I too got the letter today and was waitlisted. Pretty bummed, any idea who this letter needs to be send to? Kinda ridiculous, they want us to do another.

well, i guess it is time to sit by my mailbox. any acceptances yet? or all waitlist?

If only mail was delivered on Saturday in Canada

Georgetown was awesome, hopefully we will all receive some positive news within the next few days.

For whatever reason, the mail never seems to come on saturday where I live. Unless no one in my apartment ever gets mail on saturday, which seems unlikely. My mailman probably just chills at home and delivers the stuff on monday

The people who received decisions by mail, when did you guys interview?

Second week of September

Ah... they're staying true to their promise of four to eight weeks, huh... but closer to eight than four? Or, I guess, by the time they get to my week (second/third week of October), they would definitely be leaning more towards the "eight" than the "four"... 😱

Anyone know if they are sending out acceptances, or just waitlists and rejections? I interviewed on the 23rd and haven't heard back yet...:scared:

No news = Good news (at least in this instance as it seems)

I certainly hope so. I interviewed at GW and Georgetown within a week, and still haven't heard anything from either (GW was 6 weeks ago).

I was at Georgetown on September 18th, so almost 6 weeks here. I'm trying not to think about too much, no use in getting antsy over the unknown. Luckily, basketball begins on Wednesday.. the perfect distraction 😀

Anyone with news?

...just read that Georgetown (in the past) only accepts 1/3 of those it interviews 🙁

Don't forget Georgetown accepts 1/3 of all students it interviews throughout the year, I would think that those of us who interviewed early have better odds.

hey guys, I was complete end of august, and people in the middle of september have been hearing back..is it safe to say I will be getting rejected? I am thinking of sending an LoI because this is actually a school I am interested in.

And the wait continues. I would have expected more of us would have received some news by now.

yeah it seems they really love the LOI. If you are genuinely interested in Georgetown then send them the letter. Good luck

they also seem to reject pretty quickly and i think maybe youre on hold than rejected

I guess a letter of intent won't hurt, but they do interview through March. Don't think you are rejected. 😳 I still have hope for the 12 schools that have yet to get back to me although I was complete in July...

i interviewed the week of sept. 14, and still no mail... i even walked home from work today during my lunch break ahaha. if they met october 16th, then they have made decision about us, right? how long does it take to write the same letters to everyone and send them in the mail? 😡

The admissions coordinator blatantly told me to send a thank you letter to my interviewers.
I was going to send one anyways... but I felt that in a way, that is kind of a LOI.

i sent an email asking for the address for my interviewer, but no response yet. do you just send it to the office of admissions and address is to the interviewer?

Patience, no news is good news👍

No news is good news, really?

they say they make a decision in about 6 weeks and it takes some time for them to notify you so he doesn't have anything to worry about right now. its still early so no news right now in most situations = good news because its better than getting rejected straight up.

Thank you!

All that has appeared on SDN from Georgetown is rejects and waits. If you haven't heard anything then you are in better shape than those that have been rejected or waitlisted so calm down.

Fellow Crb717, thank you for picking up what it was that I was laying down.

no need to thank me, it was so agreeable I had no choice!

I go to grad school here and room with two MS2s so If you are interviewing here and have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to get answers from them.

Looked up the names on the hospital website. Just google him/her.. it should be pretty easy to find.

hey guys could u please give some ideas about what to write for my 2ndary? i know i will read their website for their "philosophy, curriculum, etc". but really i decided to apply there because u know washington is the capital. and some really decent women there straight out of college. i like college girls and those who have just finished college. i plan to finish the essay by tomorrow evening. thanks! this is like the last essay that i have to do.

First, Georgetown is sensative to their location (as far as i have heard). They like people who want to go to Georgetown, not live in DC. Secondly, if you are being serious about the girls then you are a sick **** and need help. That's serial killer ****.

I always knew some people thought like that, but few actually put it out there for everyone to read...

What's wrong with liking college girls? But, as far as putting it in an essay... sounds like a very bad idea.

what kind of tool are u? being fond of college girls and college grads <=25 makes u a serial killer? as for not mentioning that you like "washington for its museum, culture, blabla", thanks. but that makes the essay that much harder. i dont think their curriculum is unique at all. is it supposed to be strong on research? but there are many other schools that fit that criteria. is it even good on international medicine? even if it were, there are other schools that have that. so wtf do i write about?

i didnt say i would put that in an essay. i'm serious here. what do u think i am? it's irrelevant to the question that is being asked. and i AM grateful that someone said i shouldnt focus my essay on how i want to go to washington, rather than georgetown(though honestly i think there are better places than washington, it's just not too bad). but even if someone told me "why do u want to live in washington", i would have much to say...

So don't apply. Seems like you don't have a reason to present to the school besides girls. you can find girls in lots of places, and around many other med schools that may fit your standards for school interest better.

haha georgetown is seriosuly abt their location? well i just found out why i got rejected haha. i had a paragraph about living in DC> hahahah

Complete 8/22, Rejected pre-interview 10/31. Nice Halloween gift, eh? 🙁

It's alright though, I wasn't that keen on going to DC which probably didn't help my essay much 😛

there are many other reasons. whoever looked at your application might be in a bad mood or in a good mood... they might also like or dislike yr amcas statement, ec's, lor's. anyway, ive taken this into account. and ive made an outline about why i like their jesuit philosophy and how it is unique. but i really dont feel like writing right now. i mean if that school were to accept me, i would seriously consider it because DC is all right and they do have good residency placement. but how insulting is it to write a whole page about why u want to go to their school and not any other and then get a rejection and an offer to attend their jesuit SMP program for $40k.(and face it schools have pretty much the same theme about humanism and all that. they all have to adhere to aamc curriculum, even preceptorship courses are the same but just have different names)

jeez! thats reallyobnoxious of them

So no one else has heard yet? gosh

Have you been on the interview yet? If not, I would be suprised if you didn't change your mind about the bolded statement above. Of all the schools I interviewed at, it seemed like Georgetown was extraordinarilly committed to their philosophy and this is present in all the faculty, staff, and students (at least the ones I talked to). I haven't seen this at other schools, and I think it is really neat to have a guiding philosophy like this that the whole school unites behind.

I always knew some people thought like that, but few actually put it out there for everyone to read...

Did you read what that kid wrote? Not only was it in complete sentence fragments with no capitalization, but it was downright disturbing. Tell me, did you apply to any scools thinking "Hmmm, I want to go there because I love college girls and that is really my main reason." This dude wants to be a physician?

He probably is a troll, I should be in question for feeding him, not for stating the fact that choosing a medical school on the age of the female populace is a bit disturbing.

I know a lot of pre-meds who are tools and it wouldn't suprise me if they picked schools based on how many hot girls they thought would be near by. So It wasn't tooo disturbing to me, but in all honesty...who says that kind of stuff. I sense a socially awkward guy in real life..
