Not to freak anyone out, but my parents just called - an acceptance letter from UCLA came today!!!

I'm not even sure if I believe it, since they've been saying so consistently that January was when they were going to start!

I'm pretty speechless, UCLA's my top choice!

Nope - the final decision letter part is still blank. I think I'm going to call them tomorrow to make sure it's not a mistake. 😳

By the way, there might have been more sent out - my parents live literally right next to Westwood, so mine might just have been the first to arrive.
 
WOAH!! that's awesome. That came amazingly early considering the admissions office has been telling us all mid to late January and last year they didn't send out acceptances until almost February.

Well congrats! maybe we'll all get some good news soon too!

omg! now I will be checking my mailbox constanly over the break. I was preparing myself for hearing from UCLA starting in late January. Although I guess I interviewed very recently
Congratulations! I'm so jealous. When did you interview?
 
Were you guys all october/november interviews? I interviewed in December so I guess I've got more waiting to do.
 
I interviewed early October, but I live in Irvine (~20-30 miles from LA), so if mine is coming with this batch it will be here tomorrow (or not at all if i phail).

wendster, i interviewed first few days of october, don't remember the exact date. maybe the 3rd?

BTW, coping, did you get the 5K scholarship too? I'm guessing everyone gets it..i remember last year they all did.

So are you speculating that these December invites are going out to a very small pool of scholarship recipients, so the late January date still stands for everyone else?
 
According to my student tour guides.. all students at ucla som got the 5k scholarship last year.

It makes one wonder, doesn't it? If you went back there tomorrow and asked them when the first acceptances are going out, what do you think the response would be? I am a little embarrassed for the office staff member who gave you that information, since surely the letters were sent out that same day. But, perhaps, they did not know in the morning that letters would be going out in the afternoon. Who knows?
Still, thank you for asking. It is nice to have someone nearby.

So apparently, there were only a few acceptances that went out yesterday - most will still go out in January (from what I understood).

haha yea well theres no point in just holding a bunch of spots when people are dying for one. especially when i know where im going -- for a fact.

funny thing is im supposed to be flying out on sunday to do upenn and cornell and i already bought the tickets...im gonna try to get credit and buy a ticket to hawaii. 😀
 
I just went to the status page and it says "letter sent." I interview back in early September. Do you think this is good? I'm sure it could also be a waitlist/rejection letter. I'm out of town and am nervous to come home and check my mail!
 
No mail or status update. Could be I wasnt in this batch but more likely that I am not stellar enough to get in this early if at all. GJ to those lucky few!

HOLY CRAP.

My status page also says "letter sent" now. I'm in Northern CA, so I'll find out in a few days whether its good or bad.

I interviewed on 11/12. Which is really late compared to all the early October people. Anybody else who interviewed more recently have the "letter sent" status?

how did you know? They let you call to accept your position? How much is the deposit to hold your position?
 
No, they send u a letter and u write a letter back accepting your position. The most gratifying sentence I've ever written!

Congrats to all who got accepted. There is nothing I want more than an acceptance to Geffen.

You can call and ask if they sent you a letter, as I did (no for me 🙁). Any letter sent is an acceptance. They do not make any post-interview waitlist/rejection decisions until Spring, so a letter at this point is only the best news.

This was an extremely small batch (~30ish), or so I was told. The big batch is the one that the admissions office keeps referring to, coming late January, early February. They accept ~250 every year, so let's keep our heads up guys (and hope the rest of interviewees don't push us down the ranked list😉). I'd give anything to see that list!

Congrats again to all those accepted; you're the cream of the crop!
 
Can someone verify the time that acceptances would be coming out or how long after interviews that info comes out? Honestly, the interview process at UCLA was so disorganized for me, and they never really annouced that info. I interviewed in 1st week of december, and just wanted to get an idea of when I would likely find out about my status.

I was told when I went in December that they most likely won't even meet again until after the New Year and should expect to hear back February at the earliest.
 
I interviewed in September and have not heard back. No status change or letter. This certaintly isn't good news, but how bad is this? Any thoughts?
 
I just updated the acceptance page and added MJ is King, too. Skiqueen, it seems like any letter is good news, so it seems like you can add yourself, too! 🙂

Do any of those accepted have the Accepted Student Checklist on their status page? I'm not sure if we should be submitting any of these forms, as most seem to be for the class of 2012.

I hope this is true, does anyone know? I got a status change today but no physical letter as of yet.
 
holy crapped pants!

looked at status page and "letter sent"... I don't feel like I'm in the same league as these other guys. A fluke maybe?
 
i think they read my application wrong or something. oh well. 😍😍 ucla

I saw you had an earlier thread about UCLA vs. Stanford - have you for sure decided on UCLA? I'm 95% sure I'm going, unless I get any incredible financial aid from elsewhere, so we may be classmates!

copingmethods- Yea I'm sure. Its over. Finito. Termino. Game Over. I mean I'm considering Stanford a little but I'm pretty fixed on bein a Bruin. Or else I wouldn't be cancelling interviews at UPenn, UMich, etc Can't wait to meet you! Feels great to be done huh?

Shemarty- thanks for adding me, and CONGRATS. Decision letter sent = acceptance. But, im sure youll get into Stanford and then stay loyal. LOL.
