or "this EC" or "that LOR". If they get a good vibe about you, your app with get moved along the process.

It seriously depends on who reviews your application and what mood they were in on that day.

did UCLA schedule people during october 23-27? my friend said she got an interview on saturday, but it seems weird that ucla schedules saturdays?

I know the UCLA/Drew program does Saturday, so they could do it at Geffen as well. It's probably better for traffic.

IIRC my only scheduling options were mon-fri.

SAME EXACT BOAT as you, literally same Primary received, MCAT and GPA as well.

That may sound a bit right, I had a 9 in Verbal. Anybody with a 9 in Verbal and get a secondary off the bat?

I said it earlier in this thread...

8 and 9 in Verbal (two exams), secondary 2 weeks after primary was verified in Aug

White, IS, GPA 3.7sh

I mentioned it earlier too. 9 in Verbal, submitted in September, got a 2ndary within a day. 3.7, 32, OOS

Can any current UCLA students speak to the day to day life of a student in the first two years? I can't seem to find any specifics in recent years.

Thank you! 🙂

I have an interview at UCLA and I really need a student to host me on 11/25. I have emailed the gmail address they gave me twice and I haven't heard back. I'm getting really nervous because my interview is coming up and I have no housing.

Does anyone know anything about student hosting at UCLA? I have heard there was a link on the interview invite but it disappears once your interview gets scheduled! Does anyone have that link?

Any help would be very much appreciated!!! 😳

I emailed them and they sent me an email address for finding a host. You could also give them a call!

It's not the 9 in verbal. I was submitted in June with one and I got an II back in September. Originally scheduled for the beginning of November, but I'm flying out of NYC and all the flights got cancelled because of the lovely Hurricane Sandy, so I was forced to reschedule. They were super nice and did it, so now I'm interviewing on January 18. Since they start releasing admissions decisions in January, do you guys think that my chances are pretty badly hurt now that the interview got pushed back 2 months? I'm going to be considered way later in the cycle now...

They apparently only give out a very very small number of acceptances in January, if any at all. They really start sending acceptances on March 30 and later. So you won't be affected. Dr. Hall himself told us that interviewing early doesn't give any advantage.

Anyone here with a 3.5 gpa get an II yet? So far I'm seeing amazing stats get II. Thanks

I have an interview later this month but my Fall transcripts don't come out til the end of December. When should i send in my transcripts? And it is it ALL of my official transcripts they're asking for? Thanks in advance

(Sorry if asked before 😳)

I can't seem to locate my MSAR, so I was hoping someone could look up what is the number of OOS students UCLA accepted last year. Thanks guys!

USNWP says 43.

Anyone turn in your transcripts after your interview. Or does it have to be before?

Does anyone know if lunch is provided during the interview and if so what? I am only asking due dietary restrictions. Thanks!

Yes they have sandwiches chips and fruits if I remember right. I think they also had a Kosher option for a couple of interviewees.

I believe MSAR just gives matriculant information. US News has the acceptance information.

According to US News, of 2601 OOS applicants, 125 were interviewed, 43 were accepted, and 12 enrolled.

Edit: I see mcloaf beat me to it.

You don't have to turn them in until the summer. For some reason it just says it requests them online, but you do not need to turn it in before or at your interview.

I was complete on August 2, and still haven't heard anything. I'm OOS with 3.71 and 35. Should I be worried?

Wrong thread! my bad!

This isn't accurate, there are way more than 12 out of state students.

Glad to see II's are still going out to people complete in August! I submitted my secondary mid-september. I'm not getting my hopes up (I'm OOS) but it would be pretty awesome to get an interview here. I also applied to the PRIME program but they haven't even sent a secondary.

I was complete 8/7. I've pretty much made my peace with it. I mean, they've had our stuff for almost four months now, there's not really a positive spin for this.

To those who have interviewed already - Sorry if this was posted before but on interview day is there just the MMI circuit or is there also a personal one on one interview as well? Thanks!
