I never heard anything after I sent in my WL acceptance letter. I sent it through snail mail. I called about 2 weeks later to confirm they received it, and they stated they had. So basically they aren't going to tell you that they have recieved your response, but its not a bad idea to confirm it with them.

Yes, I did get a change in my status, it said the final decision letter was sent. However, because it takes a while for the website to reflect your status change, I actually got the letter in my mail the same day that the website said there was a change.

I interviewed on the 10th of February and received the waitlist today March 20th.

From looking at years past on SDN, it seems that the waitlist doesn't move much until late may and june, so I guess I'll be hunkering down.

What was the date on the status change? 3/20?

Here is last year's UCLA thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=496398

I made a summary of wait-list movement. People accepted to UCLA from waitlist for the 2008 entering class:

Mbekweni: accepted from waitlist on may 20th

ACD: accepted on may 27th, interviewed first week of April (no waitlist), withdrew

starshine3: accepted on may 27th, (was waitlisted)

GalaxySystem: accepted on may 30th, (was waitlisted)

axeon123: accepted on may 30th, (was waitlisted), interviewed on Jan 3.

ilovebagels: accepted on may 30th, (was waitlisted), interviewed on Jan 8.

Doc Andy: accepted on June 11th (interviewed 11/15, waitlisted 3/18)

Cowgirl in CA: accepted on June 13th (was waitlisted)

So at least 8 people were accepted off the waitlist. Obviously we need to multipley this number by some coefficient because not everybody who was wailited and then accepted posted on SDN, but if this year is anything like last year, we shoudl not expect much waitlist movement. It's also likely that waitlist will move from May 15th to June 15th,
much like last year.

Thanks for making the summary for the 2008 waitlist movement, gave me some hope; but I think at this point what gets you in from the waitlist is your race/gender/cultural affiliations such that UCLA can ensure a diverse incoming class because they know everyone who were interviewed are highly qualified.

this thread has been quiet past couple days. any news anyone? hehe

has anyone else interviewed earlier than december and still haven't gotten a decision?

I'm supposed to show up for my interview at 11:45. For other people who had to arrive at this time...should I eat lunch before I go or is it provided? Also, around what time did you 11:45ers finish?

Lunch was provided, we got a $10 coupon to a cafe on campus. I think I was finished around 3 or so, maybe earlier. It's a pretty quick day: lunch, tour, then interview.

lunch is provided. I had a 2pm interview and finished around 3pm. I think the interview can run until 5pm though.

Great, thanks! 🙂 I'm hoping to get out of LA before traffic hits so fingers crossed that my day ends at 3 :xf:

I had a morning interview at 11 am, and I was done by 1 pm.

This is just a hunch, but did anyone else who's been waiting 2+ months also have a student interview in addition to the faculty one?

i just checked my application status page. it says letter sent on 3/26.
my heart is beating 100 bpm because i'm so nervous/anxious. i interviewed second week of february.

:scared:

AHH me too. my heart is racing! interviewed in late feb...

So many letter sent in one day....I hope it is not same as before where many letters on one day meant waitlist or worse

eek i hope not! but if they only send out acceptances once a month, it doesnt bode well for us 3/26 folks since it looks like a bunch of acceptances were sent out 3/12... :scared:

buut im in boston now and will probably receive the letter after all of you in ca...

sorry to break the bad news. i went home to check my mailbox and i received hold letter. 🙁 *sigh* this is devastating. 5 interviews and 4 rejections and 1 hold. my life-long dream of becoming a physician looking ever-so slim-to-none.

No berken, I refuse to believe that there will be bad news for you! Remember, at the schools that we both interview at, you get accepted! Good luck!😀:luck::xf:

Didn't get the letter today (weird, because i'm in norcal).

jgberken where are you from?

awww crap... has anyone had any *good* news that had a letter sent 3/26? I'm still waiting for mine in the mail... :scared: God, UCLA was a long shot anyways, but the thought of rejection is still hard. I'm seriously desperate for some good news. 🙁

And it's weird that you norcal folks got letters before I did? I'm in Los Angeles!

<--norcal, 3/26 letter sent, and rejection

finally got the letter today.. waitlist for me.

Is UCLA pretty much interviewing for waitlist spots at this point?

I have an interview coming up next week, but I'm worried about interviewing so late in the cycle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I skimmed the thread and don't think I saw anyone with a recent interview get an acceptance.

yea, i wondered about this too. i interviewed on the 18th of march, which is pretty late in the interview season. from this thread, it seems as though the latest interview that resulted with an acceptance was feb20th. so who knows? gl w/ your interview!

my guess is that they are not interviewing for waitlists........idk if ucla would do that.....prolly not........but it's getting close to the end so who knows. I'd definitely go to the interview though....good luck!

Hi,

I just wanted to give a shred of hope to those who are on the waitlist. I just decided to withdraw my acceptance from UCLA and I hope that means someone else here gets lucky. It was really hard to make that decision, as UCLA is an exceptional school. I imagine as May 15th rolls around, other people will have to let go of their acceptance if they choose to attend elsewhere. Good luck to all of you!

So you're definitely going to UCSF? I guess I'll see you there 🙂.

Yes, UCSF has been my #1 choice. UCLA is also an awesome school and it was an honor to be accepted there. It took me a while to let go because it is such a great school, but there really was no question in my mind about where I am meant to be...and I believe that's UCSF.

Sorry to get this thread off track a bit, but are you going to be in my class? Definitely join the UCSF c/o 2013 facebook group if you are! 🙂

anyone who interviewed in late jan./early feb still waiting for a decision?

It's been 6 weeks since my interview and still no word. I've had to restrain myself from calling the admissions office. I don't want to be a pest, calling in and bothering them, but this is my first choice school and I can't help but feel antsy at this point. :scared:

i know how you feel. 8 weeks for me. i don't really know how helpful calling would be, but i definitely sympathize with your anxiety. maybe some decisions will be sent by next week?

6 weeks.....8 weeks....pssshhh. LOL

some of us had to wait 5 months+

JK........the waiting IS awful...good luck!

I think it's good news hopefully I am right. First batch of the month? Best of luck.
