when do they ask for a drug test?
"Complete TOXICOLOGY screening at a LabCorp Patient Service Center"

it's in the checklist from the website link they sent you in the acceptance email...but I have no clue as to a deadline regarding this

Could anyone whose interviewed at Mount Sinai give me an idea of how the day is scheduled? Someone mentioned most interviews were done by noon, am I going to arrive at 8AM and have an interview not long after or are there some info sessions prior? Are there 2 open file interviews? Any help would be appreciated =)

The day begins with info sessions with Deans. Current students drop by at the very beginning while you're waiting for the day to start and while you're between interviews (because of the free pastries and coffee). The interviews are open file. You may have a student interview, which weighs equally with the faculty interview.

To elaborate on the post above, all the interviews were done fairly early (9-10-ish), and then there was a surprisingly entertaining financial aid presentation before the tour and lunch.

I can't even remember much of what was said during the financial aid presentation because all I could notice was that the financial aid presenter, Dale, is a funny guy

I agree... all I remember is that he had a Southern accent, ( I believe he was from Georgia) and I thought to my self... that is really odd to hear a southern accent in the middle on Manhattan... But then I started zoning out since my interview was right after finals...

Hi SDNers! My this thread has been a little quiet lately. Is it true that there is a wave of decisions about every month?

Oh and I've looked through the whole website/this thread...but does anyone know how many they interview and how many accepted? Sorry, I would totally look this up in my MSAR but I left it at home while on the NY interview tour 😀 THANKS!!

Hi - does anyone know if/when sinai has a revisit weekend? I haven't gotten my acceptance packet yet in the mail, which i'm assuming has that info, but i thought i'd check to see if anyone here knows. thanks in advance!

has anyone been rejected pre-secondary and did it come by mail. i'm kinda confused by what it says on the rejection thread. if anyone could carify that is great! thanks.

Do you mean pre-interview?

Does anyone know when the next admissions committee meeting is? If we interviewed earlier this month, should we expect to hear something soon?

I think they said their committee is meeting every Wednesday during January/

So I called the admin. office yesterday to check my status as I have not been invited for an interview nor rejected and I've been complete for months. They said my file had been reviewed but a final decision has not been made. Is there any positive to this, any chance of a late interview. Would they of told me I was rejected over the phone?

Any thoughts?...

For people who have sent updates/LOI (interest) via email did MSSM respond in any way to confirm that they received it? Or do you have to call to check?

i'm in the same boat. i have been complete since mid sept and havent heard anything from them. it's really annoying that they don't have a status page. what you say makes me a little happier though; im glad to know there are other people in the same situation! i doubt they would have told you if you were rejected over the phone...lets hope for the best!

and ami, i sent them updated grades in an email and i received nothing to confirm that they actually received it. i might try to call them to see if they received the email--which im sure they did--and they'll prob just tell me that my app is under review.

They responded a few days after I sent it by email.

No prob. Although, it would have been better if they offered an interview instead of confirming. =/

Waaaitttlistteeedd.

Funny how the email starts out with "We are pleased to inform you..." getting your hopes set up for a disappointment. Bah.

I'm not getting my hopes up that I'm getting off this list...waitlists are just deferred rejections based on my experience.

Gah! Waitlisted as well! 🙁
I guess I somewhat expected it. This wasn't my best interview.

Same here... I have just given up... 🙁

I interviewed a week before the december decisions came out, and they told us that we would have to wait for the January decisions. Good luck!

Though they claim during the tour that some people will hear soon after their interview, I haven't heard of that quick of a turn around.

But you can always call them and ask and expect an answer like "you can be notified anytime between now and March".
The general impression I got about Sinai was they call a lot more people for interviews than the number of seats. So most people get waitlisted. From what I heard, last year they pulled about 50 out of 500 waitlisted people, so basically a 10 percent chance. No point holding breath here.

I interviewed a week ago at sinai, are we supposed to send them fall grades/update letters?

😱. I don't recall them saying that so I haven't sent my fall grades in. Can you elaborate on what they asked for?

Don't be too sure of that! I interviewed at Sinai in October, was waitlisted in November, and (without any action on my part) was accepted in mid-December! I don't know how common that is, but a waitlist most certainly does not mean rejection.

Does Mt. Sinai send out acceptances by mail, email, or phone call? I interviewed earlier this month.

anyone know until when mt sinai interviews?

decisions come via email first, followed by snail mail.

For those of you waiting: I just got an interview invite from Mount Sinai, so apparently they are still sending out interview invites.

Congrats! I just sent my letter of interest today. Hoping for some love! What are the dates being offered at this point in time?

Edit: Also...for those of you who did send a LOI, I'm curious if they actually acknowledge that they have received the letter?

Anyone know if interview invites being given out right are still for spots in the class? Or are they interviewing for a WL spot or something similar. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

they reply you telling you thank you for the update

I didn't get a reply when I emailed my Thank you. May be I should call tomorrow.

Not sure if you'd wanna call about that. It's like you want them to acknowledge you thanking them. Not all schools replied to my thank you

I got an interview invite today as well. I don't know, but the tickets to NYC this time of year is really cheap so why the hell not hehe...

I hope its for something more than a WL spot... but I hear that it's a myth to interview only for a WL spot. You should always expect that if they invite you for an interview, they're genuinely interested in having you matriculate.

I hope

All the best in 2009.

Well, I'll be there on the 20th of Feb. Hopefully there are still open spots.

I got in! Just wondering if anyone knows if it's actually cheaper than most private schools at mt. sinai since the tuition is $35,000 as opposed to like $42,000 in others or is it really the same at the end of the day b/c other fees/charges will basically make up that difference....

According to MSAR the total cost of attendance is $55000 , so it is a slightly cheaper than other private schools in NY. The average indebtedness, $136000, similar to the average for private Medical schools.

Just look at the financial aid websites for the schools you're considering and try to find the total "cost of attendance" and the student budget breakdowns.

I've been complete since september and just called the admissions office for a status check. I was told that my application is "going through review". What does that mean? Pre-interview hold? That they haven't looked at it before? I guess I should have asked, but I freak out every time I call an admissions office.
Had anybody else received an interview after such status update?
