i talked to the admissions office just now and they accepted a bunch of people from the waitlist after their meeting this week (and already notified them). their next meeting is june 23...

Unless they are convening a partial committee, I believe adcom only meets on Wednesdays. (My boss sits on the adcom at MSSM). Wednesday would be June 24th.

that was the same thing I was thinking. Do you know if they have already notified those accepted this past week?

Another poster above said everyone had already been notified.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm not exactly sure if the emails went out yet since I was told otherwise yesterday. I won't cave in until someone posts that either they or someone they know was taken off. In any case, I'm holding out for the chance that not everyone will accept the offer. Remember to be courteous to the admissions staff (ie don't bug them about stuff you've already read here), they're the nicest ones in my book (I applied to like 30 schools) and deserve the respect.

Good luck to you all.

no. I only know when he's out of the office (hence when the adcom meetings are). We don't sit and chat about their decisions and actions, we take care of patients...well, except when they didn't interview me <boo>

I hear you I work at mssm :meanie:
and waitlisted so you know a silent treatment
but the lady told m epeople were notified

unless u guys have other info

Can't wait to call tomorrow about the waitlist. Hope some people get off of it soon. Good luck all.

As promised I called the office today to clarify some points made in the posts above.

-There was indeed a meeting last week.

-Decisions have not been mailed yet and they do not know when it will be mailed.

If anyone receives an acceptance email, please let us know.

hmm, i guess the people who answer the phones all have different information. bc when i called last week, the lady said the 2nd round of waitlist acceptances, which were decided last week, had been emailed.

i'm hoping you are right, though.
did you talk to the lady with the accent?

She has a slight accent. She sounds very friendly. I'm hoping she is right as well.

WTF SINAI!

It doesnt really make sense that they would decide who they are going to take off of the waitlist and then keep the information longer.

i don't have any official information, but according to the "class of 2013" group on facebook there have been several new members in the last day. one of the new members posted on the wall yesterday that he "just received" his acceptance email, so i'm assuming emails went out this week. although i haven't talked to anyone at mssm to confirm this, it makes sense considering someone mentioned in an earlier post that there was an adcom meeting scheduled for the week of the 22nd...that gives the newly accepted students 2 weeks to make their decisions. hopefully round 3 goes better for those still waiting.

on a side note, does anyone know how many people are on the waitlist this year?

Hey guys,

I'm a long-time waitlister here, and I got an acceptance email from Sinai on Wednesday morning (woohoo!) In the email, I was told that I have until June 24th to accept or decline their offer.

As for why there is a delay between the committee meeting and notification, I think it is because after June 1, it is AAMC policy that a school taking someone off of their wait list contact any other school where that person is already holding a spot. I bet they take some of this time to touch base with the other schools before sending out the decisions.

Hey Sortofmcdreamy,

Congrats on your acceptance and thanks for updating us with the info from the email.

why is that? i've never heard of it, where did you read it?

Did anyone hear back from them today or know if people have already heard back from today's meeting? It seems like last time people heard back exactly a week after the meeting but some may have heard back earlier than that (hence the confusion). I'm guessing they don't send out the emails all at once but individually and when depends on how long it takes them to communicate to the school that already accepted them? Any thoughts?

Hey all,

Long-time waitlister, just got the acceptance e-mail yesterday afternoon. Best of luck to the rest of you on the list!

Thanks for the info chewwy and congrats on getting in. Anyone know if they're going to meet again to take people off the waitlist? My guess is probably not. There's been a lot more movement than in previous years, especially compared to last year. Anyone know if higher ranked schools are still taking people off the waitlist (since that will likely mean movement for us)?

YEAH!

I got off the waitlist this past Monday.
interviewed and waitlisted mid-late january

You need to answer those questions for us first, and then we'll see if we want to help you.

Hey,

I'm still on the waitlist myself. People probably don't want to list their stats to remain anonymous so I wouldn't take it personally that no one responds. From what I was told at the interview, sending updates helps but in my view it only does so if you've done meaningful things since your waitlist status. Regarding numbers, I still think those are the main factor that determines who gets off (an MS4 I know mentioned it to me when I visited) so I guess if your numbers are close to the matriculant avgs you have a chance and I would assume that's true of those recently taken off. Speaking of which, anyone have any updates about the waitlist movement? Is the class full? (I keep forgetting to call since I'm always busy at work) I know Vandy has sent out rejection letters for their waitlist...

You're going to be a lot of fun in small group, aren't you?

lol

ill try to contribute as much as i can!!!
but mount sinai is purely pass/fail so i dont know why i would put that much effort into it when i could be studying lecture notes

also
does mount sinai use small group session a lot (aka pbl)?
i dont think ill be a fan of it

Thanks for getting back to me. If I get any updates re the waitlist I will post it. The chances for movement at this time is almost zero, but still hoping😀:luck::luck:
