NOTICE: This is the MSTP secondary, which looks suspiciously exactly like last year's MD Only secondary application. However, be aware that the actual MD Only secondary is not available yet. I'll edit this as soon as it is available.

Character limit: 800 characters per essay

Describe involvement in the ONE most important non-academic activity that has been important in your life?

What has been the ONE most unique leadership, entrepreneurial or creative activity in which you participated?

What has been the ONE most important volunteer work you have done and why was it meaninful?

What is the ONE most important honor you have received? Why do you view this as important?

What has been your most scholarly project (thesis, research or field of study in basic or clinical science or in the humanities)? Describe one and give number of hours, dates and advisor.

Describe a problem in your life. Include how you dealt with it and how it influenced your growth.

List major paid work experience during (or since) college. Give dates, description, approximate hours worked (list the most recent first).

If there is any hardship to which you would like the committee to give special attention in evaluating your application, then check the box labeled 'Hardship' and briefly explain why you are indicating a hardship. Include any geographic, language, economic, academic, physical, or mental factors.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What experiences have led you to this goal?

Does anyone know what the character / word limit for the UCLA secondary essays are? Thank shemarty for posting all these! 🙂

Should I have Interfoilo send my four letters now or should I wait? I don't know if they'll just toss them until they receive the secondary first like some schools do.

It was 800 characters last year. This is the MSTP application from this year, but the person who posted it didn't post the character limit. I'll update it as soon as I find out from somebody...

I'm drafting my UCLA essays to put off writing my UCSD essay 😳

Last year, there was also this question: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What experiences have led you to this goal?

However, it doesn't appear to be on this year's MSTP application, according to the one person who posted it on the main secondary application thread.

Can anybody else who's already received the MSTP secondary application confirm this? Hopefully the MD-Only applicants get the secondary soon, so there won't be any more speculation 🙂
 
Does UCLA Prime count in here or is that a separate thread?

YES the above question is also on this year's MSTP application...Oops, sorry I didn't see it -- it was at the bottom of a super-long list of questions!

And the character limits are again 800 characters per essay for the MSTP app.

Hope that clarifies any confusion!

I just got the request email but cannot find the link for the application. Anyone know where it is? When I log into the status thing there are no forms.
 
Ok so...I got a request to fill out the secondary...but...I don't see it anywhere on the site...anyone else?
 
***FYI***I just called UCLA SOM and for those of you who just received an email to complete a secondary...there's been an earthquake in LA just now that affected there computer system. No access to the secondary yet!😕

Well maybe you were lucky! I'm just repeating what the admissions staff told me just now as to why I could not access it and why others may be having problems accessing it. It just happened a half hour ago.

I don't understand. Are you saying they accidentally sent out the emails to everone or they sent out the correct emails but the secondary is not available on their website as of yet because of the quake?

The latter. I'm pretty sure, you got the invite for real--so yay! I'm sure the invites were ready to get emailed out before the earthquake hit. I have no idea why exactly you cannot access the secondary. I'm just repeating what the admissions staff told me as to why we cannot access it. Maybe they meant to put it up right when we got the email, but then due to the quake, it didn't work because of a system failure.

Think about it--why would an earthquake trigger emails to be sent to the wrong people. In other news, the internet is a series of tubes.

OK that makes sense. I couldn't understand how an earthquake would cause emails to be sent. Unless the internet is a series of tubes!! Oh Al Gore why did you make it that way...

Not the earthquake part...but the quote from the message was a joke. I was thinking of starting my essay like this.

yeah, my bf is in la. He said the epicenter was in Chino Hills.

I got it too.but cant figure out how to access it
 
called just to make sure. they said they were sending the invites out while the earthquake happened so it affected their system. according to the woman I spoke with, it is NOT a mistake if you received the secondary but just that you won't be able to access it for a few days.

if you got one, you're good! just give it a couple days. (I hope this lady was right!)
