If it makes you feel any better, your decision won't come via email. It'll just appear on your status page without Pitt telling you about the update.

Am I correct that the Pitt waitlist does not begin to move until after May 15th? Thats really late..

Many schools don't move WL till that date. And yes you are correct. And yes, it sucks that we have to wait that long.

Please give out the rest of the October decisions this week because if you do not, some of us will have to wait until the first week of January to hear as the next two Thursdays are Christmas Day and New Year's Day. I have been a good applicant this year and a favorable decision this week would be a wonderful Christmas gift. The waiting, on the other hand, would be rather painful.

Those that got accepted to Pitt, did it take the full 2 months from the date of your interview to hear word, or did they accept you sooner? My interview was on Oct 31st, and the 2 month date is nearing, so I was wondering what I should expect. Thanks a bunch.

They are behind by a few weeks, so I wouldn't expect anything until mid-January (10-11 weeks + time off for the holidays). Some people from 10/17 have heard already, but I interviewed that day and haven't received a decision yet, so that seems to the cutoff right now.

Gah. I drempt all last night that for some reason my application had been "canceled" and I was flat out rejected. I guess WL is better than a rejection...😕

Kind of a let down--I've been checking like 4x a day since my interview...eheh

What...? Still no app status change...? Agh, this is killing me.
 
Waitlisted....🙁 At least I don't have to apply to the PSTP now.
 
So...I imagine this info was posted earlier but I called the office and they said they do not release any information in regard to where you are on the wait list. The office did, however, mention that an encouraging thought is that 1/3rd of the MS1 class was from the waitlist so I suppose there is hope...

Though someone also did mention that they're waitlisting a ton of people this year which means those 1/3 spots are going to be well fought for...

..just some thoughts.
 
I wish we had any idea how many people theyve WLd in the past, (or what percentage of the waitlist eventually ends up getting accepted),...are they WL almost everyone who interviews? I'd rather be outright rejected if there's no chance... just a thought!

They are waitlisting a ton of people, but they are also going to accept more off the waitlist this year (according to their emails).
 
i think this whole waitlist thing is totally bonkers. i mean to the best of my knowledge it's only to improve their yield. some might argue on this thread that if you were truly in love with the school that you should be able to endure this. but if anything it's been incredibly off-putting. i wonder if there are a lot of other people out there that feel the same way.
 
when does pitt interview till?
does anyone know the statistics for interviews granted, WL, accepted, rejected, etc? probably not but just curious if anyone had the information. thanks!

Well, waitlisting does suck for applicants, but it makes sense for the school. Say they were to instead accept all those people that they waitlisted - if more than they expected decided to attend the school, then their class would be too big. Waitlisting allows them to control the class size better.

I think it's off-putting anytime a school does not accept you. In fact, it's the natural reaction. In the application process, which is rife with uncertainty and tension, we applicants reserve a special spot in our hearts for that school that makes us feel that it wants us to attend just as badly as we want to attend.

A long decision making time and a lengthy waitlist certainly test one's love for the school...🙄
 
Hey, has anyone else had problems with the status check for Pitt? I can't access it from my bookmark and I can't find the link online? Any help!!??
 
Pitt is definitely waitlisting a TON of people this year and not accepting as many right away. They want to make sure they don't over-accept...but geez, it's really weird to see all of you getting waitlisted. It's true that a good percentage of previous classes have come from the waitlist, so your chances are still really good.

I wonder if this is a way of seeing who really loves Pitt enough to hold on til the very end? 😛 It's never possible to read the minds of admissions committee members, but try to trust that they know what they're doing. I guarantee some of you will end up being admitted in May. Hopefully you'll still love Pitt then as much as you do now.

Send updates soon and often. Try to find anything in your life that you can update on, especially now that you hopefully have a sense of our school and what we might find important. I can help you with that if you need. Whatever you send to the admissions office will get put in your file and WILL BE LOOKED AT so don't feel like it's a waste of time.

It is weird to see almost everyone on this thread be waitlisted recently. In fact, it's been a while since someone said they were accepted.

Funkydrmonkey and Talbo, I guess our note was not eloquent enough. My fate is yet to be decided (late Oct int.)...probably won't until January considering the next two weeks are breaks.

Keep the faith though guys...you guys have great stats and will end up at a fitting school!

Nope... I am gonna wait until all schools have passed judgement, for the first round at least, to send LOI's/ updates, but I might send a new transcript since I liked my grades for this quarter...
 
Just got a letter for a 4 year, full tuition scholarship!!!!! Woot woot!!!!! Yay Pitt!
 
I had my interview on 10/31 and haven't heard from Pitt yet... According to their "allow eight weeks from date of interview" I should have heard word on or before 12/31. Do you guys think that I haven't heard because it's right in the heart of the holidays?

Hmm, I went to the financial aid info session, and I was under the impression that merit scholarships and financial aid would only be decided after all your financial information has been submitted. I guess this isn't true? Congrats anyway!

Thanks scarlet, Lyss, and funkmonk! Oober, I'm not sure when the aid is supposed to go out (I didn't go to the fin aid session 😳). I was as shocked by the letter as anyone. I figured it was just a Christmas card when I saw the envelope. Ha. I seriously have no idea what I'm going to do. Wow....decisions, decisions.

i interviewed around then and was told that I had not yet gone to committee and would not do so till January...so I wouldn't worry about it 🙂
